VERSACE SAYS SENATOR CLINTON SHOULD ESCHEW PANTSUITS

"BERLIN (Reuters) - U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton should tap into her feminine side and wear dresses and skirts instead of trousers, fashion designer Donatella Versace was quoted as saying on Thursday.

"I can understand (trousers) are comfortable but she's a woman and she is allowed to show that," Versace told Germany's weekly newspaper Die Zeit in an interview."
Clearly, Ms. Versace considers running for the Presidency of the United States to be some kind of red carpet moment! I believe I have made it quite evident that I do not like, respect or in any way admire Hillary Rodham Clinton, but as a woman I am VERY insulted by this suggestion on a number of levels. This continued insistence in many quarters that women, to be professional, must appear in public wearing dresses or suits with skirts is offensive on its face. Qualifications and substance matter; style does not! Character is important; a skirt is not.

Ms. Versasce's comments trivialize Mrs. Clinton's current position as a United States Senator, and her aspirations (offensive though I may find them) to be our nation's President.

Besides -- who'd want to look at those piano legs --- ugh. the sight of em might cost her some male votes!

An unexpected benefit of her wearing those skirts!

LOL Gayle, I think the more skin she covers, the better for all of us. A burqa, maybe? ;)

I was really attempting to avoid being snarky - and that is REALLY difficult where HRC is concerned. I think I would find Donatella's comments offensive no matter the person she was commenting on.

Besides have you ever SEEN Donatella Versace - rode hard and put up wet is the kindest description I can come up with!

Well, let's consider the source...Donatella Versace is not known for her incisive views on anything other than how long hemlines are. I will disagree to this extent: fashion is important in that people tend to make judgments based on how you look, and someone in the public eye has an interest in looking as good as possible. But you are right, Gayle, when you say character comes first. I'm guessing Hillary doesn't like her bottom part, which is probably why she prefers pants.

Well, who can blame Versace for seeing things in fashion terms? An economist sees the world in economic terms, a Libertarian in his own, and so forth.

That a fashion designer would have such a grotesquely narrow and shallow view of things should surprise no one.

It is sad that these are the types that get so much air time in the centers of power and influence, ie HollyWeird.

Luv ya!
