ROSTELECOM CUP (RUSSIA)

This event was notable for the justifiably lauded return of Yvgeni Plushenko. Watching this man skate can bring nothing but pure pleasure, simply because he is so happy to be out on that ice. At age 27, he is at the height of his considerable powers and it is refreshing to see a skater whose jumps don't give you the nervous twitches.

On the other hand, can we talk about the U.S.'s Johnny Weir? He claims to be fully prepared and trained and yet he skates like a nervous virgin in a maximum security prison! I don't mean to be nasty, Johnny, but number one - at age 25 - you are no longer a "Johnny" and should be more of a "John". Second, if you weren't so concerned about your posing and preening on the ice, perhaps you could land a jump or two? I'm just saying! It's clear from looking at Plushenko that one doesn't need feathers and sequins (dear merciful heavens - in profusion no less) to be a respectable skater. What one needs is the heart of a champion. Plushenko has it; Weir does not!

Pang and Tong won the pairs title. Is it too much to ask that she get a decent haircut and new skate laces that are CLEAN? You are skating at an elite level. Surely your federation will treat you to new laces and a visit to a good hair cutting salon! Good grooming shows respect for self and respect for the event.

Keanu McLaughlin and Rockne Brubaker placed well. Is it strictly necessary for Keanu McLaughlin and Meryl Davis to talk like retarded 4 year olds? They are both very talented skaters. Listening to them being interviewed is excruciating!

Congratulations to the incandescent Miki Ando on winning the ladies' title over her vastly overrated teammate Mao Asada! I beat myself up about this because I find it despicable that I sometimes root against people (a character flaw - I'm working on it) but Mao Asada gives off an air that she is entitled to place well because she's well - entitled! And has anyone thought about doing something about her cross-eyes? Might help her performance; it sure would make her easier to look at.

We actually placed first in an ice dancing event! Huzzah! Hoorah! Davis and White were excellent, although this early in the season, I'm sure they'll be improving their program incrementally.

Next weekend - another competition! Meanwhile, the "Return of the King" was the theme of this competition and Plushenko was infectiously joyful thoroughout! I don't normally enjoy seeing this kind of thing - but even him holding up his forefingers toward the end of his long program - showing that he's number one, wasn't offensive! Just endearingly amusing.

TIME TO ACT LIKE AN ADULT, MR. PRESIDENT!

Have Michelle buy you a pair of "big boy" panties and start wearing the damned things, Mr. President. Okay, Fox News criticizes you. I realize that you think you are the second coming of the Lord, sir, but in sober truth - you just aren't! You are a charming, charismatic Chicago ward heeler who lucked into the highest office in the land without any qualifications or abilities to fulfill the office. Yes, you are criticized. Do you think you are criticized any more than your predecessor? Trust me, if you had to bear the weight of unjustified and unfair calumny that George W. Bush endured during his 8 years in office, you'd be curled up on your bathroom floor in a fetal position, sobbing your little heart out! Take an "adult" pill and start acting like the President of the greatest country on earth. Quit being a whiney little brat. The American people and those idiots who voted for you all deserve better.

Incidentally, my cousin was driving to Home Depot (planning to infuse a little $$ into the economy) when he passed a p.o.s. car putting along with a sticker that proclaimed support for "Obama/Biden". He tooted at her and when she rolled down her window he said, "I like your bumper sticker. Nice that you're accepting responsibility for what you did." She gave him the finger and drove off. Shows the mental maturity of most of your supporters, doesn't it? Yep! We're all screwed unless you grow a pair and start behaving like a President.

After 4 years away from competition, the delightful and talented Yvgeni Plushenko is back and competing at what used to be called The Cup of Russia competition. He's 27 years old now and I'm sure the "young guns" in Russian skating, none of whom can hold a candle to Plushenko's style, technical ability and charm, are not exactly bubbling over with joy at his return and yet, since he is willing to put his body through the rigors of training Plushenko is doing Russian men's figure skating an enormous favor. Thanks to the pathetic showing of Russian men at the most recent World championships, Russia only has two spots at the 2010 Olympics for the first time in as long as I can remember. Plushenko will see to it that this doesn't happen again! And in his short program he once again proved that he owns the quad and is a skater with whom the world must reckon.

Welcome back, dear lad! You're growing up into someone I can and do respect!

DO GLENN BECK AND RUSH LIMBAUGH DILUTE THE RIGHT'S IMAGE AND PROSPECTS?

Let's first eschew the reflexive "hell no" response of many who are delighted by Glenn Beck's virtual bomb throwing at the Left's agenda.

To me, the question can and should be divided into two categories. Rush Limbaugh is a wholly distinct category from Glenn Beck.

I cannot take Glenn Beck seriously. He is too much the naughty little boy dropping his britches in the public square to horrify his parents and scandalize the passing crowd. It doesn't mean that he gets his facts wrong, however, and so from that standpoint, I am of two minds about the Peck's Bad Boy of punditry. If he could dial back just a trifle on the outrageous locutions, he might be an effective mainstream pundit.

Rush Limbaugh has been around for what seems like forever. He is and always has been a burr under the saddle of any and all left-wing dopes trying to flimflam the American public into believing the latest load of bullshit being peddled by the great and [temporarily] powerful! Rush is Rahm Emanuel's worst nightmare and I'm sure it must be frustrating as hell to President Obama's nasty butt boy that he can't just wave his magic wand and wish Rush out of existence. Note to Rahm: Better men than you have tried, bucko, and have failed miserably! I don't always agree with Rush Limbaugh but I always love him and I always respect his intelligence and credentials as a conservative pundit. Demonizing him, as the White House is attempting to do, only makes him stronger.

