HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

I am the daughter of a most determined woman. That is why I was born at 11:56 p.m. on July 3, 1942. Irene Savko Miller considered having a “firecracker” baby to be just too corny.

My mother was a deeply patriotic woman. She was the child of legal immigrants to this country and she always considered it to be her good fortune to be born here instead of her parents’ native Hungary. It is from her I believe I have inherited my impatience with pretension, arrogance and dishonesty together with love of my country.

Following, as my own personal celebration of my birthday, are the people who chapped my hide during the first half of 2006:

*John Murtha. If his family truly loved him, they would get him expert psychiatric care at once.
*Howard Dean. Every time he opens his yap, he proves how prescient the American people were in rejecting his presidential bid. If Howard Dean didn’t exist, Karl Rove would have to invent him.
*John Francois Kerry. See below.
*Cindy Sheehan. I know your pain and loss are beyond comprehension. That is not an excuse for stupidity, nor is it a mitigation of your anti-American behavior and your comprehensive disregard of the heroic sacrifice made by your son who was – if you’ll recall – a volunteer in the U.S. Army. You are NOT honoring Casey Sheehan by cozying up to Hugo Chavez, Michael Moore and other slime of their ilk.
*The U.S. Senate. Here’s the deal you marble-skulled dimwits. ILLEGAL INVADERS do not deserve ANYTHING from the American people (Remember us – the people you work for?) except ejection from this country. Generally speaking, the American people have no problem with LEGAL immigration to this country. But we take a pretty dim view of people who break our laws by sneaking into our country illegally and then demanding privileges! So no guys – NO FREAKING AMNESTY, okay?
*Hillary Rodham Clinton. I find her chameleon-like ability to morph her persona endlessly somewhat fascinating, if a little creepy. But I cannot help but remember that her essential persona long before she met Bill was that of an avowed Marxist and nowhere, at any time, have I ever seen that philosophy disavowed by her.
*Critics of Ann Coulter’s new book “Godless”. If you are criticizing the book based on the fact that you have read the totality of the book, that is one thing. But nearly all critics that I have encountered have focused their entire critique of the book on her (very valid) criticisms of FOUR 9/11 widows, the so-called “Jersey Girls”. Those comments occupied a mere 2 paragraphs in a rather lengthy and well written, thoughtful and thoroughly researched book. Furthermore, the shrill hysteria from these various critics pretty much prove Ann’s point – that the left cannot have an honest debate. When challenged they will resort to name calling and insults.
*“Pinch” Sulzberger, Bill Keller, et al. There will be a special place reserved for you in excessively hot place if my prayers have any effect whatsoever.

You pray for people to go to hell?

Wow, you're just like Jesus!

No - I just make suggestions. It's up to GOD to decide whether or not to accept them.

This is a really interesting post. I agree with your observations and especially about Ann Coulter's new book. I think it's the best she's written so far and it's well documented and researched.

You are right about the Jersey Girls. I love it that Ann is so fearless and refuses to apologize for her statements about the Jersey Girls' marriages.

Like you wrote, there is scant mention of the pushy widows but that is what the cynical critics focused on to try to scare women away from reading Coulter's book.
