ANOTHER LOOK AT IRRITATING COMMERCIALS

That almost seems as though I'm being over-the-top since almost all commercials (except the State Farm ones) are irritating.

Here's a suggestion to all advertising agencies - especially the ones working for Sears and KMart - using shrill, childlike voices in all your commercials is guaranteed to turn off listeners because the sound is offensive to our ears! In fact, and this may be a touch of hyperbole, it's likely in my opinion that Sears' and KMart's woes this Christmas season could be traced to those irritating commercials. And thank goodness the Toys 'R Us commercial deluge is over - the voice over in that commercial nearly had me screeching in fury! I have perfect pitch and bad sounds really get on my nerves.

In the "You get what you pay for" category - WalMart must have paid upwards of $1.98 for their commercials this year, so stupid were they! Thank goodness I DVR most everything I watch so I was able to sprint through the stupidity! Or does WalMart think that everyone who shops there is pretty much a lamebrain?

The fiber commercial where the wife opines that her husband needs more fiber in his diet, he whines that fiber makes him sad and then - rudely - snatches her fiber bar from her hand - that commercial just offends me on so many levels I cannot even count them.

The singers in some commercials are so bad that you know in your heart you will never buy the product.

Flo in the Progressive insurance commercials is getting irritating and I wouldn't buy insurance from them anyway, leftwing ownership being the deciding factor.

The Geico gecko is starting to wear a tad thin and they aren't that good an insurer anyway, or so I've been told.

I've been with Nationwide for years and intend to continue that practice, even though they are changing my agent to someone I don't know. At least I HAVE an agent.

Finally, there is the doofus who is going to "power wash" his deck sending his long-suffering wife to the Excedrin bottle. That pretentious, pompous ass would be divorced so fast he wouldn't know what hit him and his "not just washed but power washed" crap! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that when the table on the deck is set for guests, you don't blow the table settings to hell and gone!

There are certain buzzwords being over-used in commercials - "discreet" shipping (sometimes more than twice in any given commercial), "clinical proof" (or variations thereof). Don't these advertising writers have any access to a thesaurus?

So what commercials are driving you nuts this holiday season? Share folks!

UPDATE: "That's for babies" is back too! The most annoying and spoiled child on Planet Earth? Possibility!

THE IOWA CAUCUS AND OTHER FANTASIES

Why are these peculiar proceedings considered to be so crucial to a campaign for the nomination of the Republican Party? They don't even represent the votes of all Iowa Republican voters, but rather the votes of a selected, albeit an admittedly active bunch!

I think that the press, reluctant to think for themselves as they are, need something to tell them which way the wind is blowing!

Well take note of this lamestream media - it ain't blowing from Iowa and Mitt Romney is not liked by most Republican voters.

We need to stop being ashamed of who we are, we need to kick the butts of those mandarins at the RNC and tell them that they aren't representing our needs, wishes and beliefs and start standing up for the conservative views of most ground level Republicans. The basic views of conservatives are that we are proud to be Americans, proud of our history (overall), proud of our independence and self-reliance. We aren't ashamed to work hard and achieve. We aren't ashamed that we hold serious moral values, we aren't ashamed that we value life and we aren't embarrassed that we aren't freaking Europe!

Ron Paul is a lunatic when it comes to foreign policy. Mitt Romney is a willow reed, blowing whichever way he thinks will get him the nomination - not a man of principles and courage. Newt Gingrich, with all his flaws, may be our best candidate.

And what's with all this "endorsing" by fellow Republicans. What's that crap? It was once an article of faith that during the primaries, no Republican endorsed another Republican because in the end, that would only harm the entire party?

Apparently that is considered old-fashioned values these days and that is a big doggone shame!

I'm still sticking with Newt. He is not ashamed to stand up for what he believes in and as flawed as he is - he's one hell of a lot more competent than any of the other candidates!

NOT ORIGINAL WITH ME BUT SENT BY COUSIN STU IN MEXICO
Lesson # 1
Why the U.S. credit rating was downgraded.
 U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000
 Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000
 New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000
 National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
 Recent budget cuts: $ 38,500,000,000
Let's now remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget:
 Annual family income: $21,700
 Money the family spent: $38,200
New debt on the credit card: $16,500
Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
 Total budget cuts: $385
Got it?

OK. Here's another way to look at the Debt Ceiling...
Lesson # 2

Let's say, You come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood....and your home has sewage all the way up to your ceilings. What do you think you should do? Raise the Ceilings, or pump out the sewage?
Your Choice is coming November 2012 for all incumbents

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

I'm going to refrain from posting to this blog until after Christmas Day unless something egregious happens, in which case, all bets are off.

In the interim, please have a very Merry Christmas and a most safe, sane and prosperous New Year, despite the moron in the White House!

CAN OUR PRESIDENT READ?

Apparently he hasn't read the Constitution. Or he doesn't care. Constitutional lawyer my Aunt Fanny! He is warning legislators - a trifling bunch of asshats to be sure - not to go home before passing the tax cut renewal.

"Congress should not and cannot go on vacation before they have made sure that working families aren't seeing their taxes go up by $1,000 and those who are out there looking for work don't see their unemployment insurance expire," Obama said.

What part of three separate and co-equal branches of government does this boob not understand? He doesn't give them orders! They are equal to him with separate responsibilities and powers. And as badly as they perform their duties, they aren't any worse than him!

GRAND PRIX OF FIGURE SKATING FINAL

First, sincere condolences to Mao Asada of Japan. She worked really hard to qualify for this competition, only to have to return to Japan on Thursday to rush to the bedside of her dying mother. Unfortunately, she was too late and her 48-year-old mother was deceased before she could get there. Those of us who have lost our mothers - at any age - all feel for this tiny little person of enormous talent!

Ice Dancing: Notice how I'm restraining myself, kids! YES! Davis and White put on a magnificent pair of programs, both the short dance and the free dance and won the gold medal over their training partners AND rivals, Scott Moir and Tessa Virtue. The technical content of the Davis/White duo was absolutely stunning! Not that Virtue and Moir are stumble bums by any means! It was a good night for ice dancing. Now it's on to the various national competitions in January and then on to the World's in Nice, France (nice venue if you can get it) in February or March.

Men's:
Canada's world champion withstood a fall on a triple Lutz and other missteps in his free skate to defend the Grand Prix Final title he won last season. "My training really helped me today," he said. "I had difficulty at the start of the program, and that is where training kicks in. You have to stay concentrated on your plan."
Daisuke Takahashi had his finest free skate in recent memory to climb to second after placing fifth in the short. The Japanese skater just edged out Spain's (!) Javier Fernandez, who hit two different quads in his free skate and won bronze and was, in a word, spectacular! And quite adorable.

Pairs:
Savchenko and Szolkowy and Volsozhar and Trankov gave the judges very little to choose between, since they both hit every jump, twist lift and throw in their programs, while performing with remarkable intensity and style. In the end, the German pair (and two-time World Champions) won, while the Russians took the silver and the Chinese settled for the bronze. The winning margin between gold and silver was 3/10s of a point! I doubt I was the only one who gasped at that!

Ladies:
Carolina Kostner deservedly won the gold medal with an equally worthy Akiko Suzuki coming in second. Alissa Czizny of the U.S. was skating on an ankle that had been injured in the pre-competition practices. It was the "landing" leg ankle and the pain she was experiencing was evident in both her skating and her lovely face. Two Russian ladies were also in the final - both of them skated sloppily as the Russians frequently do. They think drama outweighs technical excellence over there. It doesn't.

HE MAY BE AN S.O.B., BUT . . .

He's OUR s.o.b.! That used to be the Republican Party mantra and it has mostly always been the position of the Dumbocrats!

I would strongly suggest that Republicans remember the ultimate goal - unseating the Usurper in November 2012. Quit savaging each other with highly inflammatory advertising and speech and concentrate on attacking Obama!

Clearly, Mitt Romney has finally figured out that a lot of Republicans do not like him. His self-adulation apparently is so ingrained that it has taken him 6 years of running for president to figure that out! Not too swift, are we Mittens?

Incendiary ads recently released dissing Newt's flaws and past errors in judgment in his personal life doesn't do YOU or the Party any favor, Mitt. It just makes me dislike you more and I'm pretty average in my reactions, so it's probably true that I'm not the only one!