All this White House posturing vis-a-vis Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Fox News is by no means anything other than a miserably pathetic attempt to distract the American public (the right leaning portion of it anyway) from the fact that the Obama administration is attempting to frog march us into outright socialism at an astonishing clip! And no, neither Rush nor Glenn Beck pose any serious impediment to the Republicans recapturing a plethora of House and Senate seats in 2010. The case in favor of that happy prospect is being made quite capably by the White House and the current administration.

I am a conservative Republican woman; have been one all my life and am not in the least ashamed of my political stance. My question to anyone who is not a conservative is, why in hell not? What's wrong with your critical thinking apparatus? Are you daft?

REVERSE BOYCOTT FOR CHRISTMAS SEASON!

The Obama White House has foolishly declared war on Fox News Network. This is stupid behavior because it (a) thoroughly exposes the thuggish nature of the President's staffers and (b) displays for all the world to see just how thin-skinned Barack Hussein Obama really is!

So here's the deal. Make yourself a list of Fox News Channel advertisers. Christmas is coming and what discretionary Christmas shopping dollars we have should go to those good folks. And, make sure when you are shopping at these stores, we let them know we are shopping there because they advertise on Fox News Channel. Maximum benefit for minimum effort in my view!

IS THIS HOW THE ROMAN CITIZENRY FELT AS THE INFRASTRUCTURE CRUMBLED?

The Roman Empire crumbled into bits in around 476 A.D. Some of the causes cited for this "fall" included Christianity, decadence, lead, monetary trouble and military problems all contributed although studies conducted at The Ohio State University cite the following causation:

1. Economic (lack of circulating currency and trade deficit, and other factors not clearly economic, like environmental change and decaying infrastructure);
2. Military (citizenship granted to all reduced the incentive to joint the army), and
3. Gradual transformation from a pagan society to a Christian society and the internal struggles that resulted from resisting the imposition of Islam.

If any of those three above-listed factors look familiar, perhaps that explains the feeling of malaise we seem to be suffering at the moment. Certainly our country is experiencing a decaying infrastructure as well as monetary implosions of various kinds. In addition, we have a president who possesses no understanding of the military of which he is Commander in Chief, an "open borders" attitude toward illegal immigration and an only ephemeral adherence to Christianity in any form. As to decadence, one only has to look at our Hollywood folk who believe that someone may care about where their political impulses lead them, despite their clear inability to reason coherently, and despite the lives of moral turpitude most of them lead.

I think what is happening is something that we can and will be able to resist and change but not without some sacrifice and hard work on our part. We must not allow the Leftists to set and control our national dialogue; nor should we allow them to suppress or stifle altogether the voices of responsible opposition, as the White House is now attempting to do with Fox News.

It occurs to me that Barack Hussein Obama rarely put a foot wrong during his seemingly endless run for the White House. I don't think he ever gave a thought to the possibility that he might win and need to govern and that is why he is so clumsily incompetent now. Mr. President, I respectfully suggest that we aren't a banana republic and the American people will never countenance being treated as if we are! We won't do things just because you say so, we won't accept incursions on our liberty in the name of whatever snake oil you are trying to sell. In other words, we won't allow you to continue your destruction of our beautiful country in pursuit of your socialist aims. I don't even think they are your socialist aims; it occurs to me that you are an empty vessel being directed by George Soros, that ultra wealthy, anti-Semitic Jewish money manipulator who dislikes a country he cannot control and wants to either run us according to his own weird schemes or destroy us if we won't cooperate. He is doomed to fail. We, the American people, will see to it.

AL SHARPTON REALLY IS A HORSE'S DERRIERE!

The Rev. Al Sharpton is ready for a Rush to judgment.

The civil rights leader, typically impervious to insults, said Saturday that he will sue Rush Limbaugh for defamation unless he gets an apology from the right-wing radio host.

Sharpton was outraged by a Limbaugh op-ed piece in The Wall Street Journal that blamed him for the 1991 Crown Heights riot and a 1995 killing spree at a Harlem store.

"I am definitely going to prove he makes reckless, unaccountable statements," Sharpton said. "Which is why he was forced out of buying an NFL team in the first place."

Go ahead Rush, let the sleazy son-of-a-bitch sue you. That way you get his nasty ass on the witness stand and he can be examined about things he has said and people he has damaged with his own words. And Rush wasn't forced out because of what he said but because dishonest hucksters like you take the things he never actually said and use them as clubs to force a cowardly syndicate partner to run for cover! Screw you Mr. Sharpton. Your time has passed. Now shut the hell up!

What good reputation does Al Sharpton have that could be damaged? He's a race baiting, anti-Semitic hustler who makes his living inflaming the worst aspects of our natures.

Target, predictably, caved in spinelessly to the bleating of some broad claiming to be a spokesperson for oppressed illegal aliens when they removed this Halloween costume from their stores. What a load of horse puckey that is. Why should anyone, least of all a French corporation, give a rap about the injured feelings of people who broke the law to come to our country and who now claim endless rights as a result? Screw 'em - let them go back where they came from! We don't want them here and they should buy a clue! People who have illegally entered my country and are making any kind of offended noises are definitely not welcome here.

RUSH LIMBAUGH AND THE CHARGES OF RACISM!

El Rushbo (as he is affectionately known by somedamnbody) was dropped from a group of investors who were planning on buying the St. Louis Rams. As a former Angeleno, I can tell you that nobody wanted the Rams when they were in Los Angeles and why anyone would want them now is beyond my ken! Whatever!

Immediately, our favorite and dependably vocal race-baiting chuckleheads started running their hate-filled mouths, claiming that Limbaugh has said all manner of hateful things about people of color. To that, I reply, bullshit!

It is absolutely true that Rush Limbaugh said none of the things of which he is accused. None. Zero. Zip. Nada! Still, pinheaded babblers repeated these foul and untrue canards ad nauseum on the premise that if you say it often enough - it will become true! Again, horsefeathers!

