Yes indeed, folks, you read that correctly. I think we, as Americans, need to stop relying mindlessly on the poobahs of the Federal government and start relying on our own, rather formidable, selves for security. Over the weekend, according to the Daily Mail (UK): Passengers "stormed off the Monarch Airlines Airbus A320 minutes before it was due to leave the Costa del Sol at 3am. Others waiting for Flight ZB 613 in the departure lounge refused to board it."
"Even after the Super Bowl victory of the New Orleans Saints, I have noticed a large number of people implying with bad jokes that Cajuns aren't smart. I would like to state for the record that I disagree with that assessment. Anybody that would build a city 5 feet below sea level in a hurricane zone and fill it with Democrats is a genius". This week the entire JonBenet Ramsay murder case has again become a big network feeding frenzy with the apparent confession of a 41-year old American man who is being held for extradition back to Boulder, CO from Thailand – a place where it is said that children are routinely bought and sold for temporary or permanent sexual purposes. Remind me never to visit there.
The networks are busily engaged in over-covering what really should always have been a purely local tragedy, but for the ravenous appetite of the 24-hour news cycle and, of course, the availability of those tapes of the 6 year old victim performing on stage in entirely too adult routines, replayed ad nauseam 10 years ago, and once again this week.
At the outset, I think it only fair to state that I do not now, nor have I ever, approved of baby beauty contests. I have had friends who were eager to put their little ones on the pageant circuit and in EVERY case, it was less about how beautiful or talented were the children and more about how avaricious for attention were the parents. I observed the depradations on the soul visited on children by stage parents when I was competing as an ice skater (My mother, bless her, couldn't have cared less if I won - she was only happy that I was learning not to trip over my own feet.)
I believe that beauty pageants for children are obscenities and everything that follows must, necessarily, be colored by that opinion. While I do not subscribe to the “she asked for it” school of thought when it comes to crimes against women, when parents display these very young, frequently only marginally talented children as objects of desire, they are profaning the innocence of youth in a world full of sick bastards who love to violate innocence! Why would ANY parent willingly, even eagerly, subject their child to the possible attentions of such perverts? For any reason whatsoever? I confess, I just don’t get it.
As to Mr. Karr’s confession, right now I’m not buying it. Contradictions abound and inconsistencies can be spotted by even the most gormless observer. Added to that the fact that he is visibly reveling in all the attention, and I find myself having serious doubts about the veracity of his purported confession and even of his involvement in any manner.
Finally, a word to the media. From the very beginning of this story, there have been a multitude of assiduously-reported errors brayed forth into the public purview. And this is a case where no less an authority than John Ramsay himself should be clearly heard: Don’t rush to judgment! Let the legal system do its job. Don’t convict without a trial. Innocent until proven guilty! DID ANY OF YOU INCREDIBLE BOZOS EVER HEAR OF A FACT-CHECKER? THE OHIO SUPREME COURT DECISION IN THE SAM SHEPPARD CASE?
One would assume, at first glance, that this post is Columbus, Ohio specific, but one would be wrong. While the grocery store chain alluded to in this post is located in Columbus, Ohio, I am also certain that there are grocery chains elsewhere that offer some, if not all, of the following benefits to those who shop there regularly.
The Giant Eagle Supermarket chain, which is located in Ohio and Pennsylvania, offers something called “Fuel Perks” which gives you 10¢ off per gallon at their GetGo Gas Stations for every $50 you spend in their food store. In addition, and here’s where it becomes really interesting, they offer gift cards, the value of which also contributes to the $50 spending qualification. Hence, I can go to the Giant Eagle, spend $50 in groceries AND buy a $300 MasterCard gift card to use for miscellaneous shopping (an alternative to carrying cash if nothing else), and you have just earned 70¢ off per gallon of gas at GetGo. The gift cards offer includes the Amex gift card, MasterCard and Visa. Other gift cards include Best Buy, Sears, Barnes & Noble, and a wealth of others. In addition, Giant Eagle doubles coupons up to 99¢ AND they have the very best produce department I’ve ever encountered outside of California.
My friend Pam pointed out the infinite possibilities of this gift card offering to me and while I know that only readers in Ohio and Pennsylvania can benefit from Giant Eagle’s program (yes, you have to have one of those little plastic savings cards in your wallet or on your keyring as well), I am sure they are not the only grocery chain offering some sort of incentive along these lines to their customers in other states. And if not, why not? If your local stores aren't doing so, ask them why? If you don't ask, you don't get!
My recommendation for the weekend? Get on the “net” and start checking these things out. If you’re grocery shopping anyway, why not shop where you can save money on gas at the same time?

Within the modern Democratic Party, there are many utterly incompetent foreign policy thinkers. But standing head and shoulders below the worst of the worst within the modern Democratic Party – one man stands alone, the worst American president during the 20th century: James Earl Carter, Jr.! And when you consider President Carter’s competition (Harding and Clinton come to mind.), that’s some feat.
In an interview published on 8/15/06 in DerSpiegel Online, President Carter opined that administrations prior to George W. Bush had a “commitment to peace instead of preemptive war. Our country always had a policy of not going to war unless our own security was directly threatened and now we have a new policy of going to war on a preemptive basis.” Yes, folks, he really did say that! Apparently his short term memory doesn’t include 9/11/01!
Further on in the interview, Mr. Carter chatters mindlessly about the Lebanon/Israel/Hezbollah situation. He states: “. . .the concerns I exposed have gotten even worse now with the United States supporting and encouraging Israel in its unjustified attack on Lebanon.” [emphasis mine] HUH?
President Carter, I realize you are far from the brightest bulb in the chandelier but perhaps you have noticed over the years that there have been never-ending, violent and utterly unprovoked attacks on the Nation of Israel since the date of its founding in 1948 and it may have come to your notice that Hezbollah and Iran have both LOUDLY (and recently) proclaimed their intention to drive the Israelis from their land and into the sea. They aren’t keeping this any big secret. Even you, President Carter, mired as you are in a sea of hopeless confusion, should have heard some inkling.
Mr. Carter believes that President George W. Bush poses a threat to American values and expresses some sympathy for the ailing Fidel Castro! Mr. Carter is also most approving of the peace proposals set forth by the President of Lebanon and claims that they are “quite reasonable”. James Earl Carter, Jr. is, in my opinion, a doddering nincompoop. But here is the truly incredible part of the interview. And I am quoting:
"The fundamentalists believe they have a unique relationship with God, and that they and their ideas are God's ideas and God's premises on the particular issue. Therefore, by definition since they are speaking for God anyone who disagrees with them is inherently wrong. And the next step is: Those who disagree with them are inherently inferior, and in extreme cases -- as is the case with some fundamentalists around the world -- it makes your opponents sub-humans, so that their lives are not significant. Another thing is that a fundamentalist can't bring himself or herself to negotiate with people who disagree with them because the negotiating process itself is an indication of implied equality."Mr. Carter is NOT, as you might suspect, speaking of Hezbollah, or the Islamofascist scum - no, he's talking about US, the Christians who are the overwhelming majority of American citizens. It is simply incredible. Mr. Carter, this nation is very fortunate that you are NOT the president of the United States in these perilous and dangerous times and that a man with REAL values, REAL courage and a steadfast determination to protect the United States of America occupies that office.
Mr. Carter's ineffectual lack of action at the time that the Iranian students (one of whom is now PRESIDENT OF IRAN) took American Embassy personnel hostage for 444 days, is a direct precurser to our present peril. His completely incompetent conduct of American foreign policy during his failed four year presidency sowed the seeds for our present War on Terror. Mr. Carter, your reputation will improve in direct proportion to the time we do NOT need to hear your ill-founded and puerile opinions. Please do not believe that your completely undeserved Nobel prize qualifies you for anything except being recognized as being anti-American. But respected as a great thinker. It isn't going to happen, sir, not now and not ever! History will judge you, Mr. Carter, and it will not be kind. Trust me on that.

