YES!

In a WorldNetDaily exclusive, it appears that Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani is preparing to file suit against that despicable and senile old fart, Rep. John Murtha, as well as sycophantic mainstream moron, Tim McGuirk of Time Magazine. Good going, Sir!

It’s about damned time that these blithering idiots in the U.S. Congress were held to account when they commit wanton defamation and slander against members of the U.S. military, particularly since their motives are generally less than honorable. And Rep. Murtha’s prior military service does not exempt him from observing U.S. law as it applies to these kinds of calumnies. Ignorance is no excuse either!

Loose (and dishonest) lips do more than sink ships, they dishonor our brave and selfless military and do enormous harm to our nation’s reputation and standing in the real world – which is a realm unknown to and uninhabited by the plethora of mental midgets in both houses of the U.S. Congress – whose disapproval rating is now hovering at around 80%. And these bozos have the brass cojones to criticize President Bush?

A GOOD REASON TO VOTE FOR
SENATOR JOHN McCAIN

The dear man isn't an attorney!

Do I make a good point or what?

THE AP FLAP

The Associated Press honchos seem to have their panties in a twist over the fact that occasionally bloggers quote their stories in their blog posts. They now propose to charge bloggers for the use of excerpts from AP stories. Unfortunately, the Associated Press (once a respected news gathering organization) has only published their rates for non-fiction quotes. Since most of what the Associated Press purveys these days is almost exclusively in the realm of fiction, we are still awaiting the listing of those costs!

SENATOR OBAMA'S OIL POLICY

Once again, a blatant and rather dazzling display of ignorance emanates from the mouth of his royal majesty, the Democratic Party nominee presumptive who says that drilling isn't the answer to our fuel costs as it would take 5 years to help bring down the cost of fuel.

His answer, which “will bring immediate change”, is a windfall profits tax on oil companies. Of course, the additional tax will be passed on to us in the form of basic costs but Senator Obama probably either hasn’t figured out that basic economic fact, or he thinks we are too stupid to do so!

Note to Senator Obama: It will not take 5 years to bring down the cost of fuel, because the current cost of fuel is being driven UP by speculators around the world, not by anything our nation is or is not doing. This is a typical leftwing meme: claim that the common sense solution to a problem will take too long and our memories are too short. Not so fast, you incompetent huckster – the American people are a whole lot smarter than you even begin to believe and we’re a whole lot better informed thanks to the Worldwide Web.

The mere fact that we are drilling off our own shores (as opposed to China and other nations who are already doing so) and that we are energetically being who we are and seeking to solve our own problems without reference to “letting the government do it” (which is a trifling way to think and behave) will send a strong message to speculators that we are through letting them screw around with our economy.

I swear - what WERE the Dems thinking? I'm no fan of Hillary's as you know, but compared to this incredible dimwit, she's a true rocket scientist!

CONTROVERSIAL ACCUSATIONS!

Is Barack Hussein Obama actually even a native-born American citizen? The rumblings have been growing ever since he apparently assured himself of the Democratic Party nomination for President.

Barack Obama was born in Hawaii of an underage American mother and a Kenyan father. Although a record of his birth is available on the Web, it is also apparently true that his birth was registered in Mombassa Kenya! Furthermore, his mother's 2nd marriage to an Indonesian man, caused the family's relocation to Indonesia. Did his mother's 2nd [Muslim] husband adopt Barack Hussein Obama? And by so doing, did he invalidate his new son's American citizenship. Some of the point made are that (1) his mother couldn't pass on her native-born American citizenship to young Barack simply because she was a minor at the time of his birth; (2) regardless of where Senator Obama was actually born, due to his Kenyan father and the fact of his birth being registered in Mombassa, Obama's claim to citizenship is on shaky ground. It is further alleged that, because Barack's mother married an Indonesian Muslim who then, allegedly, adopted Barack Obama that she effectively surrendered her son's citizenship.

To me it's all murky and defies logic on a number of levels.

What's the intelligence emanating from the blogsphere? Is he real or is he Memorex?

UPDATE: I asked the most intelligent (and Republican) attorney I know about this and here's his response:
My thought is that whoever thinks these up has way too much time on their hands. If he was born on American soil, why is not that the end of the matter?
Case closed!

THE MOST BORING MAN IN AMERICA REEMERGES!

Gore endorses Obama and attacks Bush in Detroit

Jun 16, 10:32 PM (ET)
By NEDRA PICKLER

DETROIT (AP) - Al Gore made his debut in the 2008 presidential campaign Monday night, encouraging voters to back Barack Obama because "take it from me, elections matter."

Rumors have been flying that Gore will be Obama’s pick for vice president. Given all the truly horrendous choices of associates made by Bambi in his lifetime, why disrupt his pattern? Choosing old pauncho village idiot would be at least as smart as hanging out with Rev. Wright for 20 years!

Given the rapidity with which highly credible information is surfacing which refutes the global warming fantasies of our favorite mincing ex-vice-president, this is another minefield Senator Obama would do well to avoid. However, he seems intent on preventing John McCain’s loss in November, and we do all wish him well with that plan!

Incompetent!

IT'S FRIDAY THE 13TH AND
ALL'S WELL!

Well, maybe not entirely. As some of you may have heard on your local news, the District has been plagued all this week by a series of problems on the Metro transportation system. Monday and Tuesday of this week, the Orange line which runs from the District out to Vienna, Virginia had track problems, which led to me overhearing what may be one of the more hilarious exchanges in a long time:

Her: It seems like the Metro is always having problems around Courthouse station.

Him: At least this week.

Her: Well, they should just close that station!

Me: (HUH?)

And no she wasn't a blonde!

Wednesday, the Orange line had some kind of kinks again and then yesterday, just to keep it interesting, the Red line developed problems.

This morning as I tried to cross 12th and F Streets to get to the Metro Center station for my trip from the car pool drop off to my office, I noticed (it was hard not to) that the traffic signals were out. This is a VERY busy intersection and it took some fancy footwork to get across. I finally got behind a very LARGE man (had to be an ex-football player) and scurried in his wake! Got down into the Metro and there were some "issues" with the visibility and then I heard the announcement that there had been an electrical fire on the tracks in Metro Center which necessitated turning off the power - power which was now being restored in increments.