Newt Gingrich has a ton of baggage and pummeling him with his past sins is a fruitless endeavor. We all know Newt's flaws, chief among them an unchecked libido (in the past, one would hope - we don't need another Clinton in the White House), and an inability to actually govern (we can only hope that the very strong woman to whom he is now married will keep him focused a little more thoroughly but given the reported disarray in his campaign staff, some of the issues still remain). Nevertheless, he is still preferable to that Robotic Nerd, Romney. Fair disclosure. Newt has been a friend of one of my family members for a long time and if he can tolerate this particular person as well as he does, he'll be able to keep his cool in the White House.

IS THIS STILL AMERICA?

When I was growing up, back in "the olden days" there were certain things that were sacrosanct. For example, people were deemed innocent until proven guilty. Then the Sam Shepherd case came along and all that went out the window (I grew up in Cleveland so that was my first experience of a trial that was highly political and publicized).

Today, I was watching The Talk on CBS. I don't watch it often because although I like Sharon Osbourne, I dislike Julie Chen (she strikes me as phony and very cold). Last season I enjoyed the interplay between the women on the show but do not enjoy it so much with Leah and Holly gone. Sheryl Underwood is okay; she has grown on me. Aisha Tyler is also just okay but neither of these two woman make the contribution of Leah and Holly.

Now to today's show. The first topic of conversation was Jerry Sandusky. Now granted, the charges against him appear to be pretty horrific. But he hasn't been convicted of anything in a court of law so why is it acceptable for these five women - none of them attorneys and none of them residents of Pennsylvania or familiar with the laws of Pennsylvania - to talk about the man as though he is guilty as charged. He isn't. This country still runs on "innocent until proven guilty" and that hasn't changed unless The Anointed One has done something of which I am unaware!

I lived in Los Angeles (if you can call it living) during the time of the McMartin hysteria. Those people were even convicted and subsequently, the charges were proven to be bogus and their names were cleared. Sam Shepherd was convicted and his conviction was reversed because of prejudicial pre-trial publicity. I was a reporter covering his second trial and well remember the restrictions and pressures exerted on all of us vis-a-vis our coverage. He was acquitted during the second trial although privately I have always believed in my heart that he knew plenty more than he was saying about the murder of his wife. I also witnessed an incident in a restaurant during the trial which convinced me that the man had a strong tendency to use violence toward women.

Getting back to "The Talk" - they further went on to discuss Michelle Bachmann's interplay with a small boy who was clearly being coached by his mother. She was right to dismiss the child because he was being used but the ladies didn't see it that way. Their reasoning was because Michelle Bachmann is anti-gay-marriage, she has no right to ignore a child obviously being used to entrap her.

This is STILL America folks. ALL OPINIONS are worthy of respect - even ones with which you do not agree and ALL accused of crime are innocent until proven guilty. When anything else becomes acceptable, it will be a sad and tragic day for America.

IS IT POSSIBLE?

Obama has scheduled himself another 17-day vacation in Asia - sorry, Hawaii! Am I being cynical when I say that we're better off with him tucked away somewhere away from D.C.

HOW MUCH LONGER ARE WE GOING TO PUT UP WITH THE DEMS' NONSENSE?

Herman Cain has apparently abandoned his run for the White House and once again, by innuendo and deceitful accusations, the Democrats have destroyed a black man who "strayed off the reservation" and ran as a conservative Republican. The first time they did this was when they buried Clarence Thomas in a hail of accusations from the lip gloss queen, the clearly needy and unstable Anita Hill.

Now they're flinging baseless and easily refuted charges against Herman Cain in a clear testament to their disregard for this country's future welfare AND equality amongst the races.

Herman Cain's biggest sin was in posing a threat to The Anointed One. He is and will continue to be everything that the Kenyan Wetback is not. He is intelligent, experienced, possessed of common sense and beyond all, able to articulate his ideas with clarity and without the aid of a teleprompter. In other words, he is his own man. We cannot say the same for the so-called president!

The Dems are supposed to be the party of inclusion and equality - or so they say. In reality they are a bunch of sanctimonious hypocrites who despise black people and want to keep them in thrall to their assinine social programs which foster dependancy in a modern day version of slavery! The Dems both despise and fear men like Herman Cain and their special gift is denigrating and attempting to humiliate conservative women like Michelle Bachmann or any other group they believe "belongs" to them when they happen to think clearly and for themselves. I don't happen to think Michelle is in any way qualified for the presidency, but what they have done to her, and to Sarah Palin (much more qualified) before her is shameful and despicable in every regard. The party of Asses (their symbol and well chosen) needs to be held to account by the American people and shown in no uncertain terms that their tactics and behavior are unacceptable and, what is more, un-American in the extreme!

The charges against Mr. Cain are patently false, but even if they were in any way accurate - his so-called sins are so puny in comparison to the beloved Clinton, the rapist who occupied the White House for 8 years and to great acclaim, despite his proclivity for having an intern his daughter's age suck his member in the Oval Office! Now THAT is bad behavior and yet, in Clinton's case, we repeatedly heard the inaccurate mantra that it was "Just about sex!" when in reality, he was impeached and lost his law license for 5 years because he LIED TO A GRAND JURY!

But attempting to change the narrative is a favorite trick of the Dems, in slavish imitation of the Stalin era in Russia and Hitler's reign of terror in Germany.

Dear merciful Lord, how long are we going to remain in thrall to the stupid among us who continue to vote for these idiots?

The landscape needs pruning folks; a lot of Democrats need to go and it's our job, nationwide, to accomplish that!

ANOTHER SIGNAL THAT OUR NATION'S MORAL FIBER IS SHOT TO HELL

Kourtney Kardashian is pregnant for the second time by that preening, alcoholic sycophant Scott Dissick and still unmarried. Even her grasping, money-grubbing mother is appalled by the lack of a wedding band on her daughter's hand!

When did it become chic to have children out of wedlock? In my view, it's appalling and truly despicable and stupid behavior and grossly unfair to the children! Children need TWO parents in a committed and stable relationship to give them loving guidance and disciplined support.

But what can you expect from that family. The only two worth a spit are Khloe and Robert!

ALCOHOL, DRUGS AND SELF-INDULGENCE

I have recently had a month-long visitor, someone I dearly love. One of the prior conditions of his coming to stay with me was that there was to be no drinking - I grew up in a household with an alcoholic parent and have no desire to repeat that experience. Needless to say, that rule was thoroughly ignored. My guest arrived roaring, falling-down drunk and pretty much stayed that way during his entire visit. He has now departed south for the winter and hopefully, he'll be less stewed while there.

The thing I don't get, despite years in Al-Anon (which taught me a lot about the families of alcoholics and very little about the psychology of the alcoholic him or herself), is how someone who readily admits to being an alcoholic can continue to indulge themselves in such self-destructive behavior all the while claiming that their addiction is a special case and that they can stop drinking at any time - but they never do!

This is a brilliant human being, absolutely blindingly so (again, my IQ is slightly higher but I am far less well-read and erudite) with a great deal of charm and good looks and potential. He dissipates it all, and his physical well-being, by quaffing all manner of alcoholic beverages to the point of stupidity!

My heart is sad for his pain, which he exacerbates greatly with his addiction - he cannot and will not contribute all that he can. It's tragic and heartbreaking and I'm glad he is out from under my roof because the stress on me was enormous.

And perhaps that is the worst thing about alcoholism and addiction in general - okay, if you want to drown yourself in an ocean of booze, go ahead and do it. But don't take innocent bystanders down with you as most addicts generally do!

Well, I wasn't about to drown and I wasn't about to be an enabler. He's gone elsewhere now and while I love him and miss him enormously, I'm in a state of absolute relief for myself and the peace and serenity of my home.
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO AMERICAN VALUES?

It used to be that "innocent until proven guilty" was our way of life. Now people are eviscerated and destroyed in the media, even people who might, just might, be the salvation of our nation's economy and security. In other words, men like Herman Cain.

Bill Clinton got away with serial affairs and blatant falsehoods, even to the point of impeachment proceedings and yet, today he is considered an elder statesman of some sort by many (not me)! We had a rapist for a president and many seem to be okay with that! The mind boggles, seriously!