“So who’s going to tell Joe that he could very easily lose come November? Who’s going to tell him that Ned might actually be good for the Democratic Party?”
Susan Estrich, 8/09/06 on BlueStreak
Well, gee, Susan – since the apparent reason Joe Lieberman lost the primary is because of his stance on the War on Terror, I would say that after this morning’s events, Senator Lieberman is in pretty good shape.
And let’s see, Susan, since I can count and you apparently cannot – Senator Lieberman received 48% of the primary vote among Democrats. Care to hazard a guess, Susan, as to how many thoroughly furious Republicans there are in Connecticut who fully intend to vote for Senator Lieberman also?
No, Susan, just as you did when you ran Michael Dukakis’ campaign for president (And how is it that you are considered an “expert” on politics after THAT debacle?), you are completely misreading the intent and will of the American people. We don’t like defeatist cowards – which means that lately, we don’t much like Democrats. And I very much suspect that the voters of Connecticut are rightly going to be angered (if they are not already there) by out-of-state moonbats telling them how to vote!
My prediction? Senator Joseph Lieberman will return to the Senate as an Independent with an overwhelming majority of Connecticut voters sending him there. And in the process of this particular re-election campaign, he will have learned one valuable lesson – never trust the modern Democratic Party.
If you live in the Eastern Daylight Savings time zone, you awakened this morning to the news that, thanks to joint efforts by the U.K. intelligence forces in the lead with our intelligence forces as backup, another Al Qaeda plot has apparently been “disrupted”, although officials refuse to characterize the situation as “thwarted” at this time. The arrest of 21 Muslim men has been announced. An additional 30-50 suspects are being sought. From the early reports, their intent was to bring liquid explosive and electrical devices onto planes flying internationally on American, United and Continental Airlines and detonate the devices in midair over heavily populated tourist areas, principally in New York, Washington, D.C. and California.
We are indeed fortunate that the New York Times didn’t learn about this round-up of terror suspects in time to warn our enemies. We are even more fortunate that we are blessed with a President of steadfast courage and determination and his counterpart in the U.K., Prime Minister Tony Blair who has consistently risked his political career (and his actual life) over the years since 9/11 as our partner in the War on Terror.
We should be thanking God for our continued safety since 9/11 and for these two fine leaders who have helped to keep us that way. We should also be thanking ourselves and every other voter who saw through the barrage of Bush Derangement Syndrome prattling and kept George W. Bush in the presidency.

Senator Joseph Lieberman
To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Ned Lamont won the Democratic primary in Connecticut. Senator Joseph Lieberman has already filed as an Independent to run for re-election to his seat. Since the Senator’s percentage of loss was only 4% (hardly a mandate although Daily Kos is characterizing it as such). And in typical moonbat fashion, Kos has the next steps all scoped out:
“Here’s what we all need to do the next few days:
1. Push Harry Reid to strip Lieberman of all committee assignments.
2. Let people know what a sore loser Lieberman is.
3. Get all Democrats — including Bill Clinton — to publicly back Ned Lamont.
4. Get the Democratic interest groups who backed Lieberman to switch allegiances in the general.
The DSCC and the DCCC will have to deal with the fact that this race will continue to suck oxygen from great pickup opportunities. And I won’t apologize for that, because as a proud Democrat, I will help in whatever way I can the Democratic nominee from the Great State of Connecticut.
The Republicans rejoiced at Lieberman’s decision to stay in. They couldn’t be happier. And let’s not talk about the lobbyists! They’re besides themselves!
Joe Lieberman is not an independent Democrat. He needs to be stripped of his committee assignments and have those handed to real Democrats. And then we need to buckle down and finish the job we started.”
Rep. Cynthia McKinney
As expected, she lost the run-off. Also as expected, she’s claiming she has been victimized. Her charges are ludicrous, her sanity is questionable and her absence from the national scene will be a relief to all, including her constituents.

Coming Into Play in Connecticut Today
Unintended Consequence #1: Senator Joseph Lieberman surprises everyone and wins the primary. This is a major slap in the face (again) to the Kos Kids who haven’t won ONE out of the 19 they’ve tried to influence so far, this one being #20. This would also constitute an ENORMOUS boost in the confidence of incumbents around the country.
Unintended Consequence #2: Lieberman loses the primary and runs for office as an independent, at which time he soundly defeats whatever nonentity being offered by the Republicans AND Ned Lamont. This is a net loss for the Democrats, a major slap in the face to the NetRoots crowd (Note - either way, they LOSE).
Unintended Consequence #3: The other incumbents running for re-election see the Connecticut results. As a result, they re-tool and re-energize their re-election campaigns while they still have AMPLE time to do so. And they all win re-election. Another defeat for the loony left.
Unintended Consequence #4: The leftwing NetRoots folks are now fully and irrevocably revealed for the racist, anti-Semitic moonbats they are! And they can’t blame President Bush - they did it to themselves.

I don’t think anyone can claim with a straight face that the mainstream media is unbiased, but there are actually some moonbats who think the media is biased toward the RIGHT! I spent some time observing the media over the weekend, involuntarily, and some more time pondering the puzzle that resulted.
As I constantly complain, my cable company won’t remove CNN from behind my on-screen solitaire game. So unless I want to use the “mute” button (which on my bedroom TV is somewhat difficult), I listen to their coverage.
I have labeled Larry King CNN’s “sycophant-in-chief” because no matter who is on his program, but especially when his guest is an attractive woman, he is wholly uncritical and never challenges anything that is said, no matter how outrageously false it may be. As anyone who knows me can attest, I have grown to dislike O’Reilly, but give the man credit, at least he does challenge an outrageous liar on the air.
Recently however, I have occasionally been somewhat startled to hear a hint of balanced coverage from CNN in their Middle East coverage. Anderson Cooper, with a habit of being entirely too subjective at the best of times, has actually backed off from that from time to time. And many of the “embedded” reporters have been similarly almost even-handed.
The New York Times is quickly getting to the point where they will be printing more retractions than news stories. This used to be a great newspaper and when I was in college (The Ohio State University, School of Journalism, Class of ’63 – yeah, I’m THAT old) it was held up as an example of what a newspaper should be. Wonder if they still do that? I hope not. It IS still an example – of how far the “paper of record” has fallen from its once lofty standards. My view is that the NYT is a hopeless case, absent a thorough change in management.
Reuters has been caught using “photo-shopped” photographs and has had to apologize. Where were their fact checkers? Where were the editors who are supposed to keep this from happening? Was this laziness? Left-wing bias? Probably both. Reuters has never struck me as the soul of unbiased journalism. It is, after all, a European news service and neither the U.S. nor Israel is all that popular with the European nations. Both nations are entirely too energetic and dynamic to suit those desiccated fossils!
Fox News Channel has consistently been the least biased of the news channels. But there are times when even they display a remarkable lack of balance. And Alan Colmes would be beyond annoying even if he WERE a conservative. I’m always surprised the liberals are willing to claim him!
I do know that the media in general has nearly always downplayed the incessant attacks on Israel, not just recently but for many, many years. Was this caused by fatigue or was it anti-Semitic? Who knows? I don’t feel comfortable assigning motive to other human beings, but I know that the appearance of cheerleading for our enemies or Israel’s enemies is nearly unending. The disconnect seems to be total. Those who are most at risk (East and West Coast and Washington, D.C.) seem to be of the opinion that if we just understand these jidhadist scum, they’ll stop trying to kill us. Is that driven by fear? Denial? Anti-Semitism? All of the foregoing? Probably so.