But the best fun was when I got to McPherson Station to get off the train - NO lights to speak of and, worse yet, the escalators and elevator were not working at all! Now bear in mind that I am 66 years old and have arthritis in the bottom 6 vertebrae of my spine and my left knee. I am very proud to report that I did make it up 63 steps from underground to the ground level. After I stopped a moment to catch my breath, I proceeded around the corner heading toward my office building. That's when I realized that in front of the office building next door to the one where I work, there were a LOT of people standing out in front. Seems the power was out in the entire area. I kept going toward my building, sure that there was no way I'd be going to work. Lo and behold - WE had power so I got gratefully onto the elevator and rode up to my 10th floor office. Apparently one of the local power companies was having a rolling brownout - just to complicate our lives.

Do I still consider Friday the 13th lucky? You bet I do. I'm here, I'm alive, I was on time for work and it IS, after all, FRIDAY!

Have a great weekend.

POSITIVE NEWS!

My friend Joyce's husband Mark appears to be in remission. X-rays of the brain tumor reveal no new tumor growth (he was diagnosed in February with what appears to be the same type of tumor afflicting Senator Kennedy). Mark has been through a lot since the diagnosis, including surgery to remove an enormous brain tumor, plus chemo and radiation treatment. He is now on a regimen of chemo once per month for 5 days, an MRI every third month. His taste buds have started working again. When they returned from the doctor appointment on Tuesday, he expressed an intention of mowing the lawn. Joyce's response was: "Not with 2 broken legs, which is what you will have if you try!" since the doctors had made it clear that he was to avoid exceedingly hot days (which Tuesday certainly was).

To all of you who prayed for Mark and for his family's well being during this highly difficult period, know that a continuation of those prayers is still needed, since Mark isn't cured. However, his quality of life would seem to be something that has improved considerably and should continue for an appreciable period of time. Total cure, probably not in the cards, however, his health has at least improved enough that he can enjoy his life and his family for an as yet unspecified period of time and that's a blessing - and being greedy on their behalf, I hope it is for a very, very long time! So thank you for the prayers already offered and those yet to come. They are a lovely bunch of people and deserve our best wishes.

MAKING THE WORLD A LITTLE SAFER FOR TERRORISTS!

If you had no other reason for voting for John McCain, this would be reason enough:

In its third rebuke of the Bush administration's treatment of prisoners, the court ruled 5-4 that the government is violating the rights of prisoners being held indefinitely and without charges at the U.S. naval base in Cuba. The court's liberal justices were in the majority. (emphasis mine)

It is conceivable that the next President will get to nominate as many as 3 justices to SCOTUS. Do we really want the Supreme Court to be remade in the image of Barack Hussein Obama? Doesn't this nation have enough challenges?

And while we're at it: What part of "they want to kill us" do liberals not understand?

IF YOU READ NOTHING ELSE ONLINE TODAY!

You must go to The Anchoress and read her brilliantly written, amazing smackdown of the latest filing of articles of impeachment (Dennis Kucinich, who else?) against our President. She also lists all the trifling reasons given by Joy Behar (now there's a rock scientist for you) and then shoots them down in flames one by one.

I agree with our friend The Anchoress - I think we should encourage the moonbats to do this so that once and for all, on the record, these idiots are shown for the asinine poseurs they really are!

NEW WEAPON TO DEBILITATE RIOTERS
AT DEM CONVENTION?

Those "men of the people" are rumored to be planning the use of a new weapon to control protesters in Denver at the Democratic Convention:

Political activists planning protest rallies at the upcoming Democratic Convention in Denver have their stomachs in knots over a rumor about a crowd control weapon - known as the “crap cannon” - that might be unleashed against them.

Also called “Brown Note,” it is believed to be an infrasound frequency that debilitates a person by making them defecate involuntarily.

In other words, this new weapon pretty much releases the bowels of those within its reach!

My question (based on having been on the periphery of other demonstrations such as the ones being planned for Denver) is "How would you know?" I remember the 1968 protests that are apparently slated for recreation in Denver. Good hygiene was not a significant concern of those protesters, and I very much doubt much will have changed!

IS IT REALLY OVER?

Barack Hussein Obama, the most singularly unqualified candidate for the presidency ever to be nominated by a major political party (assuming of course that it actually happens) appears to be "home free" for the nomination. Although I must say, BHO may have the nomination sewn up, but it was Hillary Rodham Clinton who dominated the news cycle over the weekend. HE may have won, but SHE got all the attention. This is definitely something he needs to consider, should he even have the remotest notion of putting her on the ticket.

And no, I am not racist. Barack Hussein Obama would be unqualified to serve as POTUS regardless of skin color. It's his IDEAS that are offensive, not the color of his skin. It is the lack of content in his character, not the color of his skin, that disqualifies him. It is a well known convention that you are known by the company you keep. On that basis alone (Rezko, Wright, Ayers, Dohrn, et al.), Senator Obama should hang his head in shame and scurry off the national stage sooner rather than later.

Why in the name of all that is holy do so few people seem to realize what a utter and complete humbug the man really is?

And why is it I keep hearing the theme song from "JAWS"!?

IS THERE AN APOLOGY FORTHCOMING?
Probably not!
AUGUST SURPRISE?

To anyone who honestly believes that Hillary Clinton's quest for the 2008 Presidential nomination is over, not just yet, I think!

In the first place, how dare anyone tell a candidate who has nearly 1,900 delegates that it is time for her to fold up her tent and quietly disappear? It is arrogant, it is dismissive, it is disrespectful. Furthermore, the Democratic Convention isn't until August - and a lot can happen in the interval - especially when the Clintons are involved. I fully intend to wait quietly for whatever disaster the Clintons are planning to drop on Obama and company in late July, early August.

I'm sure that Hillary and Bill will appear to go dormant, at least for a short while. But I still believe that somehow, some way, this saga isn't entirely over.

If, in fact, Barack Hussein Obama is the nominee of the Democratic Party, I sincerely hope that he isn't stupid enough to select Hillary Rodham Clinton as his running mate. I see no "up" side for her either. Should she accept the #2 spot on the ticket, and should (as is likely) Obama lose the general election, she goes down with him and it's a permanent disaster. If she isn't on the ticket, she's good to go in 2012, because even if Obama were to win (which I still say is unlikely to happen), he would be such an incredible disaster as president that he would be unable to secure a second term - leaving the door wide open for her to make a second try.

Think about it: Senator Obama is the presumptive nominee as of close of business on Tuesday. Who is getting all the media coverage? Senator Clinton, of course. No, folks, this thing isn't anywhere near over!

EXHAUSTED AND SOGGY THURSDAY

After experiencing a series of tornados, massive thunderstorms, power outages and all around destruction and mayhem last night (in Stafford, Virginia), my ability to come up with a decent post for today is less than zero. Sam the Wonder Cat and I are pretty doggone tired, but also fortunate since there was very little damage to our cozy little home, despite an anxious night with no phone service and no electrical power. All is now restored and I am getting through the day here at work as best I can - until I can go home tonight and get some rest!