The pinhead who is now occupying the White House is a grossly unprepared and incompetent buffoon and the only reason I don't say what I truly think of him is because he occupies the office of the President, whether legitimately or not I cannot ascertain although I have my opinions. I do respect the office and thus, do not wish the man any harm. I just wish him gone - by legitimate means only! In other words, I want the voters to reject him for a second, undeserved and wholly dangerous four years!

Herman Cain may or may not have conducted a consensual affair with some woman whose morals I have to question because she knew full well he was married. I also think her claims are a load of bull, but that's my opinion based on the facial and body language of the accuser. Why didn't we hear from her when Mr. Cain first started running for the office. In fact, why on earth are all these charges only surfacing when he becomes a threat to The Anointed One? Just asking.

Maybe Newt is the best candidate after all. All his scandal is already right out there in the open and I have to say that watching Teleprompter Guy try to debate Newt would be a treat for all. Newt would mop the floor with him without even breaking an intellectual sweat. He is brilliant. I also am unsure of Newt's ability to govern and manage the office. Maybe Calista will give him some assistance with that aspect of the presidency.

In fact, anyone but Obama - if only because we'd then be spared the spectacle of the endless campaigning and vacations and golf games and whatnot!

I'd like to see someone in the office who knows that there are only 50 states (not 57) and who knows that Hawaii is NOT in Asia as the incumbent apparently believes!

And as to Herman Cain - if these various charges are all false, then he should sue the shit out of the people making the claims and get his pound of flesh that way while also serving notice that there is a downside to making false accusations!

GRAND PRIX SERIES - CUP OF CHINA

It was an interesting competition. The Russian ice dancers (they are so over the top I didn't bother to learn their names) came in first, but are totally unfit to compete on the same ice as Davis/White and Virtue/Moir. They barely defeated our own Shibutani siblings who were excellent.

The men have decided (or felt compelled) to put multiple quads into their programs. This led to a somewhat sloppy competition with a lot of butts hitting the ice and the winner, Jeremy Abbott of the U.S. ending up winning because other than his stumble on the quad at the beginning of his program, his skate was lyrical and lovely.

The Russians are making a big push to stick their toes back under the table in the pairs competition. The Chinese are finding that to be a non-starter. Good for them.

There weren't a lot of dark roots but plenty of dirty skate laces to be seen. Could my bitching be having an effect? Naw....!

SPEAKING OF THE KIM/KRIS DIVORCE!

The idea of dating someone for 6 months and then becoming engaged and married in a lavish, over-the-top wedding ceremony (3 dresses - really?) is an insult to the concept and intention of marriage. Her unwillingness to compromise her princess dreams is just a vague idea of what was wrong with the whole thing. Okay, it seems to have worked for Khloe (who has more common sense than her older sister apparently since she knows that marriage requires compromise and hard work) but just because it works for one sister, doesn't mean that her pampered, self-involved, utterly brainless older sister can do it. Kim Kardashian cannot utter a sentence without using the work "like" 20 times! She is a dumbass!

Kris Humphries himself said it best when he opined during one of the pre-wedding episodes, "Four years ago you were selling dresses in a shop in the Valley and now you're some kind of princess?" She sneered at his hometown in Minnesota, unwilling to even consider living like a normal human being for part of the year. And then she prattled on about her "career" (what career unless you mean posing for pictures endlessly and sticking out your big ass and flashing your big tits at the world). And then, apparently because Kris desired some kind of normal married life, she flounces off to a divorce attorney and files after 72 days of marriage! That's what I call true commitment and work ethic! Skank that she is. he's well rid of her!
DANCING WITH THE STARS - NIGHT 7

First, let me preface by saying that I dislike the competitive group dance concept with a great deal of passion.

Second, I thought all of the individual dances were fairly lackluster, including the dance of J.R. Martinez. What moron gave him (they don't choose their own music) the theme from Ghost Busters as a tango backdrop? Were they trying to sabotage him? Maybe they were trying to give Ricki Lake an edge? Regardless, we can prevent those kinds of subtle manipulations from working!

I was also impressed with Rob Kardashian's focus, given his sister's ridiculous marriage drama! He is really developing as a dancer and I applaud him for that.

I notice that the odious Hope Solo and her rude and cranky professional partner Maks are still there. May one inquire as to why? She cannot dance, she has a nasty, "entitled" disposition and she cannot have that big a fan base. Then again, people voted for Obama!

It was a shame to see David Arquette voted off.

During the results show, the dancing of the luminous young Christina Ferri was absolutely inspirational. Talk about courage and heart, not to mention some serious talent. It reminded me of when Scott Hamilton returned to the ice after his bout with testicualar cancer. When he finished his first skate with a back flip, his words were magnificently appropriate: "I won!" Ms. Ferri can say the same! And so can we, from seeing her dance so beautifully.

DANCING WITH THE STARS - NIGHT 6

First, let me reiterate - I dislike Hope Solo and think she should be voted off. She is arrogant and has an "entitled" mentality that is most unattractive.

Chaz Bono still is the hardest working dancer on the show. Unfortunately, he still seems to lumber around more than dance. But his luminous smile and complete humility are still winners!

Nancy Grace continues to amaze, Ricki Lake is very very good, I will vote again for Rob Kardashian, while J.R. Martinez remains my absolute favorite!

We'll see tonight what happens!
SKATE AMERICA RECAP

To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Davis and White, the first ever American ice dancing World Champions, won this event. However, it is the way they won it that is totally remarkable. Their two programs were impeccable and their skating was phenomenal. One of the ways in which you can determine the quality of an ice dancer's skate is the sound. Actually, it's the lack of sound that is remarkable. You see, ice dancing is a game of edges and when you are truly on your edges there is no sound - which tells the judges that you are doing it right. Davis and White are largely silent on the ice and the one point in the program where there was any sound - it was almost impossible not to make a sound because Charlie was changing edges! So congratulations on your 22 point victory!

The female champion, Alissa Czizny (of Bowling Green, Ohio) was composed, confident and excellent in both her technical and presentation values. The little girl who always looked like she wasn't sure she'd manage two programs is gone and in her place is a strong, skilled and gracefully wonderful skater who truly represents her 2011 U.S. Championship status well!

Michal Brezina of the Czech Republic won the men's title - although I think the others lost the title more accurately. His skating doesn't really do a thing for me but it's nice to see another country in the mix!

Savchenko & Szolkowy of Germany won the pairs title. Would someone please do something about her hair and get her a touch up before competitions? Her stringy, thin, fly-away hair contributes nothing, although their skating is fairly good.

Finally, my annual rant - dirty skates, dirty dirty laces, dark roots and some costumes that looked more Halloweenish than anything else! What can you say? The best outfits were sported by the Americans - Charlie White was born to wear a tux!

GADDAFI IS DEAD

An0ther repressive and brutal dictator has been 86'd by his own people, which is as it should be. For truly to remove that kind of evil from this world, the people most affected by his iron-fisted and murderous reign should be the ones to put him in the ground!

People like Saddam and Gaddafi were contemptible aberations of what leadership should be and they will not be missed, except for the equally foul creatures who supported them in power, most of whom have also gone on to their justified rewards.

Now they are in the hands of the fairest judge of all - God!

DANCING WITH THE STARS - NIGHT 5

Once again, J.R. Martinez was so good I was in tears and cheering - scared the bejabbers out of Buddy and Rusty! Granted, I speak from the standpoint of someone who fell in love with the man several years ago when he started on All My Children, but is there any more attractive man on Planet Earth? What a brilliant effort tonight, once again! To the surprise of nobody, he gets my vote.

Clearly, Len isn't eating his All-Bran yet because I thought that Bruno's assessment of Carson's dance was dead on - loopy fun! I suspect that sometimes the judges expect professional quality dancing from a bunch of amateurs when they shouldn't. Anyway, he was terrific and I laughed and enjoyed the entire routine entirely!

David Arquette's mimicking of Len's tirades during rehearsal nearly caused me to choke on my hot cocoa! And his dance was excellent! Love the leather!

Ricki kind of lost the plot a little but her dance was still good and should keep her on board. Chaz Bono finally learned to forget his negative body image which has been hindering him all along and he turned in a creditable performance. Been there, did that until one memorable night (in the '80s oddly enough) when I'd had a couple of Long Island Iced Teas and hit the disco floor with a good gay friend of mine and we tore it up! All my early dance training came back and my love of movement overrode everything! After that, I danced every chance I got and lost 25 pounds in the process. Hmmmm! Maybe this old fart should consider doing that again!