Hillary Rodham Clinton's hypocrisy is nearly breathtaking in its scope. For this woman, of all people, to take the Secretary of Defense to task in the way that she did yesterday was despicable, considering that HER husband is the one whoeviscerated our military and our intelligence gathering capabilities with Jamie Gorelick's "wall". And if she talks to the Secretary of Defense like this now - heavenforefendd what she would sound like if we were unlucky enough to somehow end up with another Clinton presidency! The mind sweats in abject terror!
Aside from all other considerations, she was just plain RUDE to a man who is (a) her elder, (b) considerably more experienced in government affairs than she can ever claim to be and (c) was there voluntarily. She spoke to the Secretary of Defense in the hectoring tone of an overly critical mother chiding a recalcitrant child. If she was trying to appear 'presidential' the attempt was a failure.
QUEEN NOOR - NEEDS A HISTORY LESSON!
Watched a bit of Larry King Live last night involuntarily. My digital cable has a very relaxing onscreen solitaire game but they play CNN in the background. Most annoying, that!
Unfortunately (for my night's rest), just before I turned off the television before going to bed, I heard Queen Noor proclaim that after all, the State of Israel had "driven the Palestinians from their homes". Seldom does anything strike me this way, but I actually stood in my living room with my mouth hanging open in shock for a few seconds. Naturally, Mr. King, the syncophant-in-chief at CNN, neither questioned nor corrected this erroneous statement.
Queen Noor was born in this country in 1951 when the "free" educational system was still reasonably effective, and while I do understand that she is the widow of an ARAB king, didn't little Lisa Halaby study HISTORY when she was in school in the United States? Her father was a diplomat and served in both the Kennedy and Johnson administrations. She DID graduate from Princeton, did she not? She should know that, contrary to her assertion last night, Israel did NOT drive the "Palestinians" from their homes. In fact, when the State of Israel was founded, the Jews (who know a thing or six about being driven from their homes) explicitly INCLUDED the indigenous Arab population in full citizenship.
Rather than being driven from their homes, those now known as the Palestinians (there really is no such nationality) left their homes in order to provide a clear path for their other Arab brothers to drive the Israelis "into the sea", at which point the intent was to return and reap the benefits of all the improvements the Israelis had done to the land which, under Arab stewardship, had been an arid wasteland.
Furthermore, refuting Muslim assertions that the land was theirs in the first place, considering that Islam was created some 900 years AFTER the birth of Christ, in my view both the Jews and the Christians have a far better claim to the land.

Rare snowfall across South Africa
Wed Aug 2, 2:00 PM ET
Snow fell on South Africa's biggest city Johannesburg for the first time in 25 years as icy temperatures gripped vast swathes of the country, the weather office said.
"It (the snow) is by no means freakish but I would certainly classify it as rare," said Kevin Rae, assistant manager of forecasting at the South African Weather Service in Pretoria.
Forecasters said snow was reported in the southern Johannesburg township of Soweto and the posh northern suburb of Sandton, as well as the nearby towns of Carletonville and Westonaria.
Global warming my Aunt Fanny!
Back in the day - when I was growing up - Democrats and Republicans did NOT hate each other. It just wasn’t an issue. And Senators did not march in lockstep with their parties, nor were they expected to.
Senator Frank Lausche of Ohio was a prime example of this (Okay nobody here has heard of him - but I’m OLD and I have!) because he did something that is apparently unheard of by MOST politicians these days - he voted the needs of his constituents (novel concept) and his own conscience! He used to get razzed about this and I remember that the Cleveland newspapers used to publish cartoons about “Frank’s Fence” but it was gentle ribbing, not the character assassination and ugliness being directed at Senator Lieberman.
I swear, if I had the funds, I would take a few months off, go to Connecticut and actively campaign for the Senator Lieberman just out of simple outrage at the treatment he is receiving at the hands of HIS OWN PARTY. It is an absolute disgrace. Does the nutbar left even begin to understand what a heinous thing it is doing? What an un-American behavior they are displaying? The cartoon of a United States Senator, photoshopped to show him in blackface is offensive on so many levels, I cannot even begin to list how many ways in which it is wrong.
So far as I can see, these are the following tenets of the wild-eyed, radical Democratic left:
· Racism is okay if the member of a minority being insulted is a Republican.
· It is okay for Arabs to target and kill innocent women and children.
· It is okay for Arabs to hide behind innocent women and children.
· It is NOT okay for Israel to defend itself when innocent civilians are being killed by Arabs.
· It is perfectly acceptable for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, while sober, to make anti-Semitic remarks to a campaign worker. Or racist remarks at a campaign appearance.
· It is NOT acceptable for actor Mel Gibson, while rip-roaring drunk, to make similar remarks to a California Highway Patrol officer.
· It is perfectly acceptable to denigrate the President of the United State or Republicans by likening them to Adolf Hitler.
· It is not at all acceptable to call John “Francois” Kerry a pathological liar – despite all the proof supporting that contention.
· It is perfectly acceptable and not worthy of criticism for the President of Iran to call for the complete DESTRUCTION of a sovereign state (Israel).
What is consistently amazing to me is that the leftists honestly do not see (or if they do see, they don’t care) how utterly dishonest and contemptible their point of view has become. They do not seem to recognize that offensive behavior has become an almost daily fact of life and that THEY are the primary malefactors, not the Right. They do not recognize the simple truth that were the jihadists to triumph, they would die right alongside the rest of us!

