CAN WE TALK ABOUT FULL-ON JERKS?

Currently the Socialist radicals who are occupying Freedom Plaza (on a 4-month permit given them after they refused outright to honor the one that expired at 2 p.m. on Monday) are making any number of demands that the government bow to their agenda and claiming (quite falsely) that they are speaking for 99% of Americans - which they are not. And I'm willing to bet that their enthusiasm for their cause will quickly wane once the rains predicted for this week begin, let alone the snow and slush that will arrive with the November weather!

Nancy Pelosi and President Obama seem to be quite amenable to this disruption of the Nation's Capitol, despite the fact that the people who actually work in the District are likely being thoroughly inconvenienced by these idiots' antics! Of course, our dear President thinks nothing of swanning around town in his motorcade, screwing up traffic during rush hour so that us ignorant peasants have a longer-than-normal commute leaving town to return to our homes!

Apparently when people break the law and create major disruptions to the business of the nation, they are to be patted on the head and allowed to continue their disruptive behavior. When responsible American citizens who hold opposite views from these left-wing crybabies assemble peacefully, obey the law, leave the Mall cleaner than they found it and generally create no disruptions, they are labeled terrorists by the self-same people supporting tacitly the anti-Wall Street people, most of whom have little to no understanding of how the economic system functions and no clue whatsoever as to what their beloved Obama has done to muck up the works!

Dear Lord, I'm telling you, I've lived too long!

STEVE JOBS - R.I.P.

You wouldn't be reading my blathering if it were not for two youngsters named Jobs and Wozniak (the one who clearly has been overlooked by most of the obit writers) in the tale of the Jobs ascendancy at Apple.

I lived in California at the time that these two visionary young men were just rolling out their new product. I even had a little cash on hand and an opportunity to invest in their fledgling enterprise. Would that I had. I'd be sitting on an island somewhere with my beloved pussycats roaming freely through the flora and fauna.

The man (and the Woz) both deserve full credit for opening up a new world in the later 20th century and both, along with their fellow visionary Bill Gates, changed the way our world communicates.

Jobs was young to die and we'll miss his vision and creativity.

DANCING WITH THE STARS - NIGHT 3

Rob Kardashian, Carson Kressley and my beloved J.R. Martinez are the front runners as far as I'm concerned. Nancy Grace and Ricki Lake look good as well! Rob and J.R. both had my in floods of tears - so emotional and heartfelt were their dances. Kudos to Nancy Grace for displaying the heart beneath the tough exterior! Chynna Phillips likewise displayed grace and enormous emotion. As to the rest, well, I can live without them in coming weeks. Chaz Bono tries really hard but he just doesn't have the requisite talent and I worry constantly about him injuring himself!

Is it my imagination or are there more decent dancers out there this season than in previous seasons?

Tonight's elimination should be interesting!

UPDATE: Kristen Cavalieri and Mark Ballas are gone! Frankly, it should have been Chaz Bono but he does have his constituency! And he is one tough and dedicated competitor. Just no dancer!

ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST!

The killing of U.S.-born Anwar al-Awlaki means that one very, very bad bad man had a very bad bad day! Meanwhile, a debate seems to be shaping up as to whether or not killing him via drone is somehow "cricket" in terms of warfare! My response, hell to the yes! Dead is dead and this creature needed eradication! The fact that he was born here only makes his acts and intentions more heinous and frankly, citizenship doesn't matter a tinker's damn when you're openly and vocally plotting against the U.S. and its citizens!

I don't want to sound like some sort of hardass, but these are the same people who planned and financed and directed the killing of some 3,000 innocent humans on 9/11 and they need to be erased from the face of this planet if we ever have a hope in hell of moving into a better place in terms of international terrorism. If they think they can kill, maim and traumatize this country or other innocents with no consequences, then they will continue to do so!

Screw it! Wipe them all off the face of this blighted planet and let God sort out the details!

DANCING WITH THE STARS - WEEK 2

To my utter astonishment, Rob Kardashian was a refreshing performer on Monday night's show. And of course, J. R. Martinez and Carson Kressley continue to entertain.

I'm almost hoping that Chaz Bono gets voted off tonight. His effort is so sincere and the pain and injury it is causing for him is so evident, that for his own sake, he shouldn't continue on the show. On the other hand, he does want it so badly and he is losing weight. There is nothing about him that would lead anyone to believe he is anything other than a sincere, sweet person.

Nancy Grace was pleasing, as was Chynna Phillips. That Canalis woman needs to go. There is a sweet, wounded quality to her face, but really, a dancer she is not! David Arquette should stay for the sheer entertainment value. Likewise Ricki Lake who is a determined woman!