Last night , Juan Williams and some other young sprout were on O'Reilly. The young man in shrill tones insisted that he still considered Rush Limbaugh a racist because back in 1970, Rush Limbaugh told a radio caller to "take the bone out of his nose"! This whiney young punk wasn't even alive in 1970 (39 years ago, for heaven's sake) and now that the original charges have been proven utterly false (and in fact it has been proven that some left wing clown started circulating the dishonest charges a while ago), the left is casting about for some other way in which to smear Rush Limbaugh. It must be said that Juan Williams, a liberal, was a whole lot more reasonable and intelligent in his views last night! He kind of had a disgusted look on his face as the puppy was blathering on about how maybe Rush didn't say those things he had been accused of saying, but he still was a racist based on the "bone" remark! Give me a flipping break!

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, a pair of racial hucksters down to their toes have no room to talk about Rush Limbaugh although that didn't stop either of them. It was, after all, Rev. Jackson who made the "hymietown" comments. And where do we start with Al Sharpton? Tawana Brawley? Instigating riots and the destruction of Jewish owned businesses? Talk about your basic pair of whitened sepulchres! They are both anti-Semitic and only open their mouths when there is profit to be made!

Throwing around the charge of racist is easy to do and difficult to shake. In a nation where "innocent until proven guilty" is the rule of law, it is left to the accused in a charge of racism to prove that the charge is untrue.

And let's be very honest folks, the people in the NFL aren't angels either. Michael Vick and dogfighting? Over 200 of the NFL's roster having felony convictions to their names? If your hands are unclean, you cannot criticize others. My feeling is that, much as Rush Limbaugh adores the game of football (and it's well known that he does) he is better off not being involved with those people. And yes, I agree with Rush Limbaugh that Donovan McNab is overrated. And not because I'm a racist. I agree because I have watched McNab play! He's good, but he isn't all that! And, despite their best efforts, the Left has never been able to get rid of Rush Limbaugh (or for that matter any conservative radio personality) and it drives them nuts that he just keeps going from strength to strength, despite setbacks and personal demons, becoming more successful and more rich with every passing year. They cannot even throw jibes at his weight any longer (some of them still try), because the man lost 80 pounds recently!

Jefferson how useful a freezer is as a bank.

Hundreds of thousands of Americans marched in the streets at the Town Hall meetings and on 9/12 in the streets of Washington, D.C. I would think the sight of so many previously quiet and compliant Americans being so fed up with their elected representatives would have made it clear to our "betters" in the Congress that we aren't in the mood for their shit any longer. But no, they dissed those good people (who happen to be their EMPLOYERS) and ignored what they were saying.

Maybe they'll finally, finally get the message in November 2010 when we boot their asses out of their cushy jobs and send them packing!

HOPE EVERYONE ENJOYED THEIR WEEKEND!

Took the lovely "Sis" to lunch on Saturday. Wanted to thank her for taking such good care of me while I was being chopped and dropped (so to speak). Went to a place called Smokey Bones where we were informed that appetizers were half price (therefore we had 2 of them) and then we followed up with a 7 oz. sirloin steak with sides. I haven't had that much for lunch in over a year! Talk about stuffed.

Fell asleep watching Ohio State's defeat of Wisconsin about 2/3 of the way through. When I awakened, the game was over! Spent the entire afternoon loving on Sam the Wonder Cat who didn't enjoy that even a little bit. LOL!

Yesterday, had friend Bobby over to clean up the front yard for the winter months! It looks so nice and crisp and tidy! I just love it. Did some laundry, made a pot of beef stew (with beer in it) and went to bed early.

I love the autumn months. Chillier weather, college football and a comfortable home. That's called living the American Dream - and if that jugeared s.o.b. has plans to take that away from me, he'll find a veteran [and skillful] political operative fired up and aiming her best moves in the direction of the Democratic Party.

WINTER OLYMPICS COUNTDOWN

The Winter Olympics will be starting in Vancouver, Canada in approximately 120+ days. The events will take place in a gloriously beautiful setting with all the beauty the American and Canadian Northwest has to offer.

We will be fielding an interesting team. The qualifications for the team have not yet taken place but I think you can expect Alissa Czizny and Evan Lysacek to be on the team along with Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto. I hate to be a grumpy old broad, but I really do think Rena Inoue and John Baldwin have gone as far as they are ever going to be able to go and I do wish they would get out of the way and let some other, more promising team take their place on the American team.

I see a great big limb looming ahead of me and I'm recklessly going to scramble out on that limb. The incomparable Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo will challenge strongly for the Pairs Gold and it is my belief that they will win it easily. They are just magnificent skaters, albeit they are somewhat older than most of the field. I just harbor a burning desire to see them with a gold medal around their necks. Their courage and grace and the sheer beauty of their skating makes it a deserved honor.

It won't be long now, folks, when once again I will be in the throes of my favorite obsession which includes watching incredible performances whilst bitching about dirty skate laces and dark roots! Here's a foretaste: It's the Olympics ladies. Get the roots done beforehand and buy some new, clean, laces for your skates!

UPDATE: How on earth did I manage to overlook the shimmering beauty of Yu-Na Kim of South Korea. She is technically brilliant and beautifully trained (courtesy of the extraordinary Brian Orser) and she is lyrical and musical in her presentation - and stands head and shoulders above any of the other female skaters. In the Grand Prix Paris this past weekend, this magnificent young woman was a full 36 points ahead of her nearest competitor, former World Champion Mao Asada!

WTF?