At the time of the 2000 election debacle, “venting” to O’Reilly via e-mail was the only legal outlet for my fury at what was happening. Bitch-slapping Al Gore and his entire team would not have been ladylike and having a screaming hissy-fit in front of the local election boards in West Palm Beach or Miami-Dade would probably not have accomplished anything positive (although I still think I would have enjoyed it). I think I actually HAD e-mail at home on dial-up, but certainly I had never heard of a blog.
I watched him nightly and was completely charmed by his puckish wit, his obvious intelligence and, naturally, his stated concurrence in my strongly held opinions.
Six years later, I seldom watch him and I have been analyzing how and why my attitudes toward him have changed so drastically.
1. Mr. “O” has become unbelievably pompous and his head has swelled to the point that I think it is going to explode.
2. O’Reilly’s rudeness to his guests, even those with whom one would think he basically agrees, is most annoying. Does he think we are interested in a monologue for 1 hour nightly? He isn’t THAT erudite!
3. He isn’t the only one of his kind out there any more and the others that are out there are more enjoyable and less arrogant.
4. I find his references to “the folks” to be both annoying and condescending. Tip to O’Reilly: Quite a large number of “the folks” are better educated and more intelligent than you are. And what you call “bloviating” is nothing more than correspondence from loyal viewers who are offering you their opinion – opinions which could easily be more germane and well-reasoned than your own.
5. Increasingly, he tips over into being just as “fair and balanced” as the rest of the mainstream media – in other words, not at all!
6. While I can understand in some ways his reluctant enjoyment of such liberal humbugs as Al Sharpton, he treats Sharpton with a great deal of undeserved tolerance, while reserving or eliminating the same respect and tolerance for a Michelle Malkin or a Laura Ingraham. His treatment of Ann Coulter has been downright nasty at times. Apparently Ms. Coulter poses a threat to his perceived preeminence as a “fair and balanced” pundit while Ms. Coulter’s intelligence clearly outstrips that of Mr. O’Reilly.
7. His preparation seems sloppy. I have tried very diligently to watch all the segments with Ann Coulter, and it has been obvious to me that he is interviewing Ms. Coulter based on the reading of – perhaps – one chapter or only part of a chapter in her latest book. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.
So, Mr. O’Reilly, for this viewer at least, your fifteen minutes of fame has expired, primarily at your own hand.
You’re just another cynical television hack these days!
(N.Y.) Post Wire Services
If ever there was a great reason to vote Republican, this is IT! How much do you want to bet that he won’t do it when it comes down to actually resigning?
This might be a rather simplistic question, but I’m going to ask it anyway. Why DO we give a rat’s eardrum what the U.N., the French, Kofi Annan or – for that matter – John “Francois” Kerry think about what is happening right now in the War on Terror?
Here are the facts as I see them. From my perspective, it is THIS COUNTRY that is primarily under attack (along with Britain and Israel). Therefore, logical thinking would dictate that it is OUR DECISION how we defend our country and our allies (and how they defend themselves).
The last time I looked, none of the European nations who have the brass cojones to criticize OUR country’s defense of its security and interests, has been able to defend themselves within recent memory. Actually, France would probably be speaking German today, were it not for us unsophisticated cowboy Americans.
When the European/U.N.-loving Bill Clinton (with his shrill, leftist harridan of a spouse) held office, numerous attacks on our country went unanswered, which is what led, on a most direct line, to the 2001 attacks on our nation. William Jefferson Clinton was far too busy stoking his pathological need to be loved by toadying up to those he perceived as his betters and getting blow jobs from portly interns young enough to be his daughter to care about national security. The only time he really DID care was when he was facing impeachment and then how did he react? He blew up something USEFUL – an aspirin factory in the Sudan!
Anyone with a functional brain cell knows that Hezbollah is bravely cowering behind civilian women and children in Lebanon and staging photographs of so-called victims (The same “aid worker and child” in 8 disparate locations – how STUPID do they think we are? Do they think all Americans are as gullible as Jimmy Carter? And why does ANYONE listen to the ramblings of the WORST foreign policy president of the 20th century?)
Israel is currently kicking butt and taking names and it is to OUR BENEFIT as well as their own. Iran is more likely to attack them first and Syria is not exactly afflicted with the warm fuzzies vis-à-vis Israel. I find it fascinating that the so-called intelligentsia condemn and abhor genocide everywhere in the world BUT apparently it is okay for the Islamic jihad to obliterate Israel and all its people, an intent the Islamists have expressed publicly and openly for more than 60 years! Accidentally killing Muslim babies is an horrific crime. DELIBERATELY killing Israeli babies is perfectly acceptable behavior. And if you believe either of those preceding two sentences, I strongly suggest you absent yourself from this country in perpetuity and go live on a rock or in a cave somewhere with Osama and his ilk!
What I do not understand is how is it possible that anyone who appears to be in a position of public responsibility can ignore the simple history and facts of this matter. I can only conclude that these cowardly liberals are too imbued with self-regard and abject fear of harm to their precious (?) hides to face reality. And that is pathetic. And dangerous to thee and me!

County Commissioner Lewis Cheek Will Not Pursue DA's Job
"DURHAM, N.C. -- Mike Nifong is trying to reassure voters that he's the man for the job a day after a potential challenger said he won't pursue the district attorney job.
Nifong admitted Friday that there's some justification to criticism about how he handled the media with the Duke case."
Gee Mike, you think?
Does this mean you are going to drop the charges against those INNOCENT Duke students and apologize to them as loudly as you unjustly accused them? Does that mean you are going to prosecute the so-called victim for making false statements?
Wonder how much it cost to persuade Cheek not to run against him?
Nifong appears to be among the most incompetent politicians in the country up against some seriously heavy competition!

Senator Reid victim of identity theft
About $2,000 charged to minority leader's MasterCard
From Ted BarrettCNN Washington Bureau
"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid discovered this week he was the victim of identity theft after someone used his MasterCard number to charge about $2,000 at a Wal-Mart and other stores in Monroe, North Carolina.
The Nevada Democrat said he found out someone had obtained the number after opening his bill Tuesday night.
"It's not a tremendous inconvenience for me," he said. "I won't have to pay it."
But Reid said he is steamed about the fact the perpetrator likely will never be caught. "Something has to be done," he said, holding up his now-deactivated card.
Reid said he does not know how someone obtained the number or whether he has been the victim of a broader identity theft -- a problem that affects millions of Americans every year."
Identity theft is a serious problem and one that is growing. I cannot help but wonder though:
(a) How does it feel, Senator Reid, to suffer the kinds of problems the rest of us deal with daily? Oh, it isn't going to inconvenience you at all? Well, sir, it inconveniences us in myriad ways - so once again, you just aren't one of your constituents by any means, are you?
(b) Harry, I believe the people who are responsible for the "something" that has to be done are - let me think - YOU you worthless p.o.s.!
Clearly I do not feel sorry for Senator Harry Reid.

The Israelis have now uncovered a most substantial cache of weapons and other sophisticated equipment provided to Hezbollah by Iran and Syria. Surprise, surprise? Not likely.
And still the left-leaning liberal cowards of the Democratic Party have their knickers in a knot wanting someone to please stop the killing! If the murdering lunatics of Hezbollah had stopped THEIR killing some 20-30 years ago, none of this would be happening now.
Just ONCE I would like to see the leftwingnuts be on the side of OUR OWN COUNTRY and ISRAEL for a change. Doesn't their endless anti-Semitism and anti-Americanism embarrass them even a trifle?
A reminder for those wusses on the left: The Islamofascists want to kill EVERYONE (and that includes liberal leftist cowards) who are not practicing their precise brand of Islam - worldwide. This is an easy concept if you just take a deep breath and try really, really hard. I promise, your brain will not leak out your left ear if you make the effort.
This is America. This is the country that has a cowboy for President and is damned glad of it. I will NOT apologize for George W. Bush to anyone. I am proud of my country and I am proud of my president. If you don't like it - go read another blog!
“To put it bluntly, Republicans support Bolton's nomination precisely because of his clarity of thought and speech -- and his unapologetic representation of America's interests. Democrats oppose him because they sympathize with the negative view of Bolton held by foreign envoys who have anything but the best interests of the United States in mind. If it bothers you that we have a staunch defender of America's interests serving as our ambassador to the United Nations and believe, instead, that we should routinely subordinate our interests to other nations openly hostile to us and contemptuous of the very idea of human rights, then you, too, should join the liberal chorus against confirmation of this fine public servant.” (David Limbaugh)
This country is our home and our responsibility and John Bolton takes his duties to both seriously. He has no patience with fools and knaves and heaven knows the U.N. is almost entirely populated with those.
Mr. Bolton does not consider it worthwhile for our nation to take moral advice from such financially and morally bankrupt nations as France, or human rights advice from someplace like China, Cuba or Libya – all flagrant human rights violators.
When is it supposed to have become passé to believe in this country – its purpose and promise? If one listened to most Democrats, this is no longer politically correct. And folks, if that is political correctness then I say – screw political correctness.
This nation is the hope of the world – and always has been. The minute we allow ourselves to forget our origins and our hopes for the future, that hope will be doomed, for ourselves and for others around the world.
If we can’t just kick these world-weary cynics out of our country altogether (and I wish we would), then John Bolton is the next best temporary measure. It is high time this great nation stopped apologizing for itself and started standing tall and proclaiming that if they don’t like us, they don’t have to meet here or take our money any longer!

Mind you - there are a few words that might offend a few delicate souls!
My sister sent me this from her friend Juan in California:
I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pants pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry & that the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again.
I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was by now enthralled with my story, particularly a tall guy who was behind her.
Horrified, she asked if I'd been poisoned. I told her no; I'd been sitting in the street licking my balls and a car hit me.

