TRAGIC BRIDGE COLLAPSE IN MINNEAPOLIS
Our concern and prayers go out to all of those who were, either directly or indirectly, affected by this tragedy.
And to our dear friend Paul, fellow blogger and one of a rare breed (a reasonable and intelligent, sane liberal), we are all so very grateful that you are okay and safe. You were the first thought on my mind when the news came over the TV last night!

I sent Gayle an email the day after the tragedy, but I wanted to thank her for her concern publicly and make sure everyone reading this post doesn't think the worst because I let it go unanswered!
The tragedy has been just about as minimal as possible, with probably less than a dozen dead when all is said and done. There is government aid available and, although we won't have the bridge complete in time for the Republican Convention next August, you can still visit the state fair which ends the first day of the convention. So arrive a day or two early and see the fair!