DANCING WITH THE STAR - FIRST NIGHT

J. R. Martinez is now my official pick to win the competition because (a) he is a wonderful dancer already in the first week and (b) he is clearly a beautiful human being. That smile of his is the most incredible testament to the man's quality as a human being and in all other ways.

Following closely in my view is the effervescent Carson Daly who brings a sense of outright fun to the proceedings, David Arquette who is surprisingly good and to my astonishment - Rob Kardashian who - if he can just forget his nightmare of a family is sitting there watching and judging him - will do very, very well. One thing the Kardashian kids are good at is hard work. I wouldn't count out Rikki Lake either. Surprisingly good work from that quarter.

UPDATE: Well, Ron Artest is gone - which surprised me. Elisabetta Canalis survived until next week, as did Chaz Bono who kind of surprised me!
PRIMETIME EMMY FASHION

Okay, Rule #1 - if you are flat chested, don't wear a neckline that plunges down to your waist! It looks stupid and only emphasizes how you were cheated by the boob fairy! Nobody wants to see your bony poitrine!

If you are attending the Emmys, get your damned roots done!

People are criticizing Katie Holmes for her beautiful blue gown saying it was "too casual". That is an asinine critique. What I would call her look is "classic". And simplicity is the highest form of elegance. Unlike others in attendance, she wasn't tricked out like some kind of circus pony.

Gwyneth Paltrow - you are too old to be baring your midriff! And take a curling iron to that limp, style-free hair of yours! Make an effort at least! Kudos, however, for having your roots in good shape!

To all teenagers: Take a lesson from Kelly Osbourne who has been very clear that she regrets the tattoos on her forearms. Consider your future life and what a potential employer will think of you. Don't get your tattoos in places that are impossible to conceal. Tattoos make a person look cheap and dirty. And removing tattoos is a difficult, lengthy and painful process. For the most part, people looked good although what in the hell was Heidi Klum thinking and did Seal take a shower before hitting the red carpet?

63rd ANNUAL PRIMETIME EMMYS

As of this writing, the show has been lugubriously lumbering along for nearly 1-1/2 hours. Jane Lynch is a disaster as a host and the writing of the show, such as it is, is relying on lame and tired political cliches (Bristol Palin jokes), and thinly disguised social agenda items. The production numbers are overproduced and incoherent and all in all it is an appallingly bad show, particularly in view of the fact that it is on the medium it is supposed to be celebrating.

What is so hard about these awards shows? They used to be entertaining. Show some clips of the nominated actors/shows, present the awards, have a couple of singing numbers that related to the nominated programs. Now it's all sly innuendo, utterly unfunny humor and the flopsweat of the Hollywood liberal establishment desperately attempting to remain relevant! The only win that I applaud is that of Melissa McCarthy for her leading role on Mike and Molly - a show that has the temerity to focus on two seriously overweight people who are actually sexual! And here the "industry" has been trying to convince us that only if you are a size 0 are you able to find love!

At long last, the television academy is putting on full display the paucity of its intelligence, humor and insights! And for that, we should all be grateful.

JOBS PEOPLE CAN DO RIGHT NOW!

I was speaking to my insurance agent this morning and he was sitting in his home office in shorts and flipflops - because there's about an inch of water in there! His insurance carrier has approved the required repairs - but he cannot find anyone to actually perform the work. And it occurred to me that he cannot be the only person in this country who has been hit with a natural disaster side effect like my insurance agent and, thanks to the shortage of people willing to perform actual physical labor, there are paying jobs out there being undone!

So good old American ingenuity needs to kick in here and those who are able bodied and seeking to earn their October rent and any other needs, make your availability known. Put up flyers at the local supermarket. Make your availability known online.

There are people with a strong need and the ability to pay you to fulfill their needs. Pitch in, do a good and responsible job and earn some money for yourself! Clearly I am not inviting the hustlers and the con artists to weigh in but if we fill the ranks of the available helpers with good folks like ourselves, there won't be room for the jerks!

LUCIANNE.COM SAYS IT BEST

Sometimes the simplest gesture is the best! Christie continues to be one of my absolute favorites! No nonsense, blunt spoken, absolutely certain of what he believes and totally courageous in acting upon those beliefs!

A good man, maybe even a great one!