The ABA group, which includes a one-time FBI director and former federal appeals court judge, said the president has overstepped his authority in attaching challenges to hundreds of new laws.
The attachments, known as bill-signing statements, say Bush reserves a right to revise, interpret or disregard measures on national security and constitutional grounds.
"This report raises serious concerns crucial to the survival of our democracy," said the ABA's president, Michael Greco. "If left unchecked, the president's practice does grave harm to the separation of powers doctrine, and the system of checks and balances that have sustained our democracy for more than two centuries."”
I think it is far more likely that the American Bar Association would pose a threat to our REPUBLIC and its laws than would the President of the United States. The ABA (well-known bastion of trial attorneys and no friend to the center or the right) has shown neither friendship nor favor to the President of the United States.
Now, apparently, the ABA is setting itself up as a body superior to the United States Supreme Court.
Here’s a clue: THE ABA DOESN’T DECIDE the constitutionality of our nation’s laws. The U.S. Supreme Court has that happy task. In the meantime, I would suggest that the ABA address the numerous excesses committed by its trial lawyer members on a daily basis and quit putting its nose in where it doesn’t belong.
Bunch of arrogant asshats! To quote friend Marty: "I hate lawyers!"
According to the poll results published in yesterday's Columbus Dispatch, both Ted Strickland and Sherrod Brown are leading in the races for Ohio Governor and Mike DeWine's U.S. Senate seat from Ohio.
Is this what Ohio voters really want? I don't know much about Sherrod Brown (but I will be researching him), but I DO KNOW that Mike DeWine is doing a very good job for Ohioans. A much better job than his colleague, the ever disappointing George Voinovich.
As to Strickland, here are some FACTS about this candidate that he is not publicizing:
Is this the best the Ohio Democratic Party can come up with?
Here is a brief introduction to Ted Strickland. Remember, he is running as a "former Methodist minister, psychologist, congressman, and husband" (latest radio ad running on Christian radio). I have provided links for those of you who would like to check the source of this information. I encourage you to forward this to friends and others who would like to know about the Democrat candidate for governor.
Family
Strickland, age 65, married at the age of 46. He and his wife live in different states. He lives in Ohio and DC, she lives in Kentucky. The Stricklands have no children. http://pullinsreport.blogspot.com/2006/06/article-adds-fire-to-strickland-gay.html
Faith
Although Strickland is introduced in virtually every forum as a "former Methodist minister," he is not a member of any church, and attends church only occasionally. http://www.daytondailynews.com/project/content/project/faith-in-politics/
Strickland is running as a "moderate Methodist minister," I assume his campaign would list any church employment prominently. None is.
Career
Strickland worked at the Kentucky United Methodist Children's Home, apparently in the late 1960's. It is unclear how many years he worked there. Although many sources claim he was the "Director" of the home, his website has been changed to report that he was only "an administrator." http://www.tedstrickland.com/content/26/about-ted-strickland
While doing graduate work at the University of Kentucky in the early '80's, Strickland became a part-time prison psychologist at the Lucasville federal prison. He became a part-time assistant professor of psychology at Shawnee State in 1989. Apparently, he did held both positions part-time until he was elected to Congress in 1992. The infamous Lucasville prison riots were in 1993.
Strickland left "the ministry" no later than 1980. He was first elected to Congress in 1992. Despite this gap of at least 12 years, Strickland's current 2006 website claims he is simply "on leave from the ministry."
Politics
Overview: As a single man, Strickland ran for Congress in 1976, 1978, and 1980. He lost each election. Some have suggested it was "not helpful" to run for Congress in the 1970's as a single man in your late 30's. Strickland married at the age of 46. He was elected to Congress in 1992, but was a "Contract With America" casualty in 1994 after voting for huge tax increases and helping Hillary Clinton push her national health care plan. He was elected again in 1996, and has been in office ever since. http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060416/NEWS09/604160666
Work ethic: Strickland has missed more House votes than all but two (2) representatives. http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/109/house/vote-missers/
Effectiveness: Strickland is ranked the #402 "most effective" Congressman, and ranked the #430 "most influential" out of 438 listed representatives. http://www.congress.org/congressorg/power_rankings/overall.tt (Great website, by the way.)
Strickland's ranking is lower than a non-voting delegate from Samoa. In other words, the man who wants to be lead Ohio as Governor is one of the least effective members of Congress, even after 12 years in office.
Voting record: Strickland boasts a 95% ranking for 2005 from the liberal Americans for Democratic Action. Proving that 2005 was not a fluke, here are Strickland's scores for previous years. See if you can identify a trend in Strickland's voting record!

Given the current state of play, my attitude is that the Israelis should continue doing what they are doing until both Hamas and Hezbollah are eradicated from this planet. Failing that, until they are so decimated by the Israeli attacks that it is many generations before they can regroup and rearm. And, in the meantime, it's time for all the nations of the Western world to make the message unmistakeably clear to Syria and Iran that further encouragement of Hamas and Hezbollah will lead to our nation considering a nuclear option vis-a-vis these two troublemaking lunatic theocracies/nations.
The bottom line is that Islam wants to conquer the entire world. They have never made a secret of it - EVER. They aren't making a secret of it now. So it's time for the entire Western world (all of whom are threatened, whether they are whiney surrender junkies are not) to show some cojones and once and for all, put these evildoers in their place. And it is equally time for us to do so in order to demonstrate to the "dear leader" in North Korea, the consequences of continued intransigence.

“The greatest mistake Israel could make at the moment is to forget that Israel itself is a mistake. It is an honest mistake, a well-intentioned mistake, a mistake for which no one is culpable, but the idea of creating a nation of European Jews in an area of Arab Muslims (and some Christians) has produced a century of warfare and terrorism...”
What in the name of anything reasonable is this befuddled creature smoking!? Richard, darling, did you graduate GRADE SCHOOL? And if you did, were you ever listening in class?
The Jewish people have been in the area that now comprises Israel for some 3,500 years! And lest you have forgotten, Islam was invented some 900 YEARS after Jesus walked this earth! It is the murdering, bloodthirsty, fanatical sociopathic Muslims that are the latecomers to the party!
What, did you think that if you just put together a foolishness like this article in today’s WaPo that the Muslims wouldn’t notice your last name and would, therefore, spare you any inconvenience (like death)?
You do not understand still that the Islamofascists want to destroy ALL non-Muslims, do you?
That is what makes you an IDIOT!
There’s an article in today’s Guardian (UK) where it reports a study that shows that “The research found that 40% of Muslims blamed anti-Islamic feelings on the media, while 74% of non-Muslims blamed Islamophobia on the 9/11 bombings.”
Gosh, isn’t that interesting? I thought that distrust and dislike of Islam stemmed from their desire to – oh, I don’t know – kill everyone who IS NOT a Muslim!
If the mainstream media reported EVERYTHING horrific done by Muslims to non-Muslims (like bombing school buses, beheading innocent civilians, flying planes into office buildings), the State of Israel would not be having to fight OUR fight for us alone – trying to eradicate Hezbollah and Hamas lunatic murdering scum – half the population of this country would be volunteering to help with the project.
What I don’t get is how on earth the liberals and the “peace at any price” wusses in this country can justify their attitude. Have they honestly never really read and understood history? It didn’t work for Neville Chamberlain's government when he tried to proclaim “Peace in our time!” after Chamberlain’s attempts to appease Adolf Hitler. Kissing the butt of a bully NEVER works. The bully is just going to escalate until you smack him down firmly and unmistakably.
And to you confused Muslims in Britain – here’s the deal – as long as your co-religionist go around the world threatening the lives and security of non-Muslims, we aren’t going to think too highly of you and you should NOT wonder why!
Religion of peace my Aunt Fanny!