Barack Huseein Obama, the big Zero, has won the Nobel Peace Prize due to what a Russian commentator called "lots of nice words, no deeds"! When I heard it on the news this morning, I honestly through that Steve Doocy was kidding. But nay, it is true! In a lifetime of getting major credit for minor accomplishments, this is the pinnacle! Only Satan could produce such a overweaning nothingness being perceived as worth attention! I'm convinced of it. Our completely incompetent president is the most colossal fraud in the history of frauds! P.T. Barnum would be so proud of him.

The Norwegians are NUTS and the people who nominated Zero are either crazy or purely evil!

JUST BREAKING:

A senior aide to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told CNSNews.com that it is “likely” that Reid will use H.R. 1586—a bill passed by the House in March to impose a 90-percent tax on bonuses paid to employees of certain bailed-out financial institutions—as a “shell” for enacting the final version of the Senate’s health care bill, which Reid is responsible for crafting.

Under the procedure, the substance of House Resolution 1586 would be removed and replaced with the entire Senate health care package. The maneuver would initially require the support of 60 senators to vote for cloture on the motion to proceed to H.R. 1586 (i.e., end debate on the congressional procedure and move forward).

If Reid wins 60 votes, then debate begins on his health care package. Reid could then decide to block all amendments and attempt to get a vote on the entire package.

THE BATTLING GOSSELINS
and why they should knock it off!

Golda Meir famously opined that the Arab/Israeli conflict would cease when the Arabs loved their children more than they loved killing Israelis! Jon and Kate Gosselin - take note.

It doesn't matter one whit to me who is right and who is wrong. I'm delighted that Jon Gosselin shut down that execrable show on TLC - and it should have been done a couple of years ago. Kate Gosselin is so doggone money-hungry that she'd never do it on her own. In any event, the show cannot have been healthy for any of the children and, in point of fact, the twins have begun to believe that what they say at age 9 has some world shaking value! I ended up watching a Memorial Day marathon broadcast of the show out of sheer desperation and thus had an almost week-to-week view of the goings on. Mady is a full on version of her mother - emotional and totally bitchy. The other twin, Cara, is much easier to take. The little kids are like 5-year-olds everywhere: obnoxious, whiney and shriekey. Who needs to see that?

Throughout, Kate Gosselin treated Jon as though he was a grease spot under her feet, while she made it a point to have all manner of appearance enhancing treatments - including subjecting us to the tummy tuck she had to have after carrying six babies to term! She's had her teeth done (for free), and she gets tanning (you're a nurse for heavens sake Kate - don't you know how unhealthy that is?) and she flies all around the country doing book signings and personal appearances. She has that horrendous bi-level skunky hairdo and is apparently very dedicated to adorning herself! Her self-adulation is almost an 11th character on the show.

She has managed to have their kitchen remodeled for free and to have "little houses" erected on the property for the entertainment of her children - again for free. Who has been left at home with the kids? Jon Gosselin, that's who.

Bottom line: The parents are getting a divorce and this is going to be hard on the kids. It always is. I was 25 when my parents divorced and it devastated me despite the fact that I knew full well that the divorce was saving my mother's sanity and her life!

The original arrangement was that Jon would be with the kids when Kate was off flying around on her self-aggrandizement trips. All Kate really seems to care about is having the house cleaned and organized and that her children march in lock step like little automatons! Jon genuinely seems to love his children and - despite her control freak tendencies - Jon is a better and more even-handed disciplinarian than the children's mother! And Jon is the one who originally had a fairly good paying job that he was forced to give up because of Kate's grasping money-grubbing.

Apparently Kate is of the mind that all income to the family from TLC or other sources should belong to her and her alone. Wrong, beyatch! Jon is entitled to some of the funds and you having 11 bank accounts and him not having knowledge of or access to any of those accounts is just plain wrong.

It's time for the two of you to take your dispute into obscurity and quit pestering us with your dysfunction! Get your divorce, divy up the loot, and quit providing your 8 children with the need to see shrinks for the rest of their lives! I would, however, suggest that you two be forced to put that $1.3 million house and property into a trust account irrevocable and in the names of your 8 children. They've earned a secure home. And Jon, since you don't seem to have been able to sell your original house, rather than renting a pricey New York apartment, move in there why don't you? At least until you can sell it and remove that additional mortgage from the books. Perhaps an inhabited, somewhat furnished house will sell more easily, despite the poor market. After all, it's the Gosselin's former home.

THE MOST ETHICAL CONGRESS IN HISTORY?
I DON'T THINK SO!

That raging sociopath, Nancy Pelosi, promised "the most ethical Congress in History" when she took over as Speaker of the House (right before she declared herself the most powerful woman in the world - a claim Angela Merkel might dispute)!

How then to explain the "motion to refer" tool used by Madame Speaker yesterday to protect that monument to unethical conduct, Charlie Rangel!? As it stood, 243 Democrats voted (almost as one - resembled a setup but that would be an incorrect assessment - wouldn't it?) to protect the tax dodger who seems to have withheld reporting some $1.3 million in income to the IRS.

According to an article I read this morning online, the Department of Homeland Security is upset with Sheriff Joe of Arizona because he is performing the job that DHS should be performing - finding and deporting illegal entrants into our nation.

The department of Justice and other federal agencies are investigating the sheriff’s office on accusations of racial profiling during the operations, the paper says.

Well hell, we should be expressing concern over illegals crossing our borders in massive numbers, considering that some of those unwelcome and unwanted lawbreakers are here for reasons inimical to America's best interests! You know, like terrorism and the like?! It wasn't the Swiss who brought down those Twin Towers or blew a hole in the Pentagon!

When are we going to be less politically correct and more real!? We cannot just be all kumbaya with people and some of those people do not have our best interests in mind. In fact, they wish us harm. And all of our president's spineless apologizing and groveling won't change a damned thing.

