THE SO-CALLED LEADERSHIP IN THE U.S. CONGRESS
and why it’s frightening me and should be frightening you!

For the first time in my lifetime, the U.S. Congress is starting to make this nation look like a banana republic, under the thumb of a mostly incompetent, frequently insane, megalomaniac dictatorship.

Nancy Pelosi declared herself “the most powerful woman in the world” when she became House Speaker this past January. Somehow, I have a feeling that at least one of the ACTUAL heads of state would disagree with her. For example, all of the following are truly HEADS OF STATE and were elected by their ENTIRE nation, not just one leftwing district of San Francisco:

President Borjana Kristo, Federation of Bosnia (Bosnia-Hercegovina)
President of the Confederation Micheline Calmy-Rey, Switzerland
Minister-President Emily de Jongh-Elhage, Nederlandse Antillen (Self-governing Part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands)
Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller, Jamaica
Executive President Michelle Bachelet Jeria, Chile
Executive President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, Liberia
President of the Sameting/Sámediggi Aili Keskitalo in Norway
Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, Germany

Both Speaker Pelosi and Senator Harry Reid can only be described as running amok. They promised the most ethical Congress on record and immediately began planning copious pork barrel projects (neatly tucked away whenever possible in bills purportedly providing funding to our troops in harm’s way and then squealing like stuck pigs when the President – rightly – vetoed their dishonest and seditious legislation).

The latest ploy is Speaker Pelosi’s decision to revoke minority rights:

After losing a string of embarrassing votes on the House floor because of procedural maneuvering, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has decided to change the current House Rules to completely shut down the floor to the minority.

This happened today after the Democrats changed a rule to prevent Republicans from offering a motion to recommit on the PAYGO provisions of their legislation. The bottom line: Democrats don’t want their members to have to vote on the tax increases that they are trying to slide into bills, and Republican motions-to-commit put them in the awkward position of having to actually cast those votes and go on the record.

So the Democrats want to do what Democrats do – they just don’t want to be caught doing it? How straightforward on their parts.

I have said before that Nancy Pelosi is an incompetent buffoon and I’m not backing down from that – I’m just adding the word dangerous to that description. The rules of the House are there to protect the Minority from the tyranny of the Majority. But Nancy Pelosi is in charge now, and the Rules are being eliminated. You do the math

Here’s a clue, Mrs. Pelosi: Your district in San Francisco, from which YOU were elected, is probably roughly the size and population of the district from which MY Representative Pat Tiberi was elected. Which means, you aren’t that damned special, lady! You are one among many and you need to throttle back on your insane ego-trips and dictatorial behaviors. Running roughshod over the other party is NOT the road to bipartisanship, you wretched crone. Nor is it behavior calculated to lead to a continued Democratic Party majority after the 2008 election. Nor will it help to elevate any Democrat to the White House.

Maybe I shouldn't warn you though. If you keep on going as you are now, you and your pals will be the catalyst for the largest repudiation by the voters of a majority party in the history of American politics. Assuming that our Republic can survive the next 18 months!