I have concluded, after sober consideration, that Mike Nifong of Durham, N.C. is a boneheaded baboon. Does anyone know where he got his law degree? Was mail order involved?
Okay, seriously folks, here’s the official stats on this guy from his website:
“A life-long resident of North Carolina, District Attorney Mike Nifong was born in Wilmington, where he graduated from New Hanover High School. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a Herbert W. Jackson scholarship, graduating Phi Beta Kappa with an A.B. degree in Political Science in 1971.
Although he had decided on an eventual career in law while still in high school, Nifong worked for his first year after graduation from UNC as a teacher of mathematics and boys’ physical education in Southport. This was followed by a three-year stint as a social worker with the New Hanover County Department of Social Services in Wilmington before he finally enrolled in the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1975.
Upon graduation from the UNC School of Law and admission to the North Carolina Bar in 1978, Nifong sought a position as an Assistant District Attorney on the theory that it would be the best ticket to what he foresaw as a career in litigation. Initially unable to find such a job within the geographic confines of his search area, he volunteered to serve as an unpaid attorney with the District Attorney’s Office in Durham beginning in October 1978. That choice proved to be fortuitous, as District Attorney Dan K. Edwards, Jr., quickly secured funds to pay him on a full-time per diem basis.”
So those who are claiming (as if this would be a badge of honor) that he’s a graduate of Harvard Law clearly don’t have their facts about Mike Nifong straight. The information on his own website indicate that he was no superstar in law school. The superstars get recruited by the big law firms. As to the suggestion that Mike Nifong belongs to MENSA? I belong to that organization and have for nearly 40 years. You would not BELIEVE the characters the organization attracts and the complete lack of life skills that affect far too many of its membership. They are brilliant, that’s a given. But able to cope on a day-to-day basis. A certain amount of impairment is noticeable.
Mike Nifong doesn’t seem to be getting ANY facts straight about the so-called rape “victim” in the prosecution (persecution seems more and more likely) of three Duke University lacrosse players.
Nifong has been parsimonious in doling out the discovery materials to the defense attorneys for the three hapless victims of what I consider to be Nifong’s re-election scam, but sufficient details have emerged that show (in my opinion) conclusively that Nifong has no case and that “Precious” the “stripper” is lying through her teeth. We KNOW she had sex that night – and we know with whom. And they (apparently there were 3 “suitors” involved) weren’t WHITE and they didn’t go to DUKE and they didn’t play LACROSSE. And theirs is the ONLY DNA in evidence.
And now new evidence has emerged from the alleged victim’s cell phone records (records Prosecutor Nifong was curiously reluctant to release, although he is legally bound to do so), that she was ON HER CELL PHONE talking to her escort service during the time period when she claims she was being raped. Uh huh! And she never mentioned to whoever was on the other end of the line that she was having a spot of trouble? Yeah, right!
Prosecutor Nifong was extremely chatty during the time period leading up to the primary election and has been strangely reticent since then. Why is that, I wonder? Or maybe I don’t wonder at all.
What all of this has put into my mind is the prevalence of rape accusations and molestation accusations that have been bandied about so freely during the last 15-20 years. Women have discovered that, thanks to some over-the-top feminist rhetoric that has been published over the past 25 years, many women consider ALL MEN to be rapists. And there is power in being able to impose your will on someone who is physically stronger and perhaps more powerful in the eyes of the world by means of a false allegation of paternity, domestic abuse, child abuse or rape. And while I fully and completely understand that many of the shield laws were put in place to protect women’s reputations, maybe we’ve taken that just a tad too far? I guess what I’m saying is if the ACCUSER’S identity in one of these cases is shielded, then unless and until there is a CONVICTION in a court of law, shouldn’t the ACCUSED’S identity be protected as well? Because even one instance such as the current Durham persecution of three almost-certainly innocent college boys is one too many.
Finally, once again we come down to the simple notion that every right has a corresponding RESPONSIBILITY. So these kinds of allegations should not be made, prosecuted or publicized rashly and without basis.
That seems like a simple bit of common sense to me. What’s your take on it?

John Edwards apparently still wants to be President of the United States. The former senator, who most agree would not have won re-election to a second Senate term in his own state and who was part of the failed Kerry-Edwards Presidential Ticket in 2004 and even then was unable to deliver South Carolina to the ticket, is busily wooing (but perhaps not wooing?) voters in Iowa.
Senator Edwards' platform appears to have fighting poverty as a central plank. Shades of Lyndon Baines Johnson! Everything old really is new again.
We have spent trillions of dollars fighting poverty for at least the last 40-50 years. And today, just as many people are still poor. So how's your program any different Senator? No answer? Kinda thought not! If Democrats during the Johnson years, when they were the majority in both Houses of Congress, were unable to win the War on Poverty, what makes this self-promoting huckster believe that he can do better?
Leftwing Democrats dearly love to appeal to class envy in their campaigns. Their adherents may not have consciously bought into the leftwing ideology of soaking the productive to support the non-productive, but they are quite comfortable benefiting from that ethos. Wonder what the too-slick-by-half Edwards would respond if someone suggested to him that a great deal of poverty exists because of poor life choices and a general lack of ambition?
My friend Marty loves to watch "Law and Order", particularly the SVU franchise. Inevitably, halfway through the program (usually when the suspect is being arraigned and his defense attorney is trying to make the prosecution's life unbearable), Marty will pronounce "I hate lawyers!" with some force. John Edwards is the kind of lawyer who cause people like Marty to feel that way. Edwards is glib, utterly cynical, and his sincerity would fit on the head of a pin with enough room left over for Bill Clinton's morality and a Hollywood agent's integrity! We have already rejected him for public office. It would be seemly of him to just go away! But like many who are so-called public figures, he doesn't have the common sense to know when to relieve us of his presence.
John Edwards, Breck girl extraordinaire, your 15 minutes are up! If you would so kindly take Cindy Sheehan, Howard Dean, Jimmy Carter, John Murtha, Francois Kerry and Harry Reid by the hand and all then all of you could just fade back into obscurity whence you came. You would then have at least made a small contribution to the America you claim to love.

I am now convinced that Pinch Sulzberger, Bill Keller and their colleagues at the New York Times will only be satisfied when the newspaper goes bankrupt and ceases to publish or when they have been arrested, tried and convicted of treason. That is the only explanation I can come up with as to what is driving the management of this once-great newspaper to proceed along their current course of dangerously poor judgment.
Over the years, the New York Times has displayed an increasingly left-wing bent, while also melding fact reporting and opinion pieces on an almost daily basis, on every page of the paper. And there have been times when they have published “top secret” governmental materials which any reasonably sane and patriotic American knows should not have been done. When they published the story about the top secret SWIFT program, however, I believe the newspaper moved from really risky business into the area of downright treason, while at the same time endangering the lives of each and every American citizen – but PRIMARILY those on the East and West Coasts of this country (the terrorists’ prime targets). What could they possibly be thinking?
And now they have gone one step further in their recklessness by publishing the locations of the homes of the Vice President of the United States and the Secretary of Defense, among others. Is it their intention to generate a terrorist attack upon these public officials? Do they wish to point a deranged bunch of killers at the Secretary of Defense? Or are the editors of the NYT so steeped in arrogance that they feel that anything THEY wish to print is fit to print?
When are the people of this country going to rise up and let these useful idiots know that their behavior is no longer to be tolerated? The sooner the better would work for me!