WE WILL NEVER FORGET

Ten years ago today, I was home from work with an "iffy" tummy and had gone into the living room to sip a cup of herbal tea, something I only drink when I'm feeling punk. I turned on the television and watched with my mouth hanging open what was happening in New York City. I watched in horror throughout the day, cried a lot and worried a lot about my sister who was, at the time of the attack on the Pentagon, en route into D.C. for work and, as it happened, at the Crystal City train stop just as the planes hit! It was several hours before I could ascertain that she was okay.

As the day went by, I watched in amazement as the formerly uber-partisan Congress acted like patriots and supported our President wholeheartedly, if only for a short while. I thanked God multiple times that Albert Gore, Jr. had lost the Florida recount and thanked God for the blessing of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney heading the Executive Branch.

I listened in amazement at some of the truly stupid comments made - such as Rosie O'Donnell's assertion that it was the "first time in history" that fire had melted metal - an utterance that would have astonished my late grandfather who worked in the Carnegie Steelworks in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! The boundless reach of celebrity stupidity still amazes me, and you have to remember, I was a lot younger then - only 59 years old!

I continue to consider this the greatest nation on earth and I still mourn the loss of those3,000 souls on the planes and in the buildings and in the field in Shanksville. I still have a vivid memory of the oft-maligned, but still magnificent, Donald Rumsfeld rolling up his sleeves and helping to evacuate the injured from the Pentagon. We frequently failed to appreciate this exceptional man.

As the ceremony in New York looms, I continue to be completely flummoxed by Mayor Bloomberg's decision, facilitated in large part by the mainstream media's silence on the matter, to exclude First Responders and Clergy from the program! You stupid, stupid man, one who will be remembered as an overly interfering proponent of the nanny state and the ham-handed moronic planning you espoused and permitted! Dumbshit! Bloomberg, you may be rich and you may be the Mayor of New York but you aren't Rudy Giuliani and you never will be!

There were some egregious villains involved in the 9/11 attacks but many marvelous and praiseworthy heroes who were little noted and who shunned that notice pretty thoroughly. Their humility and heroism is duly noted by the Ultimate Judge whose presence is apparently not required at the remembrance in New York. And Who, Mayor Bloomberg, is responsible for the fact that the death toll wasn't higher? Who, dummy, who?

Shit, I've lived too long and grieved too much. But my young friend Jillian put it best at the age of 2 when on 9/11/01 she opined that someone should do something to those people "who broke our stuff"! A patriot in the making, that one. At 12 she is incredible and I love her. So happy birthday doll girl. I love you very much.

DOUBLING DOWN ON INCOMPETENCE

In Thursday night's speech to the U.S. Congress, President Obama did not disappoint in at least one respect, he is still, and everlastingly, in campaign mode. The man has no idea how to govern, thus he goes to his fallback position, campaigning for undeserved reelection.

His speech was disingenuous in the extreme, condescending and warmly received by his fellow Democrats while John Boehner sat unsmiling behind him as the President attempted unsuccessfully to throw the entire Republican Party under the bus. There was one small deviation from same-old, same-old. As one wag put it, "at least he didn't blame President Bush for all our problems". This was, indeed, refreshing. And in point of fact, there were a few kernels of possible actions by the Congress that both precisely duplicate suggestions that have been pushed by Republicans in prior years and are a possible basis for compromise. Although, the dud who occupies the Oval Office made it quite clear that his vassals in the U.S. Congress are to give him his jobs bill just as he has proposed it - right, like THAT is going to happen!

He stuck to his everlasting refrain - class warfare - although he attempted to present it in such a way that we wouldn't "catch on" to his duplicity. Barry Soetero, buy a vowel. We've heard it all before on numerous occasions and we stopped buying your flimflam a long, long time ago.

Most particularly, The Won was demanding and arrogant - ordering the Congress to "Pass it now!" as though the representatives of We the People were only there to do his bidding. This is especially galling since he has claimed in the past to be a Constitutional Law professor (he wasn't) thus one would think that at least he would know that the Executive Branch is only one of three co-equal branches of the U.S. government. Those Congressmen and Senators who were in attendance are not his vassals, any more than are We the People.

All in all, it was tedious in the extreme to watch thinly disguised attempts to raise taxes and maintain out-of-control spending being espoused by a president who doesn't know what in the hell he is doing, is incapable of and unwilling to learn how to govern, and while claiming extreme patriotism, is doing everything in his power to destroy our Constitution, our liberties and our way of life for his own and his master's (Soros) twisted ends!

DANCING WITH THE STARS - NEW CAST

I will be supporting two of the members of the cast with enormous enthusiasm when the new show begins.

