A newly published interview quotes Mike Nifong as saying that if the accuser cannot or will not identify Evans, Finnerty, and Seligmann, then Nifong will be forced to drop the charges. Excuse me for stumbling on this one a little - how could she NOT identify these three young men whose PICTURES have been plastered all over the newspapers and television for nearly a year? And shouldn't the accuser have participated in a proper line-up quite some time before the first hearing in February?

This IS the same Mike Nifong who said if there was no DNA match, no charges would be filed?

This IS the same Mike Nifong who has PERSECUTED three innocent young men for nearly a year?

This IS the same despicable cretin who just had ETHICS charges filed against him by the State Bar of North Carolina, including charges that he talked entirely too much to the press?

So of course, this latest unbelievable statement was part of a THREE HOUR interview just concluded with Mr. Nifong and the New York Times!

The mind reels!

I think he decided to get re-elected come hell or high water. Apparently he didn't think hell or high water would ever show up at his doorstep, but he's in for a rude awakening.

Ever wonder what (or why?) causes people to make such painfully obvious mistakes?

A complete disconnect with reality or an inability to think through to CONSEQUENCES.

You are so not kidding about this! It is amazing that he is still in office - this is a debacle of the highest order.

I guess trying to keep his constiuency [whatever the demographic] is more important than an actual correct and thorough investigation.