To say that this is the most thin-skinned administration in my lifetime is understatement. I well remember Harry Truman's fury at General McArthur or the N.Y. Times critic who was unkind to Margaret Truman's singing voice. But that was a manly kind of "seeing red" that one would more or less expect from a president. Not the bloodless whining of "It's not fair" we seem to be hearing more and more from the crowd at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Here's a radical thought for a bunch of cretins who seem to adore radical thoughts: Give up the endless campaign and actually start to govern! It might be fun; it certainly might be risky but it's what the American people are paying you for, President Obama. We aren't paying you to take the First Lady out for dinner to celebrate 17 years of marriage. We aren't paying you to undertake a trip to Copenhagen to try to secure the 2016 Summer Olympics for Chicago, Illinois. That trip should have been taken by the Governor of Illinois and Mayor Richard Daley, not you, and certainly not your wife who treated the IOC members as though they were her servants! What an unpleasant woman you are married to, Sir! Demeaning and demanding and altogether unsuitable to be First Lady. But then, you are unsuitable for the Presidency, incompetent and unprepared. Unable to govern and it has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with race! You are still voting present!

The European Union - with 27 member states - was already furious with Obama for snubbing Britain and treating Prime Minister Gordon Brown like some tinpot leader, even with Britain being America's best ally, embarrassing French President Nicolas Sarkozy, and betraying Poland and Czechoslovakia on missile defence - basically suggestng if Russia wanted Poland and Czechoslovakia and decided to take the countries by force the U.S. would do nothing to protect them. And Poland and Czechoslovakia are members of the European Union.

On top of these issues, when Brown gave her a miniature bronze bust of Sir Winston Churchill she sent it back to 10 Downing Street saying she wanted nothing to do with an "imperialistic" leader.

She didn't even realize but for Churchill refusing to surrender to Nazi Germany - and thereby giving the U.S. a landing strip in Europe - Adolf Hitler - the worst racist in modern times - would have won the war.

Where would the blacks be then?

So, Chicago went from being the frontrunner to getting a scant 18 votes and tossed out on the first bllot.

Karma IS a bitch! And I was starting to harbor some kind feelings for our First Lady - at least in comparison to her clumsily ignorant husband!

R.I.P. EUGENE K.

Many family members, sometimes me - although not always - have always blamed Eugene K. for our dear David's drug overdose death. Bottom line - David made poor choices and while Eugene may have been a "contributor" - it was David's choice to take that poison. Subsequently, and through her own intention, David's grieving mother died of a massive stroke. When David died she adamantly refused to take any of her diabetes or high blood pressure medications. She also made a number of direct attempts to kill herself.

Now Eugene has died of a brain aneurysm, I'm told, and at age 27, a bright and charming young man has gone from us and from his grieving parents.

Drugs are the bane of human existence and young men who think they are immortal have a great ability to find themselves dead as a result of playing with them in their ignorance. It isn't just the rich and famous, you know. It's also the young and stupid!

Meanwhile, a brilliant and beautiful young man is gone from us at a time when we need all the brilliant and beautiful we can find.

Rest in peace dear lad. I'm sure I'll be seeing you one of these days.

There is only one word for his efforts: "splat!" Apparently his efforts were required in order to pay back Mayor Daley 2.0 for Daley's support during the election campaign. Was his apparent need to try to make a joke out of the whole thing. They weren't good jokes and it wasn't a laughing matter. What is it with these liberals? If these two goofs had to go after a woman on the open market, neither of them would "score". That's my opinion and I'm holding to it firmly.

ROMAN POLANSKI CASE - IS GENIUS
A GOOD DEFENSE?

Director Roman Polanski is sitting in a Swiss jail today while efforts to extradite him to the U.S. are ongoing. His supporters and his attorneys are all outraged that a 31 year old arrest warrant is being enforced! They state, for the record, and in all earnest lack of comprehension that after all, a long time has passed, the victim of Polanski's rape doesn't want him prosecuted and besides, the man is a genius and has already spent 40+ days in jail to answer to this charge.

I beg your pardon?

The average sentence for a convicted rapist is 288 months and heaven knows what the sentence would be for someone who rapes a child! An official familiar with the case had little sympathy for Polanski, pointing out that he raped a 13-year-old girl, pleaded guilty to a charge and then chose not to face imposition of whatever sentence a court was going to set. As the offender, the source said, Polanksi does not get to determine his punishment -- the legal system does.

I get such a kick out of liberals who think that one standard of legality should apply to them and another to the rest of us rubes out in flyover country!

Bring the kinky bastard back to this country, let him present his case of prosecutorial misconduct, renounce his guilty plea, whatever. But let him endure his day in court, just like any other sick s.o.b. who seems to think he is above the law!

DON'T WORRY; BE HAPPY!

We must and should remain vigilant vis-a-vis our egregiously incompetent President, his cabinet, his czars as well as the Senate and House of Representatives. I find it fascinating that these feckless twits (well, let's be honest - most of them are less than that) who occupy both the House and the Senate do not even begin to understand that they work for the American people and not the other way around. And it's high time that they received an attitude adjustment.

They are all so happy to see us at their re-election rallies when they can hope to wrest a campaign contribution from us, and they are utterly dismissive of us when we express our opinions in public as we did on 9/12. President Bill Clinton has trotted out that old chestnut "vast right wing conspiracy" to explain the honest disapproval being expressed by American citizens toward President Obama's plans. Why does it have to be a conspiracy?

I will grant you that the self-righteous prigs of the Democratic Party (and a humorless bunch they are as well) honestly believe that we're too stupid to govern our own lives. They are so enamoured of their own intelligence and worthiness that they feel that if we don't do things their way, we're doomed! To that I say, as plainly as possible, horse feathers! Here's a bit of truth for all y'all. We "regular" Americans didn't create a corrupt group like ACORN. We "regular" Americans don't believe that our country needs to apologize for itself at every turn. We "regular" Americans are proud of our nation and consider getting it right in Afghanistan more important than going to Copenhagen to push an Olympics bid for the endlessly corrupt city of Chicago!