Frankly, Rob Kardashian is the best of the entire Karadashian tribe, and it's a miracle he isn't a totally screwed up mess, given that he lives in a dictatorship ruled by females! I suspect Bruce Jenner deserves credit for that. But the hard work and dancing ability growth is truly praiseworthy!

Hope Solo is an arrogant bitch and I don't like her and I'd like to see her go. And that's saying a lot considering that Nancy Grace is a lawyer and I sure don't have a lot of liking for lawyers!

Does anyone agree with me that Bruno is sexy as hell? I know he's gay but damn - he's funny and can move and wow!

UPDATE: Carson Kressley is gone now, along with a lot of the sheer delightful fun! Instead that lugubrious and arrogant diva Hope Solo is still on the show. Her turn is coming! Such a pouty twit!

DANCING WITH THE STARS - NIGHT 4

J. R. Martinez was splendid, as was Ricki Lake. Carson Kressley was entertaining and Roib Kardashian is displaying a sense of dance unmatched by ANY of his siblings. For some reason, and I don't know why, I find Hope Solo eminently unlikeable as well as arrogant, while Nancy Grace is doing her best but she just doesn't have the "chops" to do it well.

Chaz Bono needs to be gone as it is so painful to watch him lumber across the dance floor with a look of pain on his face. He tries so hard and works so hard and yet that enormous physique of his is a major hindrance. I do find his friendship with J.R. to be inexplicable but somehow warming. Maybe it's time for Hope to run out?

Anyway, we'll see what happens tonight. I'm predicting it will be J.R. and Ricki going down to the wire with Rob in the top 3.

That's my prediction and I'll stick with it! Meanwhile, would someone get Judge Len Goodman some fiber cereal and/or a hot fudge sundae? He needs to be given some "pleasant" lessons!

UPDATE: Well, Chynna Phillips was eliminated tonight. Granted, she got lost in the "fog" machine last night but her dancing has been exquisite up until now and I don't honestly think the quality of Chaz Bono's dancing measures up in any way to Chynna's - nevertheless, she is gone!
QUOTE OF THE DECADE

H/T Cousin Scott!

QUOTE OF THE DECADE - from the CZECH REPUBLIC

Some people have the vocabulary to sum up things in a way you can understand them. This quote came from the Czech Republic :

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting an inexperienced man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama Presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their President. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools who made him their President."

CAN WE TALK ABOUT FULL-ON JERKS?

Currently the Socialist radicals who are occupying Freedom Plaza (on a 4-month permit given them after they refused outright to honor the one that expired at 2 p.m. on Monday) are making any number of demands that the government bow to their agenda and claiming (quite falsely) that they are speaking for 99% of Americans - which they are not. And I'm willing to bet that their enthusiasm for their cause will quickly wane once the rains predicted for this week begin, let alone the snow and slush that will arrive with the November weather!

Nancy Pelosi and President Obama seem to be quite amenable to this disruption of the Nation's Capitol, despite the fact that the people who actually work in the District are likely being thoroughly inconvenienced by these idiots' antics! Of course, our dear President thinks nothing of swanning around town in his motorcade, screwing up traffic during rush hour so that us ignorant peasants have a longer-than-normal commute leaving town to return to our homes!

Apparently when people break the law and create major disruptions to the business of the nation, they are to be patted on the head and allowed to continue their disruptive behavior. When responsible American citizens who hold opposite views from these left-wing crybabies assemble peacefully, obey the law, leave the Mall cleaner than they found it and generally create no disruptions, they are labeled terrorists by the self-same people supporting tacitly the anti-Wall Street people, most of whom have little to no understanding of how the economic system functions and no clue whatsoever as to what their beloved Obama has done to muck up the works!

Dear Lord, I'm telling you, I've lived too long!

STEVE JOBS - R.I.P.

You wouldn't be reading my blathering if it were not for two youngsters named Jobs and Wozniak (the one who clearly has been overlooked by most of the obit writers) in the tale of the Jobs ascendancy at Apple.

I lived in California at the time that these two visionary young men were just rolling out their new product. I even had a little cash on hand and an opportunity to invest in their fledgling enterprise. Would that I had. I'd be sitting on an island somewhere with my beloved pussycats roaming freely through the flora and fauna.

The man (and the Woz) both deserve full credit for opening up a new world in the later 20th century and both, along with their fellow visionary Bill Gates, changed the way our world communicates.

Jobs was young to die and we'll miss his vision and creativity.

DANCING WITH THE STARS - NIGHT 3

Rob Kardashian, Carson Kressley and my beloved J.R. Martinez are the front runners as far as I'm concerned. Nancy Grace and Ricki Lake look good as well! Rob and J.R. both had my in floods of tears - so emotional and heartfelt were their dances. Kudos to Nancy Grace for displaying the heart beneath the tough exterior! Chynna Phillips likewise displayed grace and enormous emotion. As to the rest, well, I can live without them in coming weeks. Chaz Bono tries really hard but he just doesn't have the requisite talent and I worry constantly about him injuring himself!

Is it my imagination or are there more decent dancers out there this season than in previous seasons?

Tonight's elimination should be interesting!

UPDATE: Kristen Cavalieri and Mark Ballas are gone! Frankly, it should have been Chaz Bono but he does have his constituency! And he is one tough and dedicated competitor. Just no dancer!

ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST!

The killing of U.S.-born Anwar al-Awlaki means that one very, very bad bad man had a very bad bad day! Meanwhile, a debate seems to be shaping up as to whether or not killing him via drone is somehow "cricket" in terms of warfare! My response, hell to the yes! Dead is dead and this creature needed eradication! The fact that he was born here only makes his acts and intentions more heinous and frankly, citizenship doesn't matter a tinker's damn when you're openly and vocally plotting against the U.S. and its citizens!

I don't want to sound like some sort of hardass, but these are the same people who planned and financed and directed the killing of some 3,000 innocent humans on 9/11 and they need to be erased from the face of this planet if we ever have a hope in hell of moving into a better place in terms of international terrorism. If they think they can kill, maim and traumatize this country or other innocents with no consequences, then they will continue to do so!

Screw it! Wipe them all off the face of this blighted planet and let God sort out the details!

DANCING WITH THE STARS - WEEK 2

To my utter astonishment, Rob Kardashian was a refreshing performer on Monday night's show. And of course, J. R. Martinez and Carson Kressley continue to entertain.

I'm almost hoping that Chaz Bono gets voted off tonight. His effort is so sincere and the pain and injury it is causing for him is so evident, that for his own sake, he shouldn't continue on the show. On the other hand, he does want it so badly and he is losing weight. There is nothing about him that would lead anyone to believe he is anything other than a sincere, sweet person.

Nancy Grace was pleasing, as was Chynna Phillips. That Canalis woman needs to go. There is a sweet, wounded quality to her face, but really, a dancer she is not! David Arquette should stay for the sheer entertainment value. Likewise Ricki Lake who is a determined woman!

DANCING WITH THE STAR - FIRST NIGHT

J. R. Martinez is now my official pick to win the competition because (a) he is a wonderful dancer already in the first week and (b) he is clearly a beautiful human being. That smile of his is the most incredible testament to the man's quality as a human being and in all other ways.

Following closely in my view is the effervescent Carson Daly who brings a sense of outright fun to the proceedings, David Arquette who is surprisingly good and to my astonishment - Rob Kardashian who - if he can just forget his nightmare of a family is sitting there watching and judging him - will do very, very well. One thing the Kardashian kids are good at is hard work. I wouldn't count out Rikki Lake either. Surprisingly good work from that quarter.

UPDATE: Well, Ron Artest is gone - which surprised me. Elisabetta Canalis survived until next week, as did Chaz Bono who kind of surprised me!
PRIMETIME EMMY FASHION

Okay, Rule #1 - if you are flat chested, don't wear a neckline that plunges down to your waist! It looks stupid and only emphasizes how you were cheated by the boob fairy! Nobody wants to see your bony poitrine!

If you are attending the Emmys, get your damned roots done!