I have enormous respect and admiration for J.R. Martinez who is an Iraq veteran and who sustained horrendous wounds in service to our country. Despite his scarred face, All My Children cast him in the role of Brot, a similarly wounded war veteran and he is currently an integral part of the show and involved in a very steamy on-screen romance with an absolutely gorgeous actress. After watching his moving and sensitive performances over the couple of years he's been on the show, I have to remind myself that he has facial scarring, he is just that good an actor. So if the lad can move at all - he's got my vote.

My other fave is Carson Kressley who is a genuinely nice young man and a talented athlete. His show Carson Nation showcases his compassion and kindness toward others in difficult circumstances, while having seen tapes of his equestrian exploits has generated genuine respect from me.

My outside candidate would be Nancy Grace who seems to be displaying some serious self-deprecating humor. She's no sylph and she is controversial to the point of occasionally being annoying, but I think she is one tough female who can hang in there with the best of them.

Chaz Bono? Puh-leeze. Get that lumbering self-promoter off as soon as possible!

DON'T SCREW WITH MOTHER NATURE!

First, there was the earthquake on Tuesday which, while West Coast residents may decry us East Coast denizens as a bunch of "bedwetters" was severe enough to even shake up an old hand like me! It lasted longer than the average earthquake and was of a different sort than any I experienced in 20 years living in California. Different composition of the land mass to begin with. We've got rocks; they've got liquid! And the damage turned out to be pretty severe in some places due to the fact that we don't expect earthquakes and we don't build for them! So the National Cathedral and the Washington monument both sustained significant damage.

And now, on the anniversary of what would be my mother Irene's 95th birthday, here comes her hurricane. I'm just weird enough to believe that a hurricane named after my beloved later mother will not hurt me or mine but I'm still prepared. Letting the cats have one last (for today) romp on the deck and then we're buttoning down. Hard-wired land line connected, cell phone recharged, battery powered lamp charging - life is good! And thanks to my persistent sister, I have enough t.p., water and milk to ride out anything!

Hope y'all are safe and secure. Take good care.

WATCHING AN ENTIRE TV NETWORK IN
FULL PANIC MODE!

ABC Television, both daytime and nighttime, is operating in visibly full panic mode. Why, you may ask? Because of losing Oprah Winfrey after 25 years of having a human cash register on your schedule.

First, they cancel two beloved soap operas. And before that, they had already announced they are shutting down their SoapNet Network so how much do they care about us, the fans? Had they thrown the quantity of advertising at these two daytime staples that they are now throwing at their despicable The View and the new shows The Chew and Anderson Cooper's new show in Oprah's old spot, both All My Children and One Life to Live would not be in any danger of ever being canceled. Neither show appears to be worth watching, and in fact, so visceral is my dislike for Mario Batali that even the delicious Michael Symon cannot tempt me to watch The Chew. In fact, other than watching Castle in the evening, I fully intend to boycott ABC-TV entirely. Why? Shows like Charlie's Angels and Pan Am appear to be thoroughly forgettable programs and I won't even discuss how awful I suspect Playboy will be! NBC appears to have some decent programming coming up as does CBS. More and more, however, I find myself enjoying TNT and other smaller networks like ION. I also have HBO, Showtime and Starz so why do I need to watch a network that offends and disgusts me? Biased, blatantly slanted news coverage? The despicable left-wing broadcasting of The View? Hell, I might as well subscribe to the New York Times! Thanks, but no thanks!

It's high time we start making it known to these networks how little they are offering us in the form of decent programming and how offended we are by their shoddy, blatantly pandering to the left bias.

If the news division of ABC had shown half the diligence in investigating Candidate Obama, we wouldn't have that p.o.s. sitting in the White House right now! So what have they done to attract our patronage, secure our loyalty and/or interest? Absolutely freaking nothing!

MAXINE WATERS JUMPS THE SHARK!

The endlessly corrupt and unlikable Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Delusion) has spoken out about 3+ million of her fellow citizens, thus:

“I’m not afraid of anybody,” the California congresswoman told constituents in footage that appeared on ABC affiliate KABC in Los Angeles, not backing down from comments made about President Obama earlier in the week. “This is a tough game. You can’t be intimidated. You can’t be frightened. And as far as I’m concerned — the tea party can go straight to hell.”

Now that you have defined your own future afterlife, Madam Waters, why don't you practice some of the civility your party is always talking about and seldom practicing? To be treated with civility, one must treat others in like manner - something you have consistently failed to do. And when the New York Times begins investigating your financial dealings and those of your husband, not to mention your pal in corruption Barney Frank, then we will see what we will see and find out who "can go straight to hell." If your skirts are clean, then you can run your foul and nasty mouth and not until, madam!