Does this President ever intend to leave "campaign mode" and start governing? Where our current president is concerned, the American people who voted for him really went for a "pig in a poke" and I have heard from many of them that they deeply regret their vote!

Sunday morning, I will go to early Mass, then get a pedicure at 11 a.m. (TMI?) and then head on home to bake some goodies for my co-workers. This reminds us of Elijah on Mount Carmel in I Kings 18. After the false prophets prayed all day to the idols, Elijah stepped forward and prayed 63 powerful but simple words found in verses 37 -38, "Hear me, O Lord, hear me that this people may know that Thou art the Lord God . . . then the fire of the LORD fell . . . !"

Let us join together around the world and pray that the fire will fall upon the authentic sacrifice. We can do this because as Elijah said, "Let it be known this day that Thou art God in Israel!"

Let us pray I Kings 18:36-39. Lord, give us a true revival among the Muslims for the name of Jesus.

A fellow named Creigh Deeds (D) is running against Bob McDonnell (R) for the Virginia Governor's office. Mr. McDonnell, a man with a specific agenda that is clearly spelled out in his campaign documents and in his television advertisements, began the campaign with a sizable lead against his opponent.

Creigh Deeds has put forth no agenda or plans for our state whatsoever and is so far running on only negative campaign ads which basically accuse Bob McDonnell of being a values voter who is opposed to abortion - over and over and over again! It may come as a surprise to Creigh Deeds that many Virginians are not big fans of the holy sacrament of the Democratic Party. I myself am adamantly opposed to abortion on demand or as a birth control method and most of my friends feel the same way. I do believe in the rights of the unborn and don't believe in murder or euthanasia.

Deeds is closing the gap. And that, my friends, is a damned shame. Creigh Deeds is a whining, ultra liberal and clueless dimwit who doesn't seem to have the slightest idea of what the governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia is to do in order to fulfill the demands of the job, but is apparently campaigning for the job simply because he wants it. Oh, and because he apparently wasn't a rich kid! Neither was I but I don't put myself forth as a candidate for governor. I don't consider myself qualified, although I do believe I am MORE qualified than that feeble moron being run for the office by the Dems. Do they honestly think we Virginians are sufficiently stupid to buy the Deeds Kool Aid being sold to us? Based on the polls, we are.

The temperature of the earth has actually dropped over the past ten years, but the alarmists who are making careers from their junk science and boatloads of money as well are intent that you never know this!

These people have everything to gain from pushing their global warming agenda down your throats. It’s another scam folks so don’t buy into it!

LET'S DO THE ACORN TWO-STEP!

It is my opinion that ACORN was not founded, nor funded, to be a corrupt, thuggish organization that would ultimately embarrass the President of the United States, assuming that actual embarrassment is in his repertoire!

The road to hell and all – that’s what I think of their good intentions. Now their hands have been found in the cookie jar and it is not seemly to use their disgrace and probable dissolution as grounds for our sniggering glee, as pleasurable as we might find it to do so.

The American people are not especially tolerant of that kind of behavior in the face of someone’s disgrace.

Where there is a vast sum of money involved, as was the case here, the temptation to play fast and loose with the rules can be overwhelming. And let’s be very realistic. The current administration has shown that running a business is not a part of the past experience of its members, nor is it within its realm of capability. The same can easily be said of ACORN – an enterprise which had a young attorney named Barack Hussein Obama in 1995 and an enterprise of which he denies any substantive knowledge. Given the fact that there is so damned much that our president doesn’t know, I’m inclined to believe him about ACORN.

DEALING WITH ILLNESS!

Over the last few months, as regular readers will attest, I have been dealing with the effects of a long, enthusiastically lived life that involved - sometimes in equal parts - wine, good (or not so good) men and really good food. Once upon a long ago, I was an athlete and that, more than anything, may be what has kept me alive, despite myself!

In August and again this month, I have had the carotid arteries in my neck, both right and left and in that order, taken into an operating room (with me attached of course) and a roto-rooter job has been performed on them. My overall health is better than I deserve, but my poor beleagured arteries are showing the effects of too many quarter-pounders!

That my overindulgence has not killed me may be a testimony to my generally good health. I am as strong as an ox in most ways and am kept active thanks to Sam the Wonder Cat.

For what it's worth, I am immensely grateful to modern health care and to Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia for doing their part to care for me after the enormously talented (and rather cute) surgeon, Dr. Victor D'Addio cleaned up my self-made mess!

Would this excellent care been available to a woman of 67 years of age under the Obama health care scheme? I rather doubt it.

So crack open the pinot grigio kids. Thanks to privately held medical coverage, I'll live to bedevil our current administration at least another few days! Sam the Wonder Cat is very grateful. And I am very grateful for all the prayers that came my way. Their effect was definitely felt.

Bob Beckel was on Fox News this weekend and opined that "only two" right wing voters were even aware that President Obama was stabbing Eastern European allies in the back (Poland and the Czech Republic to be specific) by reversing the agreement vis-a-vis the missile shield.

Loving our country does not mean we're stupid Beckel. In fact, making that unwarranted and indefensible statement proves that YOU SIR are woefully misinformed. I am fully informed and everyone I know is likewise fully informed. We are the people who are holding your messiah's feet to the fire for his lies. In my view, although his locution was inappropriate as to locale, Rep. Wilson is a hero to me! The only time President Obama is not lying is when his mouth isn't moving!