People are criticizing Katie Holmes for her beautiful blue gown saying it was "too casual". That is an asinine critique. What I would call her look is "classic". And simplicity is the highest form of elegance. Unlike others in attendance, she wasn't tricked out like some kind of circus pony.

Gwyneth Paltrow - you are too old to be baring your midriff! And take a curling iron to that limp, style-free hair of yours! Make an effort at least! Kudos, however, for having your roots in good shape!

To all teenagers: Take a lesson from Kelly Osbourne who has been very clear that she regrets the tattoos on her forearms. Consider your future life and what a potential employer will think of you. Don't get your tattoos in places that are impossible to conceal. Tattoos make a person look cheap and dirty. And removing tattoos is a difficult, lengthy and painful process. For the most part, people looked good although what in the hell was Heidi Klum thinking and did Seal take a shower before hitting the red carpet?

63rd ANNUAL PRIMETIME EMMYS

As of this writing, the show has been lugubriously lumbering along for nearly 1-1/2 hours. Jane Lynch is a disaster as a host and the writing of the show, such as it is, is relying on lame and tired political cliches (Bristol Palin jokes), and thinly disguised social agenda items. The production numbers are overproduced and incoherent and all in all it is an appallingly bad show, particularly in view of the fact that it is on the medium it is supposed to be celebrating.

What is so hard about these awards shows? They used to be entertaining. Show some clips of the nominated actors/shows, present the awards, have a couple of singing numbers that related to the nominated programs. Now it's all sly innuendo, utterly unfunny humor and the flopsweat of the Hollywood liberal establishment desperately attempting to remain relevant! The only win that I applaud is that of Melissa McCarthy for her leading role on Mike and Molly - a show that has the temerity to focus on two seriously overweight people who are actually sexual! And here the "industry" has been trying to convince us that only if you are a size 0 are you able to find love!

At long last, the television academy is putting on full display the paucity of its intelligence, humor and insights! And for that, we should all be grateful.

JOBS PEOPLE CAN DO RIGHT NOW!

I was speaking to my insurance agent this morning and he was sitting in his home office in shorts and flipflops - because there's about an inch of water in there! His insurance carrier has approved the required repairs - but he cannot find anyone to actually perform the work. And it occurred to me that he cannot be the only person in this country who has been hit with a natural disaster side effect like my insurance agent and, thanks to the shortage of people willing to perform actual physical labor, there are paying jobs out there being undone!

So good old American ingenuity needs to kick in here and those who are able bodied and seeking to earn their October rent and any other needs, make your availability known. Put up flyers at the local supermarket. Make your availability known online.

There are people with a strong need and the ability to pay you to fulfill their needs. Pitch in, do a good and responsible job and earn some money for yourself! Clearly I am not inviting the hustlers and the con artists to weigh in but if we fill the ranks of the available helpers with good folks like ourselves, there won't be room for the jerks!

LUCIANNE.COM SAYS IT BEST

Sometimes the simplest gesture is the best! Christie continues to be one of my absolute favorites! No nonsense, blunt spoken, absolutely certain of what he believes and totally courageous in acting upon those beliefs!

A good man, maybe even a great one!

WE WILL NEVER FORGET

Ten years ago today, I was home from work with an "iffy" tummy and had gone into the living room to sip a cup of herbal tea, something I only drink when I'm feeling punk. I turned on the television and watched with my mouth hanging open what was happening in New York City. I watched in horror throughout the day, cried a lot and worried a lot about my sister who was, at the time of the attack on the Pentagon, en route into D.C. for work and, as it happened, at the Crystal City train stop just as the planes hit! It was several hours before I could ascertain that she was okay.

As the day went by, I watched in amazement as the formerly uber-partisan Congress acted like patriots and supported our President wholeheartedly, if only for a short while. I thanked God multiple times that Albert Gore, Jr. had lost the Florida recount and thanked God for the blessing of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney heading the Executive Branch.

I listened in amazement at some of the truly stupid comments made - such as Rosie O'Donnell's assertion that it was the "first time in history" that fire had melted metal - an utterance that would have astonished my late grandfather who worked in the Carnegie Steelworks in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! The boundless reach of celebrity stupidity still amazes me, and you have to remember, I was a lot younger then - only 59 years old!

I continue to consider this the greatest nation on earth and I still mourn the loss of those3,000 souls on the planes and in the buildings and in the field in Shanksville. I still have a vivid memory of the oft-maligned, but still magnificent, Donald Rumsfeld rolling up his sleeves and helping to evacuate the injured from the Pentagon. We frequently failed to appreciate this exceptional man.

As the ceremony in New York looms, I continue to be completely flummoxed by Mayor Bloomberg's decision, facilitated in large part by the mainstream media's silence on the matter, to exclude First Responders and Clergy from the program! You stupid, stupid man, one who will be remembered as an overly interfering proponent of the nanny state and the ham-handed moronic planning you espoused and permitted! Dumbshit! Bloomberg, you may be rich and you may be the Mayor of New York but you aren't Rudy Giuliani and you never will be!

There were some egregious villains involved in the 9/11 attacks but many marvelous and praiseworthy heroes who were little noted and who shunned that notice pretty thoroughly. Their humility and heroism is duly noted by the Ultimate Judge whose presence is apparently not required at the remembrance in New York. And Who, Mayor Bloomberg, is responsible for the fact that the death toll wasn't higher? Who, dummy, who?

Shit, I've lived too long and grieved too much. But my young friend Jillian put it best at the age of 2 when on 9/11/01 she opined that someone should do something to those people "who broke our stuff"! A patriot in the making, that one. At 12 she is incredible and I love her. So happy birthday doll girl. I love you very much.

DOUBLING DOWN ON INCOMPETENCE

In Thursday night's speech to the U.S. Congress, President Obama did not disappoint in at least one respect, he is still, and everlastingly, in campaign mode. The man has no idea how to govern, thus he goes to his fallback position, campaigning for undeserved reelection.

His speech was disingenuous in the extreme, condescending and warmly received by his fellow Democrats while John Boehner sat unsmiling behind him as the President attempted unsuccessfully to throw the entire Republican Party under the bus. There was one small deviation from same-old, same-old. As one wag put it, "at least he didn't blame President Bush for all our problems". This was, indeed, refreshing. And in point of fact, there were a few kernels of possible actions by the Congress that both precisely duplicate suggestions that have been pushed by Republicans in prior years and are a possible basis for compromise. Although, the dud who occupies the Oval Office made it quite clear that his vassals in the U.S. Congress are to give him his jobs bill just as he has proposed it - right, like THAT is going to happen!

He stuck to his everlasting refrain - class warfare - although he attempted to present it in such a way that we wouldn't "catch on" to his duplicity. Barry Soetero, buy a vowel. We've heard it all before on numerous occasions and we stopped buying your flimflam a long, long time ago.

Most particularly, The Won was demanding and arrogant - ordering the Congress to "Pass it now!" as though the representatives of We the People were only there to do his bidding. This is especially galling since he has claimed in the past to be a Constitutional Law professor (he wasn't) thus one would think that at least he would know that the Executive Branch is only one of three co-equal branches of the U.S. government. Those Congressmen and Senators who were in attendance are not his vassals, any more than are We the People.

All in all, it was tedious in the extreme to watch thinly disguised attempts to raise taxes and maintain out-of-control spending being espoused by a president who doesn't know what in the hell he is doing, is incapable of and unwilling to learn how to govern, and while claiming extreme patriotism, is doing everything in his power to destroy our Constitution, our liberties and our way of life for his own and his master's (Soros) twisted ends!

DANCING WITH THE STARS - NEW CAST

I will be supporting two of the members of the cast with enormous enthusiasm when the new show begins.

I have enormous respect and admiration for J.R. Martinez who is an Iraq veteran and who sustained horrendous wounds in service to our country. Despite his scarred face, All My Children cast him in the role of Brot, a similarly wounded war veteran and he is currently an integral part of the show and involved in a very steamy on-screen romance with an absolutely gorgeous actress. After watching his moving and sensitive performances over the couple of years he's been on the show, I have to remind myself that he has facial scarring, he is just that good an actor. So if the lad can move at all - he's got my vote.