BEARS REPEATING - RIGHT NOW!

Just listen to this and enjoy but also bear it in mind. Do not think for one minute that we can afford to keep that pinhead in the White House in office for one second beyond 12 noon on January 20, 2013! He is by far the most inept and destructive, thoroughly incompetent slacker to ever occupy the Oval Office and for our own sakes, must be only a one-term President!

COMMENTS ON A LIFE ENJOYABLY LIVED

Especially in the past few months! No need to go schlepping up I-95 to D.C. to work. Mainly just sitting around the house, enjoying the always excellent company of Buddy and Rusty and generally trying to survive the uber hot summer and get through to more pleasant temperatures.

It all made me ponder how little of this kind of comfort our grandkids (well YOUR grandkids - I have no children so it doesn't actually apply to me) are going to experience. They are probably going to have to continue working until they're in their 90s. Then again, what with Madame Michelle "Do as I say, not as I do" Obama designing their school menus, they'll be enjoying it less! A lot less. According to the young people I've spoken to, school lunches have become uneatable in many schools. No salt is permitted, no pepper, no condiments of any kind. The food is unseasoned and tasteless! I know it's a foreign concept but food that is well seasoned is not necessarily unhealthy, particularly if you utilize a lot of fresh herbs and use a lot of lemon juice to remove the need for excessive salting. But then again, liberals are all in favor of ascetic behaviors as long as THEY don't have to participate in them! Hypocritical knuckleheads, the lot of them. A bunch of humorless, joyless harridans preaching their holier-than-thou version of living to people who actually find pleasure in the company of their children, feeling no need to ship them off to boarding schools, enjoy a healthy meal, well prepared and live in homes that reflect their history and interests. Why don't they just leave us alone? Because it looks to them like we're having too much fun, folks! And then of course there's the creeping influence of sharia law in this country, just as it continues to infect every other so-called civilized European nation. Now Norway is feeling the brunt of it. When will it stop? When we FORCE it to stop.

The cowardly liberal minority in this country is terrified that their sterile, self-centered little lives will be threatened or disturbed by actually having to do something to defend and/or protect our way of life. They will lie down for Islamic attempts at destroying our nation's Constitution and way of life until it's too late. We must do everything in our power to offset their slothful cowering!

DELIVER US FROM SNOOKIE!

Of all the things I can find to exemplify the problems in our nation, this drunken little troll is #1 on the list!

She dresses like a hooker, behaves like a juvenile terrorist and is far from attractive to look at! She has no class, no manners and has become famous due to bad behavior. And this is someone fawned over by the entertainment media! Do we no longer have standards of the kinds of behavior that will be tolerated? Remember when Ingrid Bergman was banned from Hollywood for having an out-of-wedlock child with her Italian director lover? Now out-of-wedlock children are littering the landscape and celebrities seem to think it's okay to birth a litter of children ala Angelina Jolie without repercussions! In fact. she is fawned over rather than being treated like a pariah! Steal another woman's husband? Sure, that's okay. After all, she's beautiful! No, no, that is not acceptable behavior! Furthermore, what is our tolerance of this behavior telling our children? The stability of a strong marital bond is something to be encouraged, not endlessly dissed on reality TV and elsewhere. There are some knuckleheads in Hollywood who still defend the infamous pervert Roman Polanski and still patronize Woody Allen films. Put your entertainment dollars to better use people!

Marriage isn't the panacea. It's damned hard work. I've never entered into the state myself because I know myself well enough to know that I would choose badly. My mother labored mightily to preserve her marriage to my father, despite his alcoholism, and I watched it kill her before her time. But then again, neither do I have CHILDREN. Bringing a child into the world isn't a cure for loneliness or depression or mental illness. It's a commitment to being strong and dependable and responsible above all. Your children don't need a buddy, they need two parents and a father is not an optional part of that mix, he's an essential component. The fact that you can have a baby on your own does not mean that you should!

Those we admire should deserve that attention, rather than being famous for being famous. There are enough slutty looking Snookie types out there. We shouldn't be celebrating them but rather marginalizing them for what they are - human garbage!

MUST READ OF THE WEEKEND

The ever insightful and brilliant GM Roper has an excellent post up that is a must read. It is entitled "Pictoral History of a Failed Presidency" and is a graphic and totally readable history of that worthless knucklehead infecting our presidency at the present time! Please do feel free to cut over to GM's site at any time for worthwhile reading!