However, Laura Lee at the Wide Awake Cafe has an excellent analysis of Obama's acceptance speech that is well worth reading.

So without further ado, here it it.

OBAMA SEEMS TO HAVE THE NOMINATION

(Or Does He?)

My question is: Why are Pelosi, Reid and “Mr. Temperate” Howard Dean so fervent about setting a Friday, June 6th deadline for “superdelegates” to declare themselves. What’s up with that? Could there be some truth to the rumors that there is a tape in existence that has Michelle Obama making some (even more) offensive comments that include the word “whitey”? Wonder how much it cost Hillary to get her hands on that little gem! If, in fact, it's true. And once those superdelegates have said they will vote for Obama, what is to prevent them from changing their minds? Inquiring me wants to know.

Why watch soap operas (sorry, daytime dramas) when you can observe the Democrats at work and play? Except of course that the soap operas are far more intelligent and well acted.

Just my opinion.

THE END OF THE CLINTON DYNASTY?

From Hillary Clinton’s standpoint, a number of things can occur over the next few days – none of them particularly good. She could withdraw from the race and put her presidential aspirations on a shelf somewhere, at least for the next 4 years or (possibly) forever.

Barack Hussein Obama appears to be poised (barring unforeseen last minute bombshells, some of which are already rumored to be imminent) to take the Democratic nomination for the presidency. He also, if God be good, will lose the election resoundingly to Senator John McCain who, while far from perfect, is demonstrably more qualified to serve as our President. Let’s just be blunt about this: Barack Hussein Obama would be Jimmy Carter redux and most of our current international and domestic problems can be laid at the feet of the first Jimmy Carter administration! We do not – repeat do not – need a do over!

Senator Obama could pick Senator Clinton as his vice presidential running mate. From his standpoint, there is absolutely no up side to that idea! First of all, throughout the campaign, Bill Clinton would be sucking the air out of every room into which he walked, never mind the incredible quantities of baggage both the Clintons carry with them and that’s just the known baggage. Knowing William Jefferson Clinton as we all do, does anyone doubt that we haven’t even scratched the sleazy surface? Secondly, it may be non p.c. to say and it may even be slightly (very slightly) unfair, but if I were Senator Obama, with Senator Clinton as my running mate, I would SLEEP in Kevlar BVDs.

The likelihood is that Senator Obama will lose – and lose big! John McCain has been dealing with arrogant pups like the Senator for many, many years and he can squash his pretensions of competence without breaking a sweat. If, as I suspect, this happens – that’s the end of Senator Obama – for good. If Hillary is his running mate, that’s the end of her as well. If, however, she gracefully declines the offer, she’s good to go for 2012 which is, due to her age, pretty much her last chance, assuming she could scratch out the nomination, which now no longer looks like it will happen in 2012 without another bruising battle. She has lost her aura of inevitability for good.

The Democrats, so-called party of the little guy, have shot themselves in the foot on many levels. First of all, the sheer length of this primary campaign has exhausted voters on all sides of the political spectrum. Put bluntly – we’re sick of y’all! Then the totalitarian dictates of the National Party in telling various state party bigwigs when the primary should be held ended up disenfranchising voters in both Florida and Michigan. Why? So demigod HoHo Dean could boost his nonexistent manliness? Horse hockey! This was the party that just a little over 7 years ago was bleating that “every vote must count” (preferably 2 or 3 times) even after it was repeatedly proven that yes, indeed, George W. Bush DID WIN the State of Florida! What hypocritical poseurs these Dems have become. This is not, I repeat NOT, the Democratic Party I grew up with. Not even close.

Another question – these “super delegates” that have been discussed so much? Why is it that they are not forced to support the candidate who won their state, at least on the first ballot. In other words, say Mrs. Clinton won a state with 60% of the vote. Shouldn’t 60% of the super delegates also be hers? And how non-representational are these super delegates anyway? Sounds like totalitarian elitism to me.

I have long believed and frequently opined that for this country’s health, both national political parties should be vibrant, healthy and, above all, inclusive of all citizens of this nation. This really is no longer the case. George Soros and his ilk have hijacked the Democratic Party, despite being a real (but very noisy and well financed) minority. Nobody seems to be worried about this, but I honestly believe that we should all be concerned. George Soros wants to achieve by stealth and manipulation that which he cannot ever obtain legally. He is not a native born U.S. citizen so his only hope of achieving some sort of dictatorship over the future of this country is through surrogates – wholly owned surrogates. Is Barack Hussein Obama one of them? The remote possibility is yet another reason that Senator Obama must never be POTUS.

UPSET WITH REVEREND MICHAEL PHLEGER?

This purported priest, guest speaker at Barack Obama's former church in Chicago, mouthed many, if not all, of the offensive statements frequently credited to Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

First question: What is a Catholic priest doing participating in a non-Catholic worship service? We, the faithful, are forbidden to do so, how is a priest any different?

Second question: Why is the Diocese of Chicago not reining in this hoss of peculiar mindset in expeditious fashion?

To that end, I have written a letter requesting illumination from the Diocese of Chicago. Here is the address, should you'd like to do so as well - always remember to be respectful and non-combative in your tone as much as possible (although I must admit to calling the Rev. Phleger a jerk):

Very Rev. John Canary
Vicar General Archdiocese of Chicago
155 E. Superior Street
Chicago, IL 60611

FOR THE RECORD: As I do not accept Hagee's apology, neither do I accept or believe that of Rev. Phleger. You cannot unring a bell and you cannot unsay vicious and provoking words! As to Barack Hussein Obama now resigning his membership - does anyone with a functioning brain cell believe this was anything other than a purely political, utterly cynical ploy?

Yeah, me neither.

UPDATE 6/4/08: The Cardinal Archbishop of Chicago has ordered Rev. Phleger suspended pending investigation and further notice.