I am the daughter of a most determined woman. That is why I was born at 11:56 p.m. on July 3, 1942. Irene Savko Miller considered having a “firecracker” baby to be just too corny.
My mother was a deeply patriotic woman. She was the child of legal immigrants to this country and she always considered it to be her good fortune to be born here instead of her parents’ native Hungary. It is from her I believe I have inherited my impatience with pretension, arrogance and dishonesty together with love of my country.
Following, as my own personal celebration of my birthday, are the people who chapped my hide during the first half of 2006:
*John Murtha. If his family truly loved him, they would get him expert psychiatric care at once.
*Howard Dean. Every time he opens his yap, he proves how prescient the American people were in rejecting his presidential bid. If Howard Dean didn’t exist, Karl Rove would have to invent him.
*John Francois Kerry. See below.
*Cindy Sheehan. I know your pain and loss are beyond comprehension. That is not an excuse for stupidity, nor is it a mitigation of your anti-American behavior and your comprehensive disregard of the heroic sacrifice made by your son who was – if you’ll recall – a volunteer in the U.S. Army. You are NOT honoring Casey Sheehan by cozying up to Hugo Chavez, Michael Moore and other slime of their ilk.
*The U.S. Senate. Here’s the deal you marble-skulled dimwits. ILLEGAL INVADERS do not deserve ANYTHING from the American people (Remember us – the people you work for?) except ejection from this country. Generally speaking, the American people have no problem with LEGAL immigration to this country. But we take a pretty dim view of people who break our laws by sneaking into our country illegally and then demanding privileges! So no guys – NO FREAKING AMNESTY, okay?
*Hillary Rodham Clinton. I find her chameleon-like ability to morph her persona endlessly somewhat fascinating, if a little creepy. But I cannot help but remember that her essential persona long before she met Bill was that of an avowed Marxist and nowhere, at any time, have I ever seen that philosophy disavowed by her.
*Critics of Ann Coulter’s new book “Godless”. If you are criticizing the book based on the fact that you have read the totality of the book, that is one thing. But nearly all critics that I have encountered have focused their entire critique of the book on her (very valid) criticisms of FOUR 9/11 widows, the so-called “Jersey Girls”. Those comments occupied a mere 2 paragraphs in a rather lengthy and well written, thoughtful and thoroughly researched book. Furthermore, the shrill hysteria from these various critics pretty much prove Ann’s point – that the left cannot have an honest debate. When challenged they will resort to name calling and insults.
*“Pinch” Sulzberger, Bill Keller, et al. There will be a special place reserved for you in excessively hot place if my prayers have any effect whatsoever.
Apparently the poseur from Massachusetts (the junior Senator, not the bloviating, alcohol-soaked senior Senator) has decided that this country still needs him to run for president.
He has apparently decided that the best way to do this is to delve into the Swift Boat Veterans campaign against him in 2004. The lack of judgment displayed by this one decision is proof sufficient that John F. Kerry should NEVER, EVER be president of these United States.
The Swift Boat Veterans are generally described as "discredited" (at least by the DNC-lapdog MSM) when in fact, that is completely untrue. Nearly all of their charges against John F. Kerry were proven to be completely accurate. Moreover, an interesting detail still lingers. That is, Le Fraude promised to release his entire military records. Hasn't happened to date; don't hold your breath. My guess is that Senator Kerry doesn't dare release those records, most particularly because they will reveal a dishonorable discharge based on his violation of UCMJ by traveling to Paris and meeting with the North Vietnamese delegation (a) while we were still at war with North Vietnam and (b) while HE was still on active reserve. Ergo, he doesn't DARE blow his fantasy image of himself as some sort of "war hero" when in fact, he is the precise opposite.
If only for his defamation of his fellow soldiers fighting in Vietnam, he deserves to never, ever be considered for the presidency. And yes, that IS the voice of bitterness. The man I loved was killed toward the end of his third tour of duty in Vietnam. He had been wounded (and not superficial bandaid wounds) four times during those 3 tours and never did he invoke a privilege to come home (and yes, I wish he had). So John Kerry's measely 4 months of (mostly) manuevering to weasel out of his service via superficial if not largely nonexistent war wounds does not impress me.
I don't know if my tired old bones and digestion could take another election season of "I have a plan" John Kerry. Did you ever notice - he always said he "had a plan" but he never told us what that plan consisted of?
I do know that this country has enough problems without adding his regurgitated candidacy to it.

The New York Times
229 West 43rd Street
New York, NY 10036
Dear Mr. Keller:
As a graduate of The Ohio State University School of Journalism, I am writing to tell you how very disappointed and disgusted I have become with the editorial policies of the New York Times, once a great newspaper and now only fit to line a birdcage – if you don’t like your bird!
For you to say that you found arguments by the President and administration officials against publishing top-secret information as “puzzling” and “half-hearted” is about as disingenuous as anything I have heard in recent years. The people of this country are quite intelligent, despite your paper’s belief to the contrary.
I hope that the government prosecutes you (as it should have done years ago) for your arrogant disregard of national security in your headlong rush to destroy the presidency of President George W. Bush.
A few salient comments:
· The people of this country did not elect ANYONE at the New York Times to “preserve, protect and defend” this country. They DID elect George W. Bush – twice! And don’t start that “selected not elected” crap. It doesn’t fly because there exists enormous empirical evidence to prove that both times the election was valid.
· The function of a journalist – and of a newspaper – is to report FACTS in its news pages and opinions on the opinion pages, rather than the reverse. What your reporter “feels” about a certain set of facts is WHOLLY irrelevant; it is his or her job to report the facts without nuance or spin. I learned this at Ohio State – why didn’t any of YOUR staff?
· I absolutely believe in freedom of the press. I do NOT believe in license. Moreover, your RESPONSIBILITIES as journalists are equal in seriousness to your rights. You cannot have one without the other and call yourselves an admirable newspaper. Clearly, nobody at the Times understands that, which is why the Times has become worse than anything ever printed by William Randolph Hearst at his most lurid!
My fondest wish – and my active campaign henceforth – will be to see you – and Pinch Sulzberger (And why is a supposedly adult male going by such a puerile nickname?) – and the entire editorial staff of the New York Times taken out of the Times building in handcuffs, arraigned, held without bail, tried AND convicted of treason and sedition, as well as aid and comfort to enemies of this country in time of war. Further, it is my dearest wish that you all be incarcerated for a sufficient amount of time (preferably not in some white collar country club prison) to persuade others in your profession to start exercising their rights in a responsible manner – something you have utterly failed to do.
Do I believe that you and all your brethren at the New York Times are utterly irredeemable disgraces to your profession and the nation? You bet I do! And I am far from being the only one.
Enjoy your undeserved liberty while you can. My hope and intent is that it will soon come to an end for 5-10 years or longer!

But surely Carter is merely part of what most people regard as a tiny cadre of "climate change skeptics" who disagree with the "vast majority of scientists" Gore cites?
No; Carter is one of hundreds of highly qualified non-governmental, non-industry, non-lobby group climate experts who contest the hypothesis that human emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) are causing significant global climate change. "Climate experts" is the operative term here. Why? Because what Gore's "majority of scientists" think is immaterial when only a very small fraction of them actually work in the climate field.