Speaking of misinformed - Bill O'Reilly is partaking once again of the Left's KoolAid averring that the District fire department said there were only 75,000 protesters in D.C. on 9/12. Anyone who has seen the footage shown on O'Reilly's network knows that the estimate is wildly off! But then, Bill O'Reilly is wildly off and is completely unwatchable! Incidentally, the bloviating gasbag O'Reilly got it way wrong. The National Park Service estimates 1 million or more.

HERE'S A ZEN QUESTION FOR Y'ALL!

What if an ACORN falls in the forest and nobody but one cable news outlet pays any attention? Does that mean that it didn't happen?

Even the Washington Post, and despite the Senate's vote to withhold further financing from ACORN last night (83-7 - fairly definitive vote), is not paying any attention to the building scandal involving ACORN being caught with their hands in the cookie jar of corruption! Gee, Mrs. Pelosi, it wasn't all that long ago that you were describing Republicans as having "a culture of corruption" and yet, it's your fellow Democrats who are displaying the acrid stink of ethical meltdown on a daily basis.

But then hypocrisy is the watchword of the Democratic Party these days - what with that despicable puppet occupying the White House (I'm sure George Soros has his hand up President Obama's shirt) and his endless lies about the Health Care Reform bill.

2010 is coming Madame Botox and with it the retribution of the voters you have had the effrontery to describe as "Nazis" and "silly" and all other manner of insults. No you stupid broad, we are your employers and we're about to see to it tht you're unemployed!

RIP PATRICK SWAYZE

When I lived in California, I had the good fortune to briefly meet this talented young man and his beautiful wife since they just lived down the road from us, which is a very California thing.

He was lovely and gracious and charming and very very attractive! And now, he has lost his battle with pancreatic cancer and is in a place with no pain, no illness. Our hearts and prayers go out to his lovely wife, his marvelous and talented mother and his brothers, all of whom will be grieving the loss of someone so special.

He did give us "the time of our lives" and we didn't really know what a brief time we'd have with this talented and wonderful young man.

SURGERY WENT FINE!

Aside from the problem we had with the incision continuing to bleed ever so slightly over the next 2 days, necessitating a trip to the emergency room on Friday night into Saturday morning (Thank you Linda) all is going well and I'm healing nicely. Thanks everyone for the prayers. I'm feeling very good, albeit a trifle woozy, but I'm attributing that to too much political news on TV.

Van Jones has joined Reverend Wright, among others, under Obama's bus for those he uses and then discards - quite callously. What's most important is that the President now knows that we are watching him like a hawk and there isn't much wiggle room available. And we need to keep it that way. The person we most need to observe carefully and closely henceforth is one Valerie Jarrett. She is the person who claimed to have carefully vetted Jones and all the other feckless trivialities that The Won has nominated into positions of power in his administration.

Now don't get me wrong. I believe and support wholeheartedly the right of a President to surround himself with his own team. But it occurs to me that one requirement should be that the team chosen not be comprised of radical anti-American nimrods! It seems a small thing to ask, but an important one.

Meanwhile, one of the organizations that Van Jones founded has been working really hard to harm Glenn Beck and his show. Glenn's still there! Van Jones is gone. All is right with the world and God is in His heavens, looking out for us despite the fact that we don't deserve His kindness.

I'm really getting very weary of this Chicago politician/thug feeling he has the right to condescend to American citizens as though we were just a silly twits undeserving of his attention! It doesn't matter if he does it directly or through the mouth of his snarky Press Secretary Gibb. There's a young man who would benefit from having his mouth washed out with some Lava soap! Disrespectful mouth on him for sure!

WASHINGTON (AP) - The White House on Friday dismissed as pointless the furor over President Barack Obama's plan to deliver a televised back-to-school speech to the nation's students.

"I think we've reached a little bit of the silly season when the president of the United States can't tell kids in school to study hard and stay in school," presidential spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters. "I think both political parties agree that the dropout rate is something that threatens our long-term economic success."

President Obama, buy a clue! The American people are your employer and we do not appreciate it when you feel compelled to smirk down your nose at us! If American parents find it objectionable for you to make a direct approach to their children, however benign, then you must respect that.

We deserve no less than that respect and will accept no less than that respect.

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS WAS A RESPECTED NEWS ORGANIZATION - ONCE UPON A TIME!

They have become scum-sucking, bottom-feeding whores who have about as much to do with real journalism as my cat!

Defense Secretary Robert Gates is objecting “in the strongest terms” to an Associated Press decision to transmit a photograph showing a mortally wounded 21-year-old Marine in his final moments of life, calling the decision “appalling” and a breach of “common decency.”

The AP reported that the Marine’s father had asked – in an interview and in a follow-up phone call — that the image, taken by an embedded photographer, not be published.

Then these cretins wonder why they are losing so much money and nobody wants to read their product any longer. They've self-destructed in a very real and public way, starting with the New York Times, the Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times. All of them and many others are mere shadows of their former admirable selves and do not deserve the trust and attention of honest Americans! This particularly saddens me because I was trained as a journalist during my undergraduate days. We were taught that ethics and fair dealing were qualities to be prized, and sensationalism was to be avoided. Clearly the AP hasn't learned this lesson, else they would not have found it acceptable to distribute this photograph nationwide over the objections of the Marine's father.

Shame on them. Shame on the newspapers who found it acceptable to use those photographs either online or in their print editions!

The hell of this is, due to their utterly despicable lack of ethics, the newspapers that were once essential to keeping our governing class honest, will be no more. It's up to the "new media" now, folks!

WHAT AMERICA IS ALL ABOUT!

This young man is a hero to his hometown and now he's a hero to me as well!
A 14-year old girl got onto a school bus with 22 students (including Eulls) aboard, some of them little kids. Eulls was asleep in the back of the bus until one of his siblings awakened him.