My other fave is Carson Kressley who is a genuinely nice young man and a talented athlete. His show Carson Nation showcases his compassion and kindness toward others in difficult circumstances, while having seen tapes of his equestrian exploits has generated genuine respect from me.

My outside candidate would be Nancy Grace who seems to be displaying some serious self-deprecating humor. She's no sylph and she is controversial to the point of occasionally being annoying, but I think she is one tough female who can hang in there with the best of them.

Chaz Bono? Puh-leeze. Get that lumbering self-promoter off as soon as possible!

DON'T SCREW WITH MOTHER NATURE!

First, there was the earthquake on Tuesday which, while West Coast residents may decry us East Coast denizens as a bunch of "bedwetters" was severe enough to even shake up an old hand like me! It lasted longer than the average earthquake and was of a different sort than any I experienced in 20 years living in California. Different composition of the land mass to begin with. We've got rocks; they've got liquid! And the damage turned out to be pretty severe in some places due to the fact that we don't expect earthquakes and we don't build for them! So the National Cathedral and the Washington monument both sustained significant damage.

And now, on the anniversary of what would be my mother Irene's 95th birthday, here comes her hurricane. I'm just weird enough to believe that a hurricane named after my beloved later mother will not hurt me or mine but I'm still prepared. Letting the cats have one last (for today) romp on the deck and then we're buttoning down. Hard-wired land line connected, cell phone recharged, battery powered lamp charging - life is good! And thanks to my persistent sister, I have enough t.p., water and milk to ride out anything!

Hope y'all are safe and secure. Take good care.

WATCHING AN ENTIRE TV NETWORK IN
FULL PANIC MODE!

ABC Television, both daytime and nighttime, is operating in visibly full panic mode. Why, you may ask? Because of losing Oprah Winfrey after 25 years of having a human cash register on your schedule.

First, they cancel two beloved soap operas. And before that, they had already announced they are shutting down their SoapNet Network so how much do they care about us, the fans? Had they thrown the quantity of advertising at these two daytime staples that they are now throwing at their despicable The View and the new shows The Chew and Anderson Cooper's new show in Oprah's old spot, both All My Children and One Life to Live would not be in any danger of ever being canceled. Neither show appears to be worth watching, and in fact, so visceral is my dislike for Mario Batali that even the delicious Michael Symon cannot tempt me to watch The Chew. In fact, other than watching Castle in the evening, I fully intend to boycott ABC-TV entirely. Why? Shows like Charlie's Angels and Pan Am appear to be thoroughly forgettable programs and I won't even discuss how awful I suspect Playboy will be! NBC appears to have some decent programming coming up as does CBS. More and more, however, I find myself enjoying TNT and other smaller networks like ION. I also have HBO, Showtime and Starz so why do I need to watch a network that offends and disgusts me? Biased, blatantly slanted news coverage? The despicable left-wing broadcasting of The View? Hell, I might as well subscribe to the New York Times! Thanks, but no thanks!

It's high time we start making it known to these networks how little they are offering us in the form of decent programming and how offended we are by their shoddy, blatantly pandering to the left bias.

If the news division of ABC had shown half the diligence in investigating Candidate Obama, we wouldn't have that p.o.s. sitting in the White House right now! So what have they done to attract our patronage, secure our loyalty and/or interest? Absolutely freaking nothing!

MAXINE WATERS JUMPS THE SHARK!

The endlessly corrupt and unlikable Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Delusion) has spoken out about 3+ million of her fellow citizens, thus:

“I’m not afraid of anybody,” the California congresswoman told constituents in footage that appeared on ABC affiliate KABC in Los Angeles, not backing down from comments made about President Obama earlier in the week. “This is a tough game. You can’t be intimidated. You can’t be frightened. And as far as I’m concerned — the tea party can go straight to hell.”

Now that you have defined your own future afterlife, Madam Waters, why don't you practice some of the civility your party is always talking about and seldom practicing? To be treated with civility, one must treat others in like manner - something you have consistently failed to do. And when the New York Times begins investigating your financial dealings and those of your husband, not to mention your pal in corruption Barney Frank, then we will see what we will see and find out who "can go straight to hell." If your skirts are clean, then you can run your foul and nasty mouth and not until, madam!

BEARS REPEATING - RIGHT NOW!

Just listen to this and enjoy but also bear it in mind. Do not think for one minute that we can afford to keep that pinhead in the White House in office for one second beyond 12 noon on January 20, 2013! He is by far the most inept and destructive, thoroughly incompetent slacker to ever occupy the Oval Office and for our own sakes, must be only a one-term President!

COMMENTS ON A LIFE ENJOYABLY LIVED

Especially in the past few months! No need to go schlepping up I-95 to D.C. to work. Mainly just sitting around the house, enjoying the always excellent company of Buddy and Rusty and generally trying to survive the uber hot summer and get through to more pleasant temperatures.

It all made me ponder how little of this kind of comfort our grandkids (well YOUR grandkids - I have no children so it doesn't actually apply to me) are going to experience. They are probably going to have to continue working until they're in their 90s. Then again, what with Madame Michelle "Do as I say, not as I do" Obama designing their school menus, they'll be enjoying it less! A lot less. According to the young people I've spoken to, school lunches have become uneatable in many schools. No salt is permitted, no pepper, no condiments of any kind. The food is unseasoned and tasteless! I know it's a foreign concept but food that is well seasoned is not necessarily unhealthy, particularly if you utilize a lot of fresh herbs and use a lot of lemon juice to remove the need for excessive salting. But then again, liberals are all in favor of ascetic behaviors as long as THEY don't have to participate in them! Hypocritical knuckleheads, the lot of them. A bunch of humorless, joyless harridans preaching their holier-than-thou version of living to people who actually find pleasure in the company of their children, feeling no need to ship them off to boarding schools, enjoy a healthy meal, well prepared and live in homes that reflect their history and interests. Why don't they just leave us alone? Because it looks to them like we're having too much fun, folks! And then of course there's the creeping influence of sharia law in this country, just as it continues to infect every other so-called civilized European nation. Now Norway is feeling the brunt of it. When will it stop? When we FORCE it to stop.

The cowardly liberal minority in this country is terrified that their sterile, self-centered little lives will be threatened or disturbed by actually having to do something to defend and/or protect our way of life. They will lie down for Islamic attempts at destroying our nation's Constitution and way of life until it's too late. We must do everything in our power to offset their slothful cowering!

DELIVER US FROM SNOOKIE!

Of all the things I can find to exemplify the problems in our nation, this drunken little troll is #1 on the list!

She dresses like a hooker, behaves like a juvenile terrorist and is far from attractive to look at! She has no class, no manners and has become famous due to bad behavior. And this is someone fawned over by the entertainment media! Do we no longer have standards of the kinds of behavior that will be tolerated? Remember when Ingrid Bergman was banned from Hollywood for having an out-of-wedlock child with her Italian director lover? Now out-of-wedlock children are littering the landscape and celebrities seem to think it's okay to birth a litter of children ala Angelina Jolie without repercussions! In fact. she is fawned over rather than being treated like a pariah! Steal another woman's husband? Sure, that's okay. After all, she's beautiful! No, no, that is not acceptable behavior! Furthermore, what is our tolerance of this behavior telling our children? The stability of a strong marital bond is something to be encouraged, not endlessly dissed on reality TV and elsewhere. There are some knuckleheads in Hollywood who still defend the infamous pervert Roman Polanski and still patronize Woody Allen films. Put your entertainment dollars to better use people!

Marriage isn't the panacea. It's damned hard work. I've never entered into the state myself because I know myself well enough to know that I would choose badly. My mother labored mightily to preserve her marriage to my father, despite his alcoholism, and I watched it kill her before her time. But then again, neither do I have CHILDREN. Bringing a child into the world isn't a cure for loneliness or depression or mental illness. It's a commitment to being strong and dependable and responsible above all. Your children don't need a buddy, they need two parents and a father is not an optional part of that mix, he's an essential component. The fact that you can have a baby on your own does not mean that you should!

Those we admire should deserve that attention, rather than being famous for being famous. There are enough slutty looking Snookie types out there. We shouldn't be celebrating them but rather marginalizing them for what they are - human garbage!