PRAY FOR SENATOR EDWARD MOORE KENNEDY TODAY

As I write this, Senator Kennedy is undergoing very delicate surgery at Duke University's world-class medical facility. Many things can result from this surgery, most of them not terribly good. He could lose the ability to walk or talk - or both. He very likely (depending on the location of the tumor) will lose some short term memory. He may lose his sense of taste. One thing is certain and that is that it is unlikely that the surgeons will be able to remove all of the tumor. It is probable that what my sister calls "radioactive communion wafers" will be left behind after the surgery to begin the task of killing as many of the remaining cancer cells as possible. It appears that, as in the case of my friend Joyce's husband, the brain tumor is a primary site tumor. This is not good. It means that it is highly likely (close to inevitable) that the cancer will return. To delay that occurrence, Senator Kennedy will have to undergo chemotherapy and radiation simultaneously. The famous Kennedy mane of hair is a probable casualty - at least temporarily. So what I am saying is that the Senator and his family need all of our prayers. I don't give a rat's eardrum what your political differences are with Senator Kennedy, this is an absolutely horrible disease and his prognosis is, to say the least, far from good. My best guess is that he will have, with the best of care and the best possible outcome today, between 18 months and 3 years to live, although for the sake of his family, I would hope it is more.

May God shine his light upon him, now and for the rest of his life.

UPDATE: Senator Kennedy apparently came through the surgery in great shape. A general anesthesia wasn't used and the Senator (true to form) came out of surgery talking! Good for him. Continued positive progress, Senator, with God's help and all of our prayers.

YOU GO SENATOR!

I recently met Bob Dole for the first time. He is a delightful and witty man and I must admit that, as cynical as I usually am about politicians - he dazzled me. Now confirmation of how smart the Senator continues to be, he has sent off this email to Scott McClellan (and I LOVE it):

Scott,

There are miserable creatures like you in every administration who don't have the guts to speak up or quit if there are disagreements with the boss or colleagues. No, your type soaks up the benefits of power, revels in the limelight for years, then quits, and spurred on by greed, cashes in with a scathing critique.

In my nearly 36 years of public service I've known of a few like you. No doubt you will "clean up" as the liberal anti-Bush press will promote your belated concerns with wild enthusiasm. When the money starts rolling in you should donate it to a worthy cause, something like, "Biting The Hand That Fed Me." Another thought is to weasel your way back into the White House if a Democrat is elected. That would provide a good set up for a second book deal in a few years.

I have no intention of reading your "exposé" because if all these awful things were happening, and perhaps some may have been, you should have spoken up publicly like a man, or quit your cushy, high profile job. That would have taken integrity and courage but then you would have had credibility and your complaints could have been aired objectively. You're a hot ticket now but don't you, deep down, feel like a total ingrate?

BOB DOLE

Good going Senator Dole. You are an underappreciated treasure these days, aren't you?!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAM!

The marvelous Pam of Blogmeister, U.S.A. is turning 29 today! She is a good friend, a wonderful writer and an all around terrific person - so we should all celebrate that she is here among us, making a positive difference.

Happy birthday, dear lady!

SCOTT McCLELLAN IS AN EASILY
MANIPULATED DOOFUS!

Wexler: McClellan Must Testify Under Oath Before House Judiciary Committee
Former White House Aide's Revelations Make Out Case for Obstruction of Justice by Rove and Libby in Valerie Plame Case

(Washington, DC) Today Congressman Robert Wexler (D-FL) called for former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan to appear before the House Judiciary Committee to testify under oath regarding the devastating revelations made in his new book on the Bush Administration’s deliberate efforts to mislead the American people into the Iraq War.

“The admissions made by Scott McClellan in his new book are earth-shattering and allege facts to establish that Karl Rove and Scooter Libby – and possibly Vice President Cheney - conspired to obstruct justice by lying about their role in the Plame Wilson matter and that the Bush Administration deliberately lied to the American people in order to take us to war in Iraq. Scott McClellan must now appear before the House Judiciary Committee under oath to tell Congress and the American people how President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Scooter Libby, and White House officials deliberately orchestrated a massive propaganda campaign to sell the war in Iraq to the American people.”

This is – to put it bluntly – just so much self-serving bullshit by Wexler. For those with short memories, it has been well established that RICHARD ARMITAGE leaked Valerie Plame’s identity to Robert Novak. It is also well established that Ms. Plame was NOT an undercover operative. What about this is difficult to understand?

As to the other charges in McClellan’s book, let’s run this down:

Karl Rove and Scooter Libby worked right across the hall from each other and had mutual administrative concerns – so of course they conferred together frequently and about a lot of things. Co-workers talking to each other – now there’s a conspiracy for you! McClellan was absolutely detested and denigrated by the entire White House Press Corps because he’s a dunderhead! Now, suddenly they are canonizing him? After he writes a book that excoriates his former employer that is published by a company with demonstrable ties to George Soros? Anyone see a pattern here?

Was not Scott McClellan questioned by the powers-that-be during the investigation of the entire leak kerfuffle? So is he now admitting that he lied to those investigators then and is now telling the truth? Can you spell contempt of court?

McClellan was the press secretary – not a policy maker. As such, it is highly unlikely that he had access to anything even remotely relating to decisions to go to war in Iraq. Furthermore, he is already having problems keeping his story straight during his interviews on the air. In front of a Congressional Committee? He will make such a complete ass of himself that George Soros’ latest attempt to destroy the American Republic will fail – again.

Move along folks. Nothing to see here!

OUT OF THEIR OWN DISHONEST MOUTHS!

Americans will take time this Memorial Day to remember those who have given what Lincoln called "the full measure of devotion" to protect our freedoms, here in Washington it is politics as usual. And as someone whose paternal ancestors fought and died in every single conflict since the Revolutionary War, I am outraged, incensed and disgusted at what is going on. Furthermore, as someone whose maternal ancestors left a comfortable and secure life in Europe in search of better opportunity and stability here in this country and sacrificed their health, both physical and financial to provide the dream of liberty to their children, I am appalled.

Congress this week found time to reinterpret (incorrectly) the Constitution – which is not their job – and tried to slip a veto override onto a bill that had not even been passed by them before the President (rightly) vetoed it. Oops, sorry folks. Just another little bit of completely inept behavior from what has proven to be the most useless members in my (long) memory of the House of Representatives under the most completely incompetent Speaker of the House, Her Majesty Nancy Pelosi (D-Botox). Of course, Congress did find time to honor a college basketball team, Arnold Palmer, and Frank Sinatra but then went home for a two-week vacation without funding American troops in combat, putting even the paychecks of our soldiers in jeopardy.

That's bad enough, now this video surfaces in which Rep. Paul Kanjorski, a leading congressional liberal, admits that Democrats lied to the public on the War in Iraq to win control of Congress. If you are not outraged, there is something seriously wrong and you deserve the ineffective representation you are receiving.

Here’s the deal. THEY work for US. Despite their demonstrated beliefs to the contrary, WE are the employers of these clowns. And in the immortal words of Carrie Bradshaw, “There is nothing scarier than a clown!”

My suggestion – fire the bastards. Every last one of them is up for re-election in November. Haven’t we suffered enough?!