Senator John F. Kerry is preparing or has already submitted new legislation designed to withdraw our troops from Iraq “by a date certain”. The Democrats WANT the “great unwashed public” (that would be US folks) to believe that they are just as capable of pursuing the War on Terror as the Republicans. Which of course is why Senator Kerry has decided to undermine the U.S. war effort – in an effort to make the Democrats relevant. According to that great sage, Senator Kerry: “This will legitimize the new Iraqi government, enable the Iraqis to become more self-reliant, and undermine support for the insurgency."
How Senator Kerry has reached that conclusion I’m sure I can’t tell you. But then this great foreign policy thinker and military tactician (He did serve in Vietnam – for a whole 4 months doncha know – or so he says. Of course, since he won’t release his ENTIRE military record for some odd reason, we can’t confirm any of that!) last made a major effort of this kind when he returned from his less-than-stellar (my characterization and I’m sticking to it) service in Vietnam by first lying about the activities of our troops serving over there in testimony before the U.S. Congress (and thereby earning the well-justified disgust and dislike of the soldiers who served honorably in that conflict – the vast majority - and those of us who were widowed as a result of it). Then Mr. Kerry, while still an active reserve officer, journeyed to Paris to meet with the Vietcong representatives at the peace talks, without the knowledge or consent of the U.S. State Department and in violation of United States law.
But I digress (vehement dislike of John Kerry affects me that way). If I were an insurgent and the U.S. announced that on a specific date it was going to withdraw all or part of its troops from Iraq, I’d just hunker down, build up my resources and wait for that day to launch a major offensive to defeat the nascent Iraqi democracy! Now I’m no policy expert, but I suspect that even a three year old would understand that. But not Senator Kerry and not any of his pals in the Democratic Party.
I don’t understand the antipathy of these quisling traitors to everything this country stands for. Do they not understand that THEIR LIVES are just as much at risk as OUR LIVES? Do they not understand that until we are certain – whenever that is – that the Iraq government can defend and perpetuate itself as a democracy, we would be dishonoring the memories of those who have already died to achieve that result? Or are they THAT craven, that pathetic, that disgusting? Do the members of the current Democratic Party and its support system, including the “old” media, have no appreciation or love for the country that has permitted them to live in a way possible in no other country in this world?
Apparently not! And more’s the pity.
Karl Rove will NOT be indicted – not now and not ever. Thus spake that incredibly incompetent special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald who has so far indicted ONE former White House aide (“Scooter” Libby, former aide to Vice President Dick Cheney) – not for “outing” Valerie Plame, the NON-undercover CIA employee, but for supposedly lying about something or other in this investigation of a non-criminal action. (And by the way, how much has this investigation cost us taxpayers so far?)
I am sure that the tinfoil-hat-wearing crowd is in a state of absolute shock, anger and total denial over this. TruthOut.org had a story that Rove had been indicted May 13. They promised to “out” their sources if this proved to be untrue. Don’t hold your breath unless you look really good in blue! I mean, folks, we’re still waiting for John Kerry’s military records.
DNC Chair Howard Dean was on NBC's 'TODAY': 'If Karl Rove had been indicted it would have been for perjury. That does not excuse his real sin which is leaking the name of an intelligence operative during the time of war. He doesn't belong in the White House. If the President valued America more than he valued his connection to Karl Rove, then Karl Rove would have been fired a long time ago. So I think this is probably good news for the White House, but its not very good news for America'... Dr. Howard Dean – judge, jury and executioner. If you have proof of any of that, you asshat, why didn’t you provide it to Fitzgerald? Oh you don’t have proof, you say? Well then, why don’t you shut your lying piehole! I am so OVER these people!
First of all, Valerie Plame was NOT an undercover intelligence operative – she was a desk jockey at the CIA and her husband, that acclaimed and proven liar, Joe Wilson was the one who initially “outed” her – this is a non story from the beginning. But of course, expecting any kind of reality or common sense from Howard Dean (or far too many of the Democratic Party) is like expecting donkeys to fly. And Dr. Dean is, as usual, being completely disingenuous. He doesn’t WANT Karl Rove in the White House (nor does any Democrat) because Karl Rove is their worst nightmare.
And for any member of the anti-American American left – and especially Howard Dean - to accuse President George W. Bush of not valuing America is such despicable demagoguery that it just boggles the mind.
How long, dear Lord, must we continue to be plagued by these vipers in our bosom? How long before they are so thoroughly repudiated by an overwhelming majority of the American people that they just shut up and slink away?
(sigh)
There is good reason to believe that perhaps the mainstream media’s rush to judgment on the Haditha story has left a lot to be desired – as in facts. And while the final investigation report is not yet in, it is entirely possible that – as usual – the mainstream media’s unsupported indictment of our Marines was way overblown. Yes, people were killed at Haditha. But it is not now clear whether this was some overreaction by the Marines or whether the insurgents, as is their habit, were sheltering themselves behind women and children as they attacked the Marines. In any event, the story as it first broke is unraveling as we speak.
It must suck to be the mainstream media these days. I mean, Rush Limbaugh was bad enough, but now every alert and intelligent person with access to a computer can blow the MSM’s lying hatchet jobs right out of the water. The Left no longer owns the rights to information and what they did to the United States military at the time of Vietnam cannot be replicated unchallenged.
I do lay a lot of the blame for this story at the feet of Rep. Murtha. It occurs to me that it would be a “good thing” if the families of all the active military (particularly Marine families) in his district would go door to door campaigning for his opponent and while doing so, expose him for the lying cretin he is!

EDWARD MOORE KENNEDY
Senator for 44 years. Have the people of Massachusetts EVER gotten their money’s worth?
His latest bloviating tirade has to do with the Defense of Marriage constitutional amendment:
“A vote for this amendment is a vote for bigotry, pure and simple.” Thus spoke Sen. Ted Kennedy in reference to the Marriage Protection Amendment being debated in the Senate today.
Senator Kennedy’s moral resume hardly qualifies him as a moral arbiter. Starting with his expulsion from Harvard for cheating on exams, to what I consider his utter culpability in the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, his own advanced alcoholism which is evident on his bloated face, to his adulterous behavior in his first marriage which cannot have helped his first wife Joan’s emotional and alcohol related problems, to his current unsanctified marriage (the Catholic Church doesn’t DO divorce folks – at least not in his case), I seriously doubt that his late brothers, however morally suspect they might have been when it came to women, would find much to approve in his relentlessly anti-American locutions.
And yet, he has the brass balls to RANT about a constitutional amendment that would reinforce the Catholic Church’s position on marriage. In a just world, he would be publicly chastised and THEN excommunicated on the grounds of causing scandal. In fact, I’m hard pressed to understand why he has not yet been on the receiving end of a trip to the wood shed, courtesy of the Pope – present or former.

It is time for our country to start taking the War On Terror seriously in a way that we have not done since the invasion of Afghanistan and the toppling of the Taliban.
The mainstream media (aka useful idiots) has mounted an energetic and spirited campaign (also known as “Bush Derangement Syndrome”) since the election of George W. Bush before 9/11 (yes, kids, he DID win that election – now get over it) and it shows no sign of diminishing any time soon. And this campaign has undermined our President’s ability to wage the war on terror in many ways.
Coupled with that is President Bush’s unaccountable deference to President Vicente Fox of Mexico, a slick con artist if ever I have seen one. For anyone who was paying attention, on the day AFTER the atrocity of 9/11, President Fox was instructing our country not to use the attacks on our country as an excuse to close our borders! At the time I thought, what unbelievable gall the man had. Nothing he has said or done since then has changed my mind.
So long as President Bush and our completely airheaded Congress is willing to let President Fox fob off his indigent population on AMERICAN TAXPAYERS by preventing us from securing our own borders, we will not be a secure nation. It’s bad enough that Canada can and does let most anybody into their country – we at least have some control at our northern border (not much, but at least SOME), while our Southern border is virtually wide open!
No, the Senate Immigration Reform bill is NOT good law and it is not good policy for the security of our nation. The House bill is much closer to what the American people want (understandable since I have always felt that the House is closer to and more responsive to the people who pay their salaries – they have to be since they’re up for re-election every 2 years) and anyone who suggests that the House of Representatives defer to the Senate in this area will earn my undying contempt!
Either we want this Republic to survive or we do not. It is tempting indeed for conservatives to think about deserting the Republican Party because heaven knows, they haven’t shown much loyalty to us. However, by visibly supporting incumbent Republicans in their re-election bids and keeping the majority in both Houses, if for no other reason than to piss off Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid which is a noble goal in and of itself, as well as prevent their planned asinine impeachment proceedings against President Bush a distraction we do NOT need while we are trying to defeat Islamofascists – will give us more currency in affecting the direction of the House and Senate than any other. Ah hell, even Lincoln Chafee is (marginally) better than most of the Democrats in the Congress, although I would urge Connecticut to re-elect Joe Lieberman who is one of the few SANE Democrats serving in the Senate.
That’s my opinion at any rate!