MUST READ OF THE WEEKEND

The ever insightful and brilliant GM Roper has an excellent post up that is a must read. It is entitled "Pictoral History of a Failed Presidency" and is a graphic and totally readable history of that worthless knucklehead infecting our presidency at the present time! Please do feel free to cut over to GM's site at any time for worthwhile reading!

COMMERCIALS THAT HAVE EARNED MY CONTEMPT!

So okay, that may have been slightly over-the-top but, in no specific order, here are a few of my all time disliked commercials (this week at least)!

  1. "That's for babies" - featuring a badly dressed, clearly overcoddled little female person rejecting any clothing suggested by her wimpy mother who doesn't just say, "This is what you're wearing darling and deal with it!". But the kid likes Cheerios. Which means that as long as that commercial is running, I'm not buying the damned things!
  2. "Nobody touches my Butterfingers snackers!" - an overprivileged, not terribly attractive, faux-Southern belle is sitting with a guest when she pours out a bag of the aforementioned treats into a bowl. The friend, believing that hospitality is on offer, reaches out to have a taste, thus triggering the candy bowl's defensive capabilities and getting her fingers zapped! This is a demonstration of total rudeness. If you're going to put out food when you have a guest in the house, then that guest should be invited to sample the candy!
  3. The pertussis commercial which, while highlighting a possibly serious threat to infant health, manages to do so in a fashion that is horrendously unpleasant and off-putting to those of us who aren't blessed (?) with infants in our homes. And it runs every 20 seconds it seems on some channels. Personally, I just change the channel.
  4. Captain Morgan Rum commercials - all of them are just annoying and offensive.
  5. The diaper commercial with the pee fountain shooting up out of the infant's diaper. In the first place, no baby can shoot that strong a stream and in the second, this stupid commercial is often seen at meal times.
  6. The heart wrenching ASPCA or other animal rescue commercials. On too frequently, too filled with pathos and hey you dorks - the damned polar bears aren't dying! Unless they're dying of embarrassment from those commercials! Global Climate Change (as they're calling it now) is a hoax people!
  7. Any commercial or advance peek at "The View" where the ugly face of Joy Behar is visible, just on general principles. I don't watch this show because I thoroughly dislike the obscenely biased presentations and the strident stupidity of Joy(less) Behar! Whoopie I can take, Barbara I can take. Joy Behar offends me for days! I'm biased and glad to proclaim it - against HER!
UPDATE: I truly despise the toilet paper commercial where the man is too freaking lazy to walk down the hall and get a fresh roll of toilet paper and thus, gets his hair shaved off by too rough, gets himself decorated with too soft and so forth. Get off your dead ass and go get a COUPLE of rolls you moron!

Then there's the dumb couple who are so astonished by the arrival of some lame ass magician with new packaging for popcorn. Does she really have to prattle on about how amazing it is - WITH HER MOUTH FULL? And our children watch these commercials and learn from them. Shocking.

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN OBAMA IS LYING?

Every damned time he opens his mouth!

His speech last night was a masterpiece of untruths, exaggerations, hyperbole and campaign rhetoric blaming President Bush for the current budget impasse. Really? At what point do you take responsibility for your manifest failures?

Barack Hussein Obama, easily the most incompetent president EVER (against some pretty tough competition that includes the inept and disastrous James Earl Carter, Jr.) managed to not only blame President Bush for his nearly three years of unprecedented failures, but also managed to show major disrespect to his "go-to" guy in the Senate, Senator Harry Reid, who is showing some intelligence by distancing himself from "Typhoid Barry" on The Hill.

The country can, with the grace of God, survive this ludicrous faux President. What it cannot survive is another four years of his lackluster, fumbling, weak-kneed and anti-American administration!

DELUSION AND DENIAL - OBAMA STYLE!

"The American people are sold [on higher taxes]," Obama said. "The problem is members of Congress are dug in ideologically." You're damned skippy you delusional twit!

Our increasingly out-of-touch president seems to think that 80% of Americans WANT higher taxes. No you jug-eared, incapable, cretinous yahoo, we don't. We want you to stop SPENDING our money unwisely.

Did the Tea Party movement teach you nothing? Are you so incredibly politically tone-deaf? Go play golf and quit running your ignorant mouth, sir! You aren't qualified to be president of this country, intellectually or in terms of character. We won't even discuss your constitutional situation! Nor should we discuss the fact that you need to be thoroughly vetted by a large and talented team of mental health professionals! Things aren't going your way so you are stamping your little foot, wagging your little finger and pretending that reality isn't true!

Dumbass!

THERE'S NO ACCOUNTING FOR THE VAGARIES OF HOLLYWEIRD!

Started thinking today about who we choose to accept as "celebrities" and "stars" and realized that there is no rhyme or reason for most of the people who have careers (Paris Hilton comes to mind) despite a noticeable lack of real talent!

Then there is the beautiful and talented Nadia Bjorlin. All you need to do is look at her and listen to the glorious voice and you wonder why she isn't one of the biggest stars ever! She easily sings opera and yet show tunes don't elude her abilities either. She is absolutely gorgeous. Those blue eyes are mesmerizing!

I swear, we are a very weird bunch of people in this nation!
KARMA'S A BITCH!

When the Casey Anthony verdict was announced, I was sickened by the poor prosecution efforts (although the obsessive media coverage sickened me even more) and the poor result therefrom. I doubt that there are many people in this country (and abroad) who truly believe Casey Anthony was not in some way responsible for her 2-year-old daughter's death! Whether through misadventure or intent, this woman has - in my opinion - blood on her hands.

Now that the sentencing is complete and it appears that she won't be waltzing out of prison to drink champagne with her utterly amoral defense team (I mean - yes, you must defend your client rigorously - but there are rules of decency that ought to be followed regardless!) she is apparently looking forward to making a bunch of money from the death of her child and her subsequent prosecution for that death. Talk about blood money.

All that being said, my feelings are, leave her to the mercy of the Great Judge and expect the heavenly finger to be given to any media outlet that puts money into this bitch's hands. Let karma deal with her and in the meantime, pray for the repose of the soul of Caylee Anthony who - given the quality of mothering she apparently received - is truly in a much better place, in the hands of her Creator who loves her, will not harm her and will protect her and cherish her.

Finally - another question - what's the deal with Casey Anthony's forehead? She looks like a mini-throwback to prehistoric man!? Get bangs, hide that disgusting evidence of just how primitive you are!

HOPE ALL Y'ALL HAD A GREAT 4th OF JULY

And that most of us remembered what the day was about - which didn't include hot dogs and hamburgers and frightening the neighborhood cats and dogs half to death with fireworks!

HBO to my astonishment actually showed a completely appropriate day of the mini-series about John Adams. I did not know that both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died on July 4th, on the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. They were good friends and then very much at odds with each other until in their very much later years they mended the rift and became friends again. Each assumed that the other was still alive to celebrate the anniversary.

A great deal of attention was paid to the deep bonds between John Adams and Abigail Adams. They were married 54 years when she died and he was still very much in love with her. Modern politicians should take note.

Finally, saw a Sean Hannity program last week that featured nearly an entire hour interview with Herman Cain. The man is impressive to be sure. And he may be someone the Dems cannot denigrate without shooting themselves in the foot. Of course, now that Joe Biden is on Twitter, we may not have to wait so long to hear HIS gaffes!

In any event, hope you all had a great holiday weekend despite the oppressive heat and were safe and sane and filled with patriotic sentiments.

NEW YORK - A DESPICABLE CITY

The recent offensive behavior of some New Yorkers (with the apparent acquiescence of the others around them) at an outdoor showing of a film which was attended by Glenn Beck WITH his wife and daughter is a very good sign that this city has absolutely no manners and no class.

While I believe that most New Yorkers consider themselves the cream of the crop, brimming with intelligence and style, I'm here to tell you that the behavior of those people who were overtly intolerant of Mr. Beck and his family are the most thuggish cretins on planet Earth!

I am always reminded of the comment of former critic Pauline Kael when Richard Nixon was elected to his first term: "I don't know how he won; nobody I know voted for him!" What a dumb bitch! These New York people (like the Angelenos and the San Franciscans) believe that so-called flyover country is populated by cretino0us yahoos with no education, no breeding, no intelligence and no class. In actual fact, we are the ones who keep your leaky rowboats afloat you moronic twits and it's high time someone said so!