AH JEEZ, HARRY, SO AWFULLY
NOT SORRY!

Laura Litvan Wed May 21, 8:10 AM ET

May 21 (Bloomberg) -- Senator Edward Kennedy's brain cancer will, for now, deprive Democrats of one of their strongest legislative leaders and presidential candidate Barack Obama of his most iconic supporter.

So the ineffectual, big talking but essentially wussy Dems cannot make their agenda work without Senator Edward Moore Kennedy?

Gee guys, you must be really proud of yourselves, eh? You have a 51 to 49 "majority" but with Senators Obama and Clinton endlessly out on the road campaigning for another job, that says that the math comes down to 49-49. You can't always count on Senator Lieberman since he displays both brain and common sense almost all the time. And then there's Dick Cheney to break ties and given the foul untruthful rhetoric directed at him for many years by all y'all, of course he'd be all in a lather to help you out, right? Dream on.

Karma's a bitch, doncha think?

PROBABLY YOU SHOULD READ
THE ENTIRE SPEECH

"I have been fortunate to see the character of Israel up close. I have touched the Western Wall, seen the sun reflected in the Sea of Galilee, I have prayed at Yad Vashem. And earlier today, I visited Masada, an inspiring monument to courage and sacrifice. At this historic site, Israeli soldiers swear an oath: “Masada shall never fall again.” Citizens of Israel: Masada shall never fall again, and America will be at your side."

George W. Bush, President of the United States of America
Address to the Knesset on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary
of the Founding of the State of Israel

Unless, of course, Barack Hussein Obama is elected to succeed our great and good President Bush.
LEST ANYONE IS SHEDDING TEARS
FOR SENATOR KENNEDY'S
CURRENT HEALTH PROBLEMS

I would refer you to this post at the excellent Sweetness & Light blog for some illumination on what a good American Senator Edward Moore Kennedy is not!

UPDATE: We now know that Senator Edward Kennedy has brain cancer. And while I would wish nobody the kind of stress and pain that accompanies that diagnosis, particularly for the family, I cannot find it in my heart of hearts to wail for Senator Kennedy himself. I have a good friend whose husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor several months ago and the burden on the family is gigantic. So I will pray for Senator Kennedy's family as they shoulder this burden, but for Senator Kennedy himself, it's hard for me to muster a whole lot of sympathy, considering the lives he has damaged, ruined or just plain ended during his lifetime.

KEEP ON WHINING

"Some seem to believe we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along,” the President said to the country’s legislative body, “We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: ‘Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.’ We have an obligation to call this what it is –- the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history.” George W. Bush, May 15, 2008

Predictably, the left wingnuts in the Democratic Party are screaming like stuck pigs. No kiddies, this was not defamation of character, it was definition of lack of character – and you’ve proven GWB’s point by proclaiming that it is your own cowardly, seditious, un-American selves being described by our great and good President.

You ought to be ashamed of yourselves, but you haven’t even got the stones for that, do you? Bunch of whining infantile morons is what you are. And you actually think you are capable of running this country? Give me a flipping break!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

The always insightful Anchoress has some thoughts newly posted yesterday that are worth your time and attention. Among them:

No, I’m not bitter; I’m just tired of the nonsense; I’m tired of elected officials hog-tying America’s potential and capabilities for an unproven climate scam, I’m tired of a house and senate incapable of doing anything beyond spiting each other and obstructing any sort of change or progress on issues from energy, to education to social security to illegal (and legal) immigration. I’m tired of watching the nation simply roll over and accept the argument that the solution to anything is “more government and more bureaucracy” instead of simply rejecting that notion outright. I’m tired of being told that America wants and needs the sort of socialized medicine that is bringing supplemental-insurance purchasing Canadians down to the lower 48, and bringing Britain to her knees, rather than even attempting real-market reform, and I’m tired of not liking any of these candidates for president. It’s been a very long campaign season - it began right after the November ‘06 elections - and it has been dreadfully uninspiring. I want a do-over and all-new candidates, preferably none of whom are professional, career politicians. I know I can’t have it. But it’s what I want. I’m not bitter, but damn, I gotta tell you…I’m not happy, either.

I agree with every single word she writes, and in this case, she is saying what I have long thought, only in kinder terms than perhaps I would use!

LEFT-WING, ANTI-AMERICAN
S.O.B. FOR OBAMA!

BILL AYERS, FRIEND OF
BARACK!

Tuesday, May 13, 2008

BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA ISN’T THE ONLY ONE
WITH A “PASTOR PROBLEM”

From an article at Fox News election coverage, the following:
“Televangelist John Hagee, one of John McCain’s highest-profile supporters from the religious right, has apologized for calling the Roman Catholic Church “the great whore” and “the apostate church.”

In a letter Monday to Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Civil and Religious Rights, Hagee wrote, “I want to express my deep regret for any comments that Catholics have found hurtful.”
Hurtful? Hurtful? No, you ignorant buffoon, I found them insulting and infuriating, both a failure of logic and of intelligence. And I found your apology to be both insincere and politically motivated. You know you don’t mean one word of your apology. Vicious words such as the ones you uttered are not just some off the cuff example of “misspeaking” but rather a manifestation of a soul-deep bias.

The Catholic Church was been around for over 2,000 years. In that time, many John Hagee types have come - - and gone - - while the Catholic Church endures. And as a Catholic, I am insulted and offended and no, I do not accept your apology because it is insufficient and insincere and because some trifling apology does not take away in the slightest the illumination of your rather pathetic soul resulting from your ill-considered and stupid words. Pastor Hagee, the only thing you regret is that you were caught spouting your stupidities. Shame on you.

[RAINY] MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND

I am not, to my intense sorrow, anyone’s mother. It just was never in the cards for me, apparently. However, there is Sam the Magnificent, upon whom I dote!

Saturday, went to get my hands and feet groomed. At the nail shop, I was joined by dear Linda, who had big time designs on a trip to Macy’s. So she came to the nail shop and from there we drove across the parking lot into the Spotsylvania Mall parking lot and into the portion of it nearest Macy’s.

Now I am a sucker for kitchen stuff. Can’t get enough of it, even though it makes moving a nightmare. Makes getting settled a nightmare as well! So of course we entered the store through the housewares department and of course they had masses of stuff on sale at enormous discounts. So it goes without saying that I am now the proud possessor of a 3 qt. stainless steel soup pot ($39.99 value, just $12.99 – how could I pass that up?) that just happens to match the rest of my stainless steel cookware! Linda got herself some new size 6 slacks and one top. She seems to be evaporating before my eyes!