Kaleb Eulls saved the lives of 22 students Tuesday morning.',

Eulls then opened up the emergency door located in the back and began evacuating as many students as he could from the rear of the bus while trying to reason with the armed female.

"I just tried to talk to her and calm her down," said the 6-foot-4, 255-pound Eulls. "She was just getting louder and louder. I guess for a quick second she looked out the window and when she did that I just sprung at her. I just knocked her down and got the gun away from her. When I got the gun I ran out the back door and disarmed it."

Eulls, who is a four-star defensive end that is verbally committed to play football at Mississippi State next year, was not concerned for his own well being at the moment. He selflessly did what he thought was the right thing to save the life of the others on board.

"I was just scared for the younger kids and my family that was on the bus," Eulls said. "I was just thinking things out step-by-step as quickly as I could. After we got to the school and watched the tape I just sat there thinking 'what in the world did I just do?' I just thought about what if this would have happened or if this would have happened? It was just crazy."

This is the kind of logical thinking under pressure that should be emphasized in our schools. Not the deification of a 2nd rate politician who got lucky!

I would vote for this young man. I didn't and never would vote for the other!

THEY COULD AT LEAST PRETEND TO BE PAYING ATTENTION!

I was watching the YouTube clip of Michigan Congressman Rogers and his utterly sensible remarks on the current health care reform legislation. The entire time he was talking, you could see that nasty and ever-so-slightly-crazy Henry Waxman busily chit chatting with someone else sitting next to him and paying not the slightest bit of attention to what was being said.

Should they not be required to at least pretend they are doing the job we pay them to do? And shouldn't the chairman of a committee, in particular, make paying attention a primary goal?

I guess my thoughts were triggered by the utterly indefensible clips of some state legislators sitting in chambers during a debate playing solitaire on their (no doubt government funded) laptops!

They know nothing. They arrive with their agenda already well defined. They do as little as possible (not even reading the bill they are trying to cram down our throats) and they are doing their very best to screw up America!

Throw the bums OUT! As soon as possible.

SAM THE WONDER CAT IS UP TO HIS OLD TRICKS - somewhat!

Sis Linda and her sidekick Bobby pretty much closed up all of Sam's escape hatches on the screened in deck back in early August, but he is still in fine fettle when it comes to intimidating each and every dog in the neighborhood. He stands in front of the front screen door and hisses at them as they are walked by the house every afternoon, just to remind them that he's still around! I find it hilarious although some of the dog walkers are puzzled by why on earth their bulldog or German shepherd seems to be terrified of an ordinary house cat. Little do they know!

Once darkness has fallen and Sam is done hanging by the front door, he strolls back to my recliner, hops on my lap and chirps as if to tell me that he has done his job for the day! What a character. Is it any wonder that I love him so?

THE EVER-DECREASING SIZE OF THE WORLD AND OTHER THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO HMMMMM!

When I first started reading blogs, what seems like many years ago, I would never have imagined myself actually having a blog of my own and writing for it. More preposterous still was the idea that I would make great and good friends over the years, via the blogsphere, people who could and did comfort me when life handed me unmeasurable sorrow and who would celebrate with me when life (in its semi-balanced way) presented me with the opportunities for transendant joy. So it is that Beverly (Piano Girl) and Kitty (Kitty Litter) and Aaron (the most handsome proprietor of Lifelike Pundits) and the exquisite mother of the late, greatly lamented Baby and the now-courting Tiny, Miss Sissy all became utterly necessary parts of my life. And then there's the incomparable Anchoress (Elizabeth) and Michael of HNAV and the prickly Pat and then there's Paul of In My Taxi. They are all dear and beloved friends. Then there is Andrea in Florida and Dave Logan and Charles in Chicago and who keeps us apprised of the "Chicago Way" and too many others to mention.

They are all near and dear friends and I wouldn't trade one of them for anything on earth. They have encouraged me to write, something I very much enjoyed doing in my long-ago youth, and so I am writing. These exceptional people make me laugh, give me comfort when I cry, appreciate my (to some) unnatural attachment to Sam the Wonder Cat.

It isn't just that we share basic values (yes, Paul, even you), but we "get" each other's humor and point of view instantly.

We're facing a very bumpy time frame over the next year. It sure is good to know we have each others' backs! If they wish, the miserably dishonest Left (who assume that everyone is as corrupt as they) may make snide remarks about a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, but those people going to the tea parties aren't part of any conspiracy. They are Americans, each and every one, who are standing up for what they believe is right. So to them also, these lovely roses are given. God Bless America. And God Bless AMERICANS!

THE MOST STUPID THING ZERO CAN DO!

A bill is now in Congress that would permit Zero to do the most insanely stupid thing he might want to do - shut down the Internet entirely (if that's even possible - IT experts' opinions requested here). He might be able to shut down AOL and/or Yahoo but it is my prediction that if he did so, the Iranian street demonstrations would appear to be a Sunday walk in the park in comparison to what His Nibs would experience here in this country.

The sleeping giant that is the average, normally compliant and quiet American citizen has already been awakened. And there are enough people in this country who know what procedures are involved in an impeachment trial forced by the American electorate who would help those of us who think that Zero is an anti-American "wholly owned" subsidiary of George Soros and his minions to bring it on - and no amount of lily-livered whiney Leftwing liberals would be able to stand against the American citizen thus aroused.

Remember when George W. Bush was intercepting the overseas phone calls of "suspect" Americans under the Patriot Act and the attacks of the vapors being had by the Left? We on the right don't have the vapors! We have the guns and the will to force the return of OUR government to OUR control. I am NOT advocating an armed rebellion - but I am fully cognizant that the wrong steps by the current administration might just piss off enough people that one might begin.