We can start by voting that class-warfare-promoting jerk Obama out of office!

Just asking!

IS THE WORLD GOING TO HE** IN A HANDBASKET?

Sean Hannity lost his composure on his show last night and was absolutely roaring at a blonde left-wing bimbo who was on his panel who was insisting that it was both correct and good for the government to start inquiring of 12 year olds about their sex lives "for the greater good" whateverinhell that means! Then she tried to spin Global Climate Change (used to be know as Global Warming before the junk science and hypocrisy was thoroughly exposed) as being the fault of people who have steak for dinner! What a dimwitted apologist for airy fairy theories.

We have serious stuff going on in the world folks. The Middle East is largely composed of people who hate our guts, want what we have, and who will kill us to get it! Why are we wasting time on this kind of crap? Do we really think if we lick their withers it's going to buy us tranquility in our time? Really? Not so much.

People on both coasts seem to be under the impression that they are the intelligentsia and movers and shakers of this land. Apparently the lesson of the Tea Party Movement is wholly lost on them. There are a lot of us who still believe in God, still attempt to keep the 10 Commandments sacred and who do not want a government bureaucrat indoctrinating our kids with the latest crack-brained theories! Police cannot question a minor outside of the presence of their parent(s) but school factotums have abrogated unto themselves the right to ask highly personal and invasive questions as part of the school curriculum. No wonder Johnny cannot read - he's being taught by lunatics and idiots!

I am very depressed about the state of the world and our nation in particular. I refuse to give in to the feelings however - I'm going to get myself in better physical shape, clean my house and then find a Tea Party rally to attend whenever possible!

And just as an aside, wasn't Senator Rubio's recent speech inspiring and on point?

I REFUSE TO SAY "I TOLD YOU SO" BUT WEINER WAS LYING, WASN'T HE?

Krauthammer advises that when someone is committing political suicide, just stand back and watch and don't cheerlead because it isn't seemly to do so! With this, I agree.

He also urges compassion for the man. Nope. Not gonna happen. Where was this man's compassion when he was uttering foul and hateful things about every Republican on God's green earth?

I don't believe the Congressman is truly sorry - except that he's truly sorry that he got caught! Adios perv, don't let the door hit you on your skinny ass as you leave the stage!

UPDATE: For some weird reason, Bill O'Reilly, bloviator supreme, is still trying to show compassion for Weiner but I'm not buying into that crap. Of course, it's sad to watch a man's life being destroyed, but his own actions are the root of the problem. I do, however, think that Republicans shouldn't pile on but rather sit back and watch the debacle unfold!

ABOUT THOSE CHICKENS, MR. EDWARDS

They've finally started coming home to roost, sir! A grand jury has indicted you on felony charges and you will now have to answer those charges in a court of law.

And before the Dems (most of whom possess all the moral fiber of a speck of dust) start prattling on about how "it's just sex" - it isn't. It's about deception and thievery. Using monies contributed in good faith, by people supporting a candidate's campaign for the presidential nomination, for personal purposes is felonious behavior. Doing so while babbling on about how you love your dying WIFE, is disgusting! Claiming to possess strong family values is just plain hypocritical.

People never seemed to flinch in the face of some of Sen. Edwards' verbal hyperbole while practicing law - including the fact that he seemed to be claiming to channel dead babies. But this - this was just too, too much for too, too many people!
JACK KEVORKIAN DEAD AT AGE 83

Mayer Morganroth, a friend of the infamous Jack Kevorkian, has announced that Dr. Kevorkian has died of pneumonia and kidney problems at a Detroit-area hospital. He was 83 years old.

Kevorkian was released from a Michigan prison in 2007 after serving eight years for second-degree murder. He claims to have assisted in at least 130 suicides.

Now he is answering to the ultimate judge.

ABOUT WEINER'S WEINER

Sorry - that was lame but I don't apologize! Any more than Andrea Shea King apologizes for "Pounding Weiner's Weiner"!

IF his Twitter account was hacked - and I very much doubt that it was - why then was he able to use it just a few minutes after the "boner" picture was sent? And why wasn't an immediate investigation begun? If your account is hacked it is very difficult to regain control of it again - certainly not in just a few minutes at least.

Could it be that Rep. Weiner is simply embarrassed due to the apparent lack of size of the member's member being sent via Twitter? If I were a man, I'd be mortified! Since I'm not, I find it a pathetic member to be ignored. Come to think of it, that's pretty much the way I think of the Congressman from New York!

Nothing happened until his nuts were in the cookies (sorry - the bad puns just keep flowing) already and now, if he was lying (and I think he was) he has a big fat Federal indictment pending on his ass!

Anthony Weiner has a long and inglorious history of making inflammatory and offensive comments about Republicans. About time he got his finger caught in his boner!

IT'S A SAD, SAD DAY AT OHIO STATE

I awakened this morning to the very sad news that Jim Tressel, coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes, had resigned his position due to the ongoing scandal regarding discounted tattoos and sold championship rings and the like.

While I don't condone the activities of the players, what business is it of the NCAA if tattoo parlors want to give marquee players a discount? Frankly, my long-held belief is that universities make a veritable fortune from their football programs and the players who are, granted, getting a fine education for free, still have expenses during their college careers for which, quite honestly, they should be paid. They shouldn't be put into the position of grubbing around for nickles and dimes but rather should be free from the financial pressures during their college experience. That way they can and should concentrate on their school work (as Tressel insisted they do - to his enormous credit), might not be tempted to bolt to the pros early, and it would leave a school free to concentrate on educating all of their students and administering a successful athletics program, without the fuddy-duddy, antiquated NCAA breathing down their necks.

Here's a thought - why not tell the NCAA to go stuff themselves? Their investigations are NEVER EVER conducted in a discreet fashion and even when the allegations and charges are baseless - and they have been in many cases at many schools - the school is forever tainted by the rooting around of the NCAA investigators who try to justify their salaries by painting everyone with the same guilt-brush!

Granted, I am an OSU Alumni and more than a little biased (unlike the MSM, I admit my bias), but that's how I see it.

WHAT ARE THE ODDS?

That Justice Elena Kagan will recuse herself from consideration of the Obamacare lawsuits when they reach the Supremes?

She was involved in framing some of the legal strategy involved in the horror known as Obamacare and thus, by any measure of judicial conduct, she must recuse herself.

Is this likely to happen? Hell, no, not if Justice Kagan's unsuitability to rule on the Obamacare cases isn't questioned, and it should be questioned loudly and frequently in full hearing and view of the American public.
GOOD NEWS ABOUT MARK

Thank you all so much for your prayers. Apparently our West Virginia-born guy is going to go a few more successful rounds with the brain tumors! He is one tough dude!

He went to Charlottsville, they did the pre-op and detected a baby tumor starting to manifest and when they did the gamma knife surgery, they zapped the larger tumor but the baby one as well.

Our guy was home by 8 p.m. the same day, with a headache due to the screws they had to put in his skull, but otherwise in great shape and not needing another MRI for 3 months!

Thank you all. We know your prayers are helping to sustain him!

WHY I VOTED FOR KIRSTIE ALLEY TO WIN DWTS!

Call is solidarity with another old broad, call it fellow feeling for someone who struggles, as I always have, with their weight, call it anything you want - to me, picky purist that I am, Kirstie Alley was the clear winner on Dancing With the Stars this season.

She was the oldest contestant, at 60 years of age, and the most considerably out of shape, with an egocentric partner who is 31 years old and of Ukrainian ancestry - a demonstrated curmudgeon!

Throughout the run of the series, she could have whined, she could have pouted, she could have done a lot of things. She could have put on a weekly tantrum like Kate Gosselin did. She could have whined the way Jennifer Grey did. However, what she DID do was practice . . . very hard . . . and work through adversity and pain. Each week she brought to the dance floor what was often not the most perfect dance, but definitely the dance to which the fullest commitment had been given! And THAT is why I'm voting for the courageous and outrageous Kirstie Alley, who at age 60, actually did a cartwheel during last night's freestyle.

She deserves to win and she got my votes, whatever else happens! Hines is good and Chelsea is okay. But Kirstie is my choice!

UPDATE: Hines Ward won, but in my heart (and I suspect in her own) Kirstie was the REAL winner! She looks amazing, she seems happier, less nutty and secure!