After we got our shopping fix, off we went to the Massaponax Mall to the Red Robin where we indulged in Southwest Burgers – so good they ought to be illegal. And that doesn’t even consider the blueberry/pomegranate limeade they serve with endless refills! Yummy for days! Then SuperTarget for grocery/incidentals shopping (needed a double curtain rod and I just knew they would have it – which they did). All in all, a very productive, delicious and fun day! And we were home before the rain began (again), this time in earnest! Friday was a nightmare drive, to and from work.

All night Saturday night, it rained. Most of the day yesterday, it rained. All night last night, it rained. I know this for sure because Sam is terrified of rain and when it is raining, he is in my lap, curled in my arms when he can manage it but definitely within hugging distance at all times. He isn’t so terrified of thunder and lightning, but heavy rain puts him into an absolutely terrified frame of mind. My best guess is that during the 16 months between his actual birth and his “coming home” to me, he was left out in the rain far too many times. And while he has enhanced my life for 6 happy years, there was that initial 16 month period when nobody loved him, nobody really cared for him and nobody really wanted him. That isn’t something a kitty can outgrow apparently – despite my energetic efforts to show him how much he is now cherished. My sweet Sam. (Bear in mind, few people share my opinion of my beloved boy – he has a bad habit of biting people who come to our house – I don’t get a lot of company as a consequence, which is fine by me!)

Hope all of y'all had a great weekend.

HOWARD DEAN IS A HORSE’S ASS

Cindy McCain is, quite properly in the circumstances, refusing to release copies of her tax returns, leading the ignorant twerp who is head of the Democratic National Committee to opine thus:

"What is John McCain trying to hide?" Dean said in a statement. "Throughout this campaign, he has acted like his own calls for openness and accountability apply to everyone but himself. Now he thinks he can bring that same double standard to the White House."

First of all, Howard, there is absolutely no requirement that ANY candidate release their financial records, it's just a custom. Secondly, Senator McCain and Mrs. McCain have kept their financial lives separate from one another for their entire thirty-year marriage. Therefore, Cindy McCain’s finances are none of anyone’s business. And Senator McCain isn't trying to hide anything. Like Cindy McCain, I believe that HER finances are none of your damned business and it's fairly certain that John McCain completely agrees!

I have to say, HoHo, that the fact that you are trying to make an issue of this non-issue displays a level of fear of John McCain I wasn’t aware existed. Don't you think it's past time you returned to your Vermont home and practiced the art of silence for a while?

IT APPEARS THAT PRIMARY SEASON MAY
NOW BE OVER!

When you begin an enterprise that is based on a faulty premise, chances of real success are pretty dim. That is why this entire, seemingly endless primary campaign season is such a complete failure.

I mean think about it.

Republicans

Did we get the nominee we wanted? Or did we get the nominee we deserved? Are Republicans going to support the nominee, regardless of whether or not we voted for him? Or will we array ourselves as enabling doormats so that we can continue the Harry Reid/Nancy Pelosi debacle of the past two years, except without the moderation forced upon the lunatic left by a more sane president?

Sitting on your hands is simply NOT the answer, unless the answer you want is more, dangerously insane, liberal leftist policies.

Democrats

What can I say? Out of nowhere came Barack Hussein Obama, perhaps the least qualified and most unfit candidate for president since the lamentable boob, James Earl Carter, Jr. This is completely equal opportunity folks. Where is it written that stupidity cannot afflict black politicians every bit as perniciously as white politicians?

The thing that was astonishing to me is that until Dumbo came along, Hillary Rodham Clinton and her sociopathic horndog consort seemed to be a lock for the nomination. At this writing it appears that she has lost the nomination entirely – although experience teaches us that with the Clintons, nothing is forever, much as we might wish otherwise.

It is unlikely that Herself would be willing to accept 2nd banana status to Senator Obama and, if he’s even remotely intelligent (which I question) he won’t want her as his vice president. Bad actuarial odds for him in that foolish decision, folks!

What these primaries should have been was the equivalent of a job interview for the most important job in this country, arguably the most important job in the world. And instead we have experienced the worst kind of overacted, poorly written soap opera in every bad sense of the world. The American networks present daytime drama 5 days a week – but that daytime fare is well written, well acted and reasonably literate. The political wars since November 2006 have been anything but. There has been pettiness, outright dishonesty, faulty memories (for a woman who is supposed to be the smartest in the world, HRC has a rotten memory and a vivid imagination) and longtime associations that reveal either unpleasant personal leanings, questionable moral judgment or unforgivable stupidity.

But enough about the Clinton marriage!

Seriously, Senator Obama’s choice of spiritual advisor is questionable, at the very least. And his friendships with Ayers and Rezko call both Obama’s ethics and judgment into question. The sad thing is, that even though the nomination race may technically be over, I have a feeling that the [nonexistent] Clinton "smear machine" will continue to pump out more and ever more unsavory revelations about just how utterly unsuited for public office Barack Hussein Obama actually is. In the first place, if he is the nominee (and it appears he will be), Hillary will certainly do everything in her power to prevent his election and in the process she will do absolutely everything in her power to bury him politically so that she, and only she, will be the viable nominee in 2012. She may not be as smart as she thinks she is, but she is twice as sly as people think.

I have said it before and I must repeat myself. This election is too damned important for us to screw up. Neither potential Democratic candidate is even remotely acceptable and, while not my first choice, at his worst Senator John McCain stands head and shoulders above either of them, so he has my reluctant vote. I believe that the future of our nation is at stake and that this decision is too significant for us to screw up.

It is well past the time to let our elected representatives know and understand that we don't work for them but rather, they work for us and that their jobs are on the line. The only way to do that is to throw out the most egregiously unsuitable of them. I don't know why John Murtha's dewlapped phiz keeps coming to mind, but there you have it! We need to make it emphatic to the people who work for us (a minor detail they prefer to forget it seems) that they are to tackle the things that WE deem important, in particular national security and the appointment of judges who know the difference between interpreting laws already on the books and staying out of the legislative arena altogether. Our Constitution is not a difficult document to understand, thus I do not understand the enormous amounts of feeble rationalization that swirls around it at every session of SCOTUS.

We have had a nice little system of government for over 230 years if we'd just quite screwing around with it. The American people are, despite the occasional appearance of a dopey character like Albert Gore, Jr., pretty sensible and quite sane. We don't need Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi to explain to us what our morality should be. We already know it. We know that global warming is just so much trifling nonsense. We know that border security is not in any way racist, but rather a prudent attempt to protect our nation from people who wish us harm, just as we always knew that presenting picture identification when you arrive to vote is simple sanity.

Have some of our politicians lost their minds? Probably. Some of them have agendas they would prefer we not decipher. Darned good thing that most of us are a lot smarter than they are and even more intelligent than they'd like to think!

NOW THIS IS THE HILLARY WE'VE COME TO KNOW!

Not that imposter who was interviewed by Bill O'Reilly. In an article quoting her lack of shame for her blatant plagiarism of someone else's plan, herself puts forth and then defends the following:

Clinton Says She’s “Unapologetic” Over Gas Tax Proposal

From CBS News' Fernando Suarez:SOUTH BEND, IND.

In the face of growing criticism from economists and some in her party, Hillary Clinton said she will not give up in her pursuit to temporarily eliminate the federal gas tax for the summer. “I am unabashed! I am unapologetic! I am going to fight for the middle class and I am going to take on the oil companies and everybody else who’s had it their way for way too long!” Clinton told a dismal crowd at an outdoor rally here.

Hillary Rodham Clinton is such a fantasizing cretin that it doesn't even bear thinking about. Hillzilla, you ignorant boob, JOHN McCAIN proposed this weeks ago!

HILLARY ON FOX NEWS

First, I have to say that if we had seen THIS Hillary Rodham Clinton (a woman I still do not like at all) on the campaign trail all along, Barack Obama would already be out of the race - she was that good. Maybe it has been a BIG mistake for her to avoid some tougher questioners. She appeared to be spontaneous, humorous and smart. How much of that was artifice isn't for me to say, although I suspect she was well prepped.

Second, props to O'Reilly for softballing his questions enough that she didn't feel driven into a corner, and yet he did manage to elicit some sponaneous reactions from her. I was especially impressed by the exchange involving taxes for the highest earners in our society in which both seemed to be actually speaking the same language - in a manner of speaking.

Hillary Rodham Clinton is a socialist, pure and simple and that's my opinion based on a lot of observations over a lot of time. But she came across as human in this interview, more than any I have seen her give.

And although Dick Morris can almost always be counted on to get it wrong, it very well may be that Bill is telling Hillary to stay in, be gracious when Barack Obama gets the nomination, sit back and let John McCain win the presidency and spend the next 4 years positioning herself for 2012. While I would greatly prefer that she just go away, that may be the scenario that plays out. Drat!

SO HERE’S WHAT I’M THINKING . . . !

The Democrats seem to be quite willing to betray their own loyalists – hence the nonsensical rejection of both Florida and Michigan primary results. The initial strong arm tactics against the Democratic primary planners in both states were ludicrous, as was the pressure on the various campaigns to eschew participation in these two primaries. Once everyone but Hillary (who will take any vote she can get, wherever she can get it) had declined to participate, the primary was held anyway and the Democratic powers-that-be are adamant that they will not recognize the results. Nice empowerment of your base, Dems! I know absolute morons who can think things through better than you can. But then, with Howard Dean, a man to whom temperate temperament seems to be a foreign concept, as the party’s chairman, what else did they expect? Seriously, the man is the embodiment (along with James Carville) of rage-filled political speech. Dean also is a petty tyrant who keeps barking out orders to both campaigns as if he has the right to do so. What’s up with that crap?

The left-leaning media (which arguably is 95% of it) has been having wet dreams over Barack Hussein Obama for the past year and now that his feet of clay are starting to become apparent, many Dem strategists seem quite willing – excited really – to hurl Senator Obama overboard, just as they did with Hillary when she started to actually be seen as who and what she is - not a very nice human being. Unfortunately, the Dems have two potential nominees who have (whatever you might think of them) waged hard fought and energetic primary season campaigns and both have legitimate claims to present to the Party’s convention. And down to the wire, neither of them has been able to “close the deal”.

It hasn’t helped Senator Obama even a little bit that, in large part due to the lengthy primary season, too many of his questionable associations (Wright, Ayers, Rezko) seem to be surfacing and his wife has been injudiciously running her mouth too. And just in time to make Democratic voters think three or four times about him as potential president! The Democratic primary voters appear to have given some seriously negative thought to Senator Clinton’s potential problems as commander-in-chief of a military she has given every evidence of despising! Or (and I honestly think this is the case) the woman just isn’t really very likable.

Bottom line folks: This is nothing more nor less than a job interview for the most important job in the world. So any notion that WE the people have no right to ask seriously probing questions of ANYONE seeking the job is absolutely asinine. Of course we have the right. Character counts. And on that score, I am finding both Democratic frontrunners lacking. Completely.

Hillary Clinton never met a lie she didn’t love and Barack Obama is a transparently unqualified buffoon with nice manners and not one sincere bone in his body. Neither is even remotely qualified for the very tough and demanding job they seek.

The Republicans haven’t done much better in the candidate department; we just got the whole painful thing over with much more quickly than the Dems have been able to do. We’ve got Senator John McCain and, given the potential opponents, he looks like Tiffany in comparison to the Dollar Store junk jewelry being offered by the other party. The other side has already floated a couple of trial balloons in opposition to Senator McCain but they haven’t really made a dent. The chattering classes seem to be distracted by the on-going demolition derby going on in the Democratic Party. In the meantime, both Obama and Clinton have raised so doggone much money during the course of this campaign, any odds as to what money will be left for them to use for the general election? If any?

All this augers well for Republicans retaining control of the Presidency. Now if Republican could just achieve a backbone transplant for all the RINOs in the House and the Senate, we might be good to go. As it stands, however, I doubt very much that a Republican president will be anything more than a counterweight to the Democratic lunacy being fomented over in the House of Representatives, where la Pelosi reigns, or the utterly lunatic bunch over in the Senate with Slick Harry Reid in ascendency.

My feeling is that if “none of the above” were on the ballots nationwide, “none of the above” would win every seat up for grabs in a landslide!

UPDATE #1: Opinions are floating on the Web that Rev. Wright's sudden volubility is being encouraged by skullduggery perpetrated by the Clinton campaign. Wouldn't surprise me and it is the kind of devious, rotten, brilliant move the Clintons have been known to pull!

UPDATE #2: William Kristol weighs in with some interesting thoughts on the campaign here:

Sen. Obama is ducking Sen. Clinton because his last debate performance was an unspeakable disaster and no doubt contributed to his drubbing at the hands of Sen. Clinton in the Pennsylvania primary.

But what does it say about this allegedly messianic figure whose speech “elevates” and sends thrills up the legs of the big foot media that he is now afraid to field questions in front of a national audience? What does it say about those who still worship him?

HOW DANGEROUS IS SENATOR OBAMA?

Rev. Wright?
Senator Obama attended the church where Rev. Wright was pastor for 20 years. And in all that time he never ever heard any of Rev. Wright's "more extreme" views? Excuse me if I find that hard to believe.

The Ayers Connection?
Michelle Obama has served on boards with this man, as has Senator Obama. How likely is it that Senator Obama was unaware of Ayers former and current radical mindset, which has in the past led to such things as bombing the Pentagon? Either the Senator is lying or he is entirely too hopelessly naive to be president.

Proposed Meeting with Terrorist Nations Like Iran with no preconditions?

Senator Obama is either "in the pocket" of Muslim extremism or he is such a naif that again, he is supremely unqualified for the presidency.

I'd say that Senator Obama is too dangerous for prime time!

UPDATE: Rev. Wright is now opining that anyone who criticizes his (Rev. Wright's) sermons is racist. The reverse is true. Rev. Wright IS the racist. In addition, he is a lunatic, anti-American, race baiting buffoon. Expressing an opinion of hate speech such as Rev. Wright's is one of the most patriotic things an American can do!

TIME FOR SOME SERIOUS UNEMPLOYMENT!

Let’s begin our long overdue project alphabetically with Abercrombie, Neil , 1st HI and end it 435 members later with Young, Don , At Large AK – alphabetical order is always fair! They are ALL on the chopping block, my friends.

Under her majesty, the Botox Queen Pelosi, this 2 year session has accomplished practically nothing, and what little was accomplished was detrimental to the preservation, protection and defense of the United States of America and its citizens.

Only 1/3 of the members of the Senate are up for re-election. My feelings – throw the bums out! Those seeking reelection have not in any way, shape or form earned that privilege. Since the day after the 2006 election, a significant number of their motley group have been busily running for higher office, whilst neglecting entirely the one they now are damned lucky to have. Heaven knows that most of them are unfit for any other occupation! We must bear in mind that Shrillery failed the D.C. Bar exam after all. So she is qualified to practice law in Arkansas. Period. And her horndog consort can’t practice law anywhere (it’s not nice to lie to a Grand Jury, Bill). No wonder they’ve been living off the public trough for 30 years! And surely there is nothing left in West Virginia to be named after Senator Byrd.

Did you ever consider that if the choice of “none of the above” was on our ballots, “none of the above” might occupy the House of Representatives and the White House? Just a thought.

OBAMA'S NEW STRATEGY?

Have a nice weekend, all y'all! This is the most fascinating campaign I can remember!

REMINDER TO JAMES EARL CARTER, JR.

If he so wishes, the current (and competent) President, George W. Bush, could direct the Attorney General and the Justice Department to prosecute you under the following:

THE LOGAN ACT

§ 953. Private correspondence with foreign governments.

Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

This section shall not abridge the right of a citizen to apply himself, or his agent, to any foreign government, or the agents thereof, for redress of any injury which he may have sustained from such government or any of its agents or subjects.
18 U.S.C. § 953 (2004).

The assumption would, of course, be that as a former [albeit failed] President, you ought to know this law and that if you don't, your ignorance of the law is no excuse.

NOW will you shut the hell up?!

IS THIS DINGBAT SERIOUS?!

NEW YORK (AP) - The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, former pastor to Barack Obama, said that publicizing sound bites of sermons in which he condemned U.S. policies was "unfair" and "devious," and done by people who know nothing about his church, according to excerpts of a PBS interview released Thursday.

"It's unfair!" That is such unadulterated manure! It’s the kind of thing you hear from whiney children on a playground – not from a so-called adult who not only should know better, but who also has had the responsibility of ministering to people’s spiritual well-being for many years.

I can only conclude that Rev. Wright really hates being found out to be the America-hating bigot that he is. And why is he so filled with hatred? He grew up in the middle class so he cannot claim an impoverished childhood. Did the poor little asshat have to wait too long for his $10 million mansion in Chicago? That this piece of excrement is a man that Barack Hussein Obama professes to admire is the first, best and really only reason needed to prevent anyone sane from voting for him for the Democratic nomination. Like his Pastor, Obama is spiritually bankrupt.

OH CANADA!

Sometimes your smarter angel is sitting on your shoulder and in your web-wanderings you discover a pearl of great price, as I have here.

I must admit that my very favorite pair skaters from the past 10 years are Hongbo Zhao and Xue Shen of China. But closely following them, so closely that it is a virtual tie, are Jamie Sale and David Pelletier of Canada. And this performance, featuring as it does the superlative singing of Andrea Boccelli and Hayley Westenra, is sublime.

The thing about Sale and Pelletier is that you feel secure watching them skate. They are immaculate technicians who have perfected their technique to the point that they can put it on automatic pilot and concentrate on interpretation. They are – and it’s obvious – wildly in love with each other (they married after the 2002 Olympics and have an infant son) and their skating reflects that connection. Their skating is impeccably smooth and always enchanting.

JAMES EARL CARTER, JR. – Chutpah BY a Cracker!

James Earl Carter, Jr. says that the Secretary of State is not telling the truth and that nobody "told him" not to meet with Hamas. Oh really?! How about common sense? How about the newspapers (even the mainstream sycophantic drive-by media)?

When one considers the vast number of untruths contained in James Earl Carter, Jr.’s most recent book, the following statements are both astonishing and ludicrous!

Carter says Secretary Rice "not telling truth"

By Matthew Bigg - 1 hour, 20 minutes ago

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter on Wednesday accused Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice of not telling the truth about warnings she said her department gave Carter not to speak to Hamas before a Middle East trip.

The State Department has said U.S. Assistant Secretary of State David Welch, the top U.S. diplomat for the Middle East, issued the warning before Carter, a veteran of Middle East diplomacy, went on his trip last week.

Rice said in Kuwait on Tuesday: "We counseled President Carter against going to the region and particularly against having contact with Hamas."

"President Carter has the greatest respect for ... Rice and believes her to be a truthful person. However, perhaps inadvertently, she is continuing to make a statement that is not true," a statement issued by the Carter center in Atlanta said on Wednesday.

"No one in the State Department or any other department of the U.S. government ever asked him (Carter) to refrain from his recent visit to the Middle East or even suggested that he not meet with Syrian President (Bashar) Assad or leaders of Hamas," it said."

Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy – you were the worst president of the 20th Century against some pretty tough competition and, in a political party that venerates to the truth-challenged you are a standout. And you have the brass cojones to call the Secretary of State of the United States of America a liar? Have you no shame? (All right – that was a dumb question – of course he has no shame! If he did, he’d keep his vicious and lying trap shut!)
